How do you deal with horrible, random messages from men?

I had some diy work done in my house before Christmas and I hired a self-employed guy to do it.

I had his telephone number to arrange time/date of the work. He spent 1 day in my house completing the work. I kept out of his way and spent the day completing paperwork in my bedroom.

He has just (tonight) what's app me saying
"Minou, I think I heard you masterbatIng when I was at your house. You turned me on. You up for some"

What the fuck? I barely spoke to him and I certainly didnt do what he saying I did.
I have not replied to him.

Has anyone else had similar? What did you do? I'm a little concerned because he knows where I live.
I'm I being precious and should laugh this off? Or should I be concerned?

Well done reporting him OP, you've been really courageous in doing this. Hopefully they will deal with him and he won't do this to anyone else in future.

looondonn · 05/02/2020 20:59

Great you so did the right thing

Sorry this happened what a creep 🤮🤮🤮

CustomerCervixDepartment · 05/02/2020 22:15

Everyone who says ‘maybe it was someone else on his phone’- the adult equivalent of ‘a big boy did it and ran away’, wise up, you are humiliating yourselves.

A friend and her daughter were flashed at by a young lad in his car. They got his registration number and reported it to the police. He ended up in court and he is on the sex offenders register at the age of 21.

florababy84 · 06/02/2020 00:09

@lilgreen Well done!! Shock Im so impressed.

lilgreen · 06/02/2020 07:08

Thanks @florababy34 I just couldn’t believe that he carried on walking his dog at the same time. Turns out he was high.

lilgreen · 06/02/2020 07:09

And 17! On sex offenders register for life now.

Princessleila86 · 06/02/2020 11:52

first instinct would of just been to reply "no thanks" followed by a swift blocking this guy is just chancing his luck may of even had success in the past who knows

although outrageous not really sure what police are going to be able to do at this stage no crime has been committed

lilgreen · 06/02/2020 15:17

That’s how I felt about the flasher but then I thought about all the school girls he could have targeted and felt it was the responsible thing to do. Op probably felt the same. What decent guy sends texts like that?

lilgreen · 06/02/2020 15:18

I guess they’ll check he hadn’t had previously similar complaints against him. Check if he works with children(coaching etc) as sometimes it’s just one piece of the jigsaw. He should get a warning.

BobbyBlueCat · 06/02/2020 15:44

@minou123 - the app only tells the other person you've read the message if that's what you've set it up to do. Just turn that off!

whatsapp - settings - privacy - TURN READ RECIEPTS OFF

Nobody can see if you've read their messages or not then.

BobbyBlueCat · 06/02/2020 15:45

Also, set the 'last seen' to 'nobody'.

I don't know why everybody seems to want everybody else to know if they're online or not!

minou123 · 06/02/2020 15:54

Thank you everyone for your support.

lilgreen that was so brave of you. Well done.

Princessleila86 admittedly I dont know every woman in the world, but I cant believe he would be successful with any women using this technique.
The police have said a crime has been committed under the Malicious Communication act.

BobbyBlueCat I turned of the read receipts when I started to receive the messages. I didnt know about the 'last seen' , I have done that now. Thank you for sharing this.

Something very similar happened to me just before Christmas. To cut a long story short I employed a man from MyBuilder to come and fit a carpet in my sons flat in London. He sounded very professional and the day before he was due I rang him to make sure he was going to turn up the next day. He said he would be there in the morning but no time was given. I told him I'd had a bed settee delivered which was heavy and did he want us to move it as my son had to work the next day and wouldn't be there to help move it. He said it wouldn't be a problem. He asked me to text him my sons address again, which I did. The next message said can I ask how old you are? I showed my son and he naively said perhaps they give discounts to old people! So I replied I'm 64 but feel 90! He replied you are 64 but how about I make you feel 21 tomorrow ! I was disgusted and threw my phone at my son and as he took hold of it the next message flashed up don't be shy with my name ! My son went mental, called him and called him lots of builder type words lol I reported him to MyBuilder who did NOTHING! I reported it to the police as well. I felt completely violated! These pervs should not be allowed to get away with it. Be warned and be careful !

PopsPab · 07/02/2020 19:59

I've posted a similar experience but for some reason it hasn't been posted.

PopsPab · 07/02/2020 20:00

Ah now it has lol

PearlyPinkNails · 07/02/2020 20:28

That's so worrying. I'm glad the police take it seriously
