Phil there's no proof it ever happened. Bowie certainly didn't have a rep for it in the '70s, in fact the opposite, he was careful about who got backstage, though there was no proper ID like there is nowadays.

Me too. I've spent a LOT of time with musicians and honestly, there's very few who aren't arseholes. Coked up arseholes a lot of them. Keith Flint is one notable nice bloke (never hear a bad word about him and I liked him in the flesh as well) but the songs were dreadful about women.

While not brilliant it's partly a product of its time rather than a predilection for young girls and there's no real evidence though I think it perfectly possible, stories are inconsistent.

I actually think it would have been outside of the norm for a 'rock star' hanging about in LA at that point not to have been involved with the 'baby groupies' in some respect. I don't doubt that these were somewhat damaged girls but neither Maddox nor Starr ever said that they regretted their experiences.
