Alone in foreign country and feeling really low

Sorry for the call for help... but I’m by myself in a foreign country 6 hours ahead, my partner in UK is asleep and I’m struggling quite a lot with low mood/anxiety. No doubt because I’m all by myself and I’m panicking about things. I just want to be at home.

Hi Nancy.
What time are you leaving tomorrow?
Are you packed?

Nifflernancy · 10/02/2020 04:24

Hi. Sorry I lost internet for a while. Leaving at 8am so it’s about 10 hours.. yes I spent the evening packing and getting sorted and that distracted me for a bit. Just got to get through the night now.

Hope you are asleep op ! Good luck travelling home tomorrow.
Just remembered I’ve travelled with an anti bug sleeping bag liner before - pretty sure you will have used ? Mostly made for mosquito protection but think it might help you? Once wrapped up in it in bed a bit like a cloak of invincibility ? I’ve actually not used it but it seemed sensible to take on some ‘holidays’.
All the best - by the time you read this you’ll be pretty much through it and about to be home !

I hope you're OK, big hugs! If this is a trip that you've made by choice on your own then I think you deserve a massive pat on the back!! My OH works away from home quite a bit and I have forced myself to book cheap 2-night breaks away to stave off the boredom (I'm retired). I used to hate it and felt hugely homesick as soon as I arrived and counted down the hours before I could scamper home. Over time it's got easier (I gave myself a severe talking to one trip when I was somewhere gorgeous as to how lucky I was and I was acting like a spoilt brat) and now I love the freedom, the excitement and the sense of achievement of doing this stuff on my own. You have done so well and should be so proud of yourself! Star

Hi everyone - just to say I am home now, and thank you so much to everyone who took the time to comment and support me, it really helped so much.

I actually managed the last night fine in the end (such a fluke, I have no idea what happened!) and I’m so glad I did it.

Thanks again Flowers
