Mine is the human brain. How a few chemicals can dictate so much about who we are and how we act/feel etc.

What other things do people get fascinated by?

Oil rigs

Very Big Boats

OutComeTheWolves · 31/01/2020 22:38

Whenever I visit London, when I'm walking around I find it so weird to think of everything that's going on under the ground. Like underneath the paving slabs there isn't solid ground, theres people, escalators, shops, trains. Totally blows my mind!

AlexaAmbidextra · 31/01/2020 22:39

Major road building. How it gets from a plan to the reality. This is because over the past few years I’ve driven by the route of the new northern distributor road in Norfolk several times. Seeing just a vast swathe of landscape in it’s early stages looking nothing like a road and now it’s finished state. I marvel at the brains that thought it through and created it tbh. How do you decide where to start digging? 🤷‍♀️

Foghead · 31/01/2020 22:39

Space and how big it is. Possibly is. Or is it? Is there life anywhere else?

Pyramids and how they were built.

How animals communicate and organise themselves.

Loads of things.

sproutsandparsnips · 31/01/2020 22:39

Remote islands and how they work.
Stromboli
Self - how I am me and you are you and, well, I can only know what it's like to b me and there is no way I can ever experience what it's like to be someone else.

fannyanney · 31/01/2020 22:42

Natural disasters

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 31/01/2020 22:46

Oh there's loads. They're not really odd though

Under the oceans/sea. It also creeps me out though. Lakes I find very creepy.
Time. E.g. Did you know 1 billion seconds is almost 32 years.
Abandoned places.
How a baby forms from a sperm and a tiny egg in just 9 months.
Who thought of the name for nature made things e.g. Trees Flowers ect.

@Frogsandsheep. My DD has got an Easter stigma Mark. She was born just before Easter.

firstimemamma · 31/01/2020 22:47

Reproduction is fascinating when you think about it. One tiny sperm and one tiny egg create life - an entire new person with thoughts, feelings and personality. It's amazing really!

sweetkitty · 31/01/2020 22:50

The human body the whole of it is a working miracle, brains, hearts, the immune system

Planes - how they he’ll do they stay in the air

pinkmagic1 · 31/01/2020 22:51

Abandoned buildings. I can spend hours looking at photos.

CooCooCoo · 31/01/2020 23:24

Attics too. While house viewing I was eager to see them 🤣

Disused, deserted theme parks. I find them fascinatingly creepy. Also things that look a bit 'other worldly',e.g. the Maunsell Forts in the North Sea. There is something alien looking about them.

Lojoh · 31/01/2020 23:50

St Kilda

ALongHardWinter · 31/01/2020 23:51

I also find massive engineering projects fascinating, such as how the London underground tube system or the Channel Tunnel was built,or how huge miles long bridges were built. And buildings. I watched a fascinating documentary a couple of years ago about how 'The Cheese Grater' building in London was constructed. I think I should have been a civil engineer. Grin

ALongHardWinter · 31/01/2020 23:54

sweetkitty That's something that's intrigued me for years, just how DO those massive planes stay in the air?! I am mightily grateful that they do though,as I live right under the flight path of a very busy airport!

ChestOfFields · 01/02/2020 00:05

People who are extrovert.
People who get lonely.
People who like being around lots of other people.
People who just don't/can't understand I am an introvert, I never get lonely, and i don't like crowds!

iStruggleWithThePast · 01/02/2020 00:07

The fact that woman can grow brains. Its just madness isnt it, i have grown 3 brains. Me! It fasinates me that I made 3 people,

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 01/02/2020 00:15

The fact that woman can grow brains

Not just brains, the whole functioning body. It grows in there for 9 months (longer in some animals). The whole reproductive process is fascinating.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/02/2020 00:18

@iStruggleWithThePast. You have 3 brainsConfused.

MartiniDry · 01/02/2020 00:24

Items of extreme beauty from centuries past. How, when many Londoners were living in timbered slums, did people have the vision and architectural talent to design and build the likes of Westminster Abbey etc?

How did C17th Venetian glassmakers develop designs so far ahead of their time?

The Universe. If the Universe is EVERYTHING, then how is it expanding? What is it expanding into? Makes no sense to me and my average brain.
