Which Star Trek ship would you like to serve on?

I love Star Trek and am looking forward to the new series Star Trek Picard on Amazon next week.

I’ve been thinking about which ship I would like to serve on. Tbh it is easy, Voyager!

I’m sure I’m not the only Trek fan (I’m not a Trekkie) here. Let’s see which is the most popular vessel.

Any bloody Cardassians out there can bugger off now.

we taught him to point and say nerd a lot GrinGrinGrin

SciFiScream · 18/01/2020 18:36

Picard is mine. Enterprise D or Enterprise E.

Or anywhere Picard is.

GetawayfromthatWelshtart · 18/01/2020 18:43

Screw the vessels I'll take DS9 please with Sisko. Much more fun!

At a push I'd have to go with Archer of Kirk vessels.

Enterprise under Picard I would have been dismissed for pointing out Riker was a pervy sexist narcissist arsehole and their use of underage children as crewmen (Wesley anyone?) . Also their "counselor" was a bit crap due to her worrying obsession with said Narcissist and sex perv Riker. Either that or died of boredom from having to listen to their bloody "musical" sessions and dull lectures and poetry readings (you just know that everyone at some point would have been made to attend like some horrible nightmare "team building" exercise.... eyes twitches)

I would have sat in the brig for the entire Voyager trip or asked to be dropped off at the nearest nicest normal planet due refsuing to obey her orders by pointing out that Janeway was a making some VERY bad choices, violating most of the Federation laws on the way and working everyone too near death. Also that ship would have been totally falling apart. I'm so nerdy that I know you can't keep replicating ship parts hangs head in shame for knowing how a replicator works.

I have actually met Marina Sirtis several times [Troi] (very funny and VERY dirty laugh) and gotten very very drunk with J. G. Hertzler [Martock] and Robert O'Reilly [Gowron] who were LOVELY!!!!

LeVar Burton [Geordi La Forge] however was a total "do you know who I am?" diva.

Ich bin ein Startrek nerd Grin

I hope the drinking session with the Klingons was as legendary as it sounds, getaway!

SciFiScream · 18/01/2020 18:46

I've loved Picard since 1989. I was 12 when I fell for him to the PP that said they knew they were a grown up when preferring Picard. What does that say about me?!

I've met the actor. He gives me proper fanny gallops!!!

Thankfully my DH is bald...

PureAlchemy · 18/01/2020 18:58

I bet Picard only let Wesley on the bridge as part of a campaign to get into Beverley’s knickers.

It’s the only plausible explanation for him letting a teenager drive the Enterprise when there must have been fully trained Starfleet officers hired for just that role.

PureAlchemy · 18/01/2020 19:03

Also I don’t get how Voyager hadn’t run out of shuttlecraft long before they got round to building that Delta Flyer.

I bet it’d be tricky to make a shuttlecraft in a replicator.

@YourOpinionIsNoted

They were bloody epic!

Meet them a few times before at certain ST functions. Then my BF and I went to our 1st long weekend Star Trek convention (many many years ago) where they recognized us from the other functions and invited us over to their table for the weekend evening events. Oh god.. the hangovers .... so much booze... (well, we drunk loads, not sure they did!)

Such lovely friendly funny men. Spent the evenings talking about their families and telling funny stories. Every time they bumped into us over the weekend they roared in Klingon and gave me bear hugs and lifted me up cos I was a short little thing back then.

Actually saw the 1st ever screening of "Star Trek: Enterprise" pilot episode at that convention.

Best.. weekend... EVER! Grin

And photon torpedoes PureAlchemy

I forgot in my opening post to wish Voyager happy 25th birthday 🎂

Voyager is NOT 25. 1995 was NOT that long ago.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 18/01/2020 19:16

We went to a Star Trek exhibition/convention and they had the whole bridge there

I went to the one they did in Hyde Park when the film Nemesis came out. When you were ready to leave you had to go through bits of the TNG ship . The whole thing was on hydraulics. Started off on the bridge, got attacked, red alert, ran into a turbo lift, came out in engineering to the warp core about to explode. (Then out to the gift shop Grin)

It was bloody awesome. Flicky lights, watching the enemy ship approach on screen, the shaking when we were hit, the red alert noise etc. Gutted you could only go once.

Did anyone go to the Star trek museum thing in Blackpool? Only lasted a year so wondered if it was rubbish.

YourOpinionIsNoted · 18/01/2020 19:18

Oh my god what that sounds brilliant!

Becca19962014 · 18/01/2020 19:19

Thinking of this thread has reminded me of seeing "the best of both worlds, part one" for the first time. I screamed at the ending. My parents thought I was being murdered. I was devastated. Those months of waiting to see what would happen was bloody torture.

No internet and surrounded by oddballs who knew nothing of Star Trek, except I watched it and was very uncool.

Even now I can't watch it on DVD without my stomach dropping. And that's knowing how it ends!

MrsFionaCharming · 18/01/2020 19:20

If it’s allowed I’d chose DS-9, but if it has to be a ship I’ll go for Voyager.

Like a previous poster said about 7, it was B’Elana who made me realise I might not be straight. I was on about my 6th rewatch of Blood Fever as a teenager when I realised I was not watching for Tom!

Plus, in a roundabout way, Janeway saved a lot of lives by stranding them in the Delta Quadrant. A good portion of the Starfleet and Marquis crew would have been killed in the Dominion War had they gone straight home!

Becca19962014 · 18/01/2020 19:21

I went to the TOS convention in Bournemouth where they recreated the bridge and you got to experience what it was like. I loved it!!! It was the set from undiscovered country so I was in my element (I had the book, soundtrack, posters, basically anything and everything to do with that film!)

Enterprise, mainly because voyager was lost and didn't know they'd ever get back and I'd miss my family and earth.

And the Borg. Could live without the hive.

mumwon · 18/01/2020 19:45

have been a Star Trek fan since it began - sigh Spock Data Trip & Tuvok …
Can I put through Stargate Universe here too (by the way "Trip" Connor Trineer was in Stargate Atlantis as a Wraith called Michael)

I like Robert Carlyle Grin

SanFranBear · 18/01/2020 20:35

Talking of cool conventions and the like, did anyone do the Star Trek Experience in Vegas? It's gone now sadly but just amazing... you started in a plain room, it went black and the transporter sound started and when the lights came back on, you were on the Enterprise bridge.. I don't know how they did it but, like you whatsnewpussyhat, I was gutted you could only do that bit once. That said, the rest of it was just brilliant too...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2020 20:37

Enterprise D for me, as long as Spock can take Data's place.

TheFaerieQueene · 18/01/2020 20:47

I love that women are so strong in the Trekverse, TOS notwithstanding (though Uhura was, especially in the films).

I think my favourite female character is Jadzia Dax. She is wonderful.

SanFranBear

Sounds very similar. Never got to go to the Vegas Hilton one.

Can I put through Stargate Universe here too

See I adore the original Stargate series, but had to stop watching when they changed it to Farscape part 2. Ruined it.

Atlantis was ok (whilst everyone drooled over Aquaman, I much prefered Rodney. Annoyed the hell out of me when he ended up with Dr Keller, she was just so dull)

Universe was so odd. Especially the whole body swapping with people on earth stuff. Even Robbie C couldn't save it.

Sorry for the derail. As you were. Grin

Whatsnewpussyhat · 18/01/2020 21:17

I think my favourite female character is Jadzia Dax. She is wonderful

Yep, I'd rather they'd killed her completely than sticking Dax in Ezri. She was crap. Poor Worf.

TheFaerieQueene · 18/01/2020 21:20

Ezri was not a Dax in any way. A very odd decision on the part of the writing/production team.

OP posts:
TaliZorahVasNormandy · 18/01/2020 21:35

Jadzia was awesome. Ezri was awful. Couldnt stand Kira.
