Which Star Trek ship would you like to serve on?

I love Star Trek and am looking forward to the new series Star Trek Picard on Amazon next week.

I’ve been thinking about which ship I would like to serve on. Tbh it is easy, Voyager!

I’m sure I’m not the only Trek fan (I’m not a Trekkie) here. Let’s see which is the most popular vessel.

Any bloody Cardassians out there can bugger off now.

Star trek? Nah. Give me a trip on the Serenity any day!

That must be why it was so successful.

NCC1701D · 18/01/2020 11:03

Enterprise D, naturally! Grin

THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS!

Love that episode. Patrick Stewart really got to show off the Shakespearean training!

TheFaerieQueene · 18/01/2020 11:11

Agreed wholeheartedly that Sir Patrick was remarkable in that episode.

Just for the Patrick Stewart appreciation society.

Discovery under captain pike but only as a science officer. I think that would be amazing, learning about the spore network and stuff.

Otherwise I'd like voyager, though I'd rather be under captain Picard than Janeway, she's ok but definitely makes some very risky decisions trying to get them home

PureAlchemy · 18/01/2020 11:49

I’m astonished that so many people are saying Voyager.

They’re marooned on the other side of the galaxy, with a captain who keeps getting the crew into trouble with risky decisions and unnecessary side trips to check out nebulas and the like. Plus you’d have to put up with Neelix and his infuriating inane chatter at almost every mealtime. And I know people have said that they get home eventually, but at the start, the Voyager crew’s all thinking it’ll take 70 years at best to get home.
No thanks!

Enterprise D and Picard for me.

TheFaerieQueene · 18/01/2020 11:56

But PureAlchemy, I’ve promised to throw Neelix out of the airlock!

PureAlchemy · 18/01/2020 12:10

Honestly, I’m a bit surprised that Neelix got all the way to the last series of Voyager without any nasty “accidents”, or without being “accidentally” marooned on an away mission.

He’s so very annoying. Surely they could have got another crew member to do some cooking?

CaptainCallisto · 18/01/2020 12:28

THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS was definitely a showcase of British acting. David Warner was also phenomenally good. When you get two brilliant Shakespearean actors playing off each other like that... Pure magic!

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 18/01/2020 12:59

I always wondered why Neelix never wound up in the Warp Core. Over 150 people. One of them surely would have done it. Lon Suder or Michael Jonas would have done it given the chance.

Becca19962014 · 18/01/2020 13:14

My favourite film was Star Trek VI Undiscovered Country because of the Shakespeare throughout. Also first I got to see at cinema and it was wonderful!!

MitziK · 18/01/2020 13:14

I rather fancy the Discovery-era Enterprise - I like the way it's been casually remarked upon as being a new fashion/design choice, compared to normal. Not that the uniforms would suit a fat git like me, the Discovery ones seem a bit more forgiving (and reinforced). The Discovery itself - I prefer people to stay dead once they're dead. Maybe they should introduce a rule where anybody who comes back from the dead has to go on the next away mission wearing red?

I'd have become a murderer on Picard's and Janeway's ships. Too many simpering women. Oooh, I'm an empath, I eat chocolate and have big eyes. Not actually useful for anything else, I just get emotional. Or I'm a Mum who looks after people in sick bay because that's what women do. Whilst both either do or have previously fucked a more senior officer. Or I'm ancient and female and smile beatifically whilst wearing purple. Or I fuck over my crew because, well, reasons that I suffer emotionally for. Cos I'm a woman captain, obvs.

7Worfs · 18/01/2020 13:40

As a young officer I’d choose Voyager or DS9 (yeah, yeah, it’s a station, not a ship).

As a mature senior officer I’d join Enterprise D.

Am I the only one who isn’t annoyed by Neelix?
Tuvix on the other hand... I could’ve murdered him myself. Grin

PureAlchemy · 18/01/2020 14:16

If you’re talking about Tuvix, the squished together meld of Tuvok and Neelix, didn’t Janeway effectively kill him by splitting him back into his component parts?

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 18/01/2020 14:26

Yep, Tuvix ceased to exist when Neelix and Tuvok were split. I felt for Tuvok.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 18/01/2020 14:26

Tali I'm pretty sure that putting Nelix in the warp core would have destabilised it. Those things seem to be as temperamental as fuck.

TheFaerieQueene · 18/01/2020 14:34

I blame 7of9. She resurrected Neelix with her nanoprobes. You just can’t trust a drone to do the right thing.

OP posts:
PureAlchemy · 18/01/2020 14:38

I remember the bit at the end of the Tuvix episode, when he’s essentially begging the crew not to let Janeway kill him, and the crew’s response is basically a big awkward silence.

Poor Tuvix.

PureAlchemy · 18/01/2020 14:39

Oooh, I forgot that 7 of 9 had resurrected Neelix! Did he even say thank you, or was he too busy moping about not having seen heaven?

Sazquatch · 18/01/2020 14:40

Ooh, Enterprise with The lovely Trip. 😋

BWcastle2000 · 18/01/2020 14:41

Voyager followed closely by any other ship that visited the mirror universe. Or DS9 when they went back in time to the originals series enterprise (trials and tribble-ations.) I want a tribble as a pet!
