Yep, I know of baby a Maud and Edith (Edie). I reckon Vera will come around again soon because it is a good name. Robert has about another 20-30 years before it’s hip again. Paul is a saint’s name so will always be with us, but is probably about 30 years off being in vogue again.

You have to think of the generation currently with that name & them getting old/passing away, then add a few years for it to resurface. My friend named her baby girl Ruby in 1998. Her MIL was horrified about giving the baby “an old lady name.” For the brave pioneers and hipsters reanimating the name, it’s an old person’s name and the parents get side-eye from friends and family. Ten years later we are overrun with them and there are 3 in every primary school class in England.

Fanny obviously

StJohn! Have never met one in real life.

I have! He was the older brother of my uni flatmate’s ex. He lived up to every posh, borderline aristo stereotype you can imagine, but he was also a nice guy and a decent house guest.

He pronounced his name ‘sinjun’, which I understand is the usual way.

Er, What’s wrong with Julie !!! 🤷‍♀️😁

I was named after my nana who was a Julia (I prefer that to Julie tbh)
Julia could make a return because of Julia Hartley-Brewer maybe?

Mildred. Awful name. It's like a hybrid of mildew and dread.

Motherontheedge1 · 18/01/2020 08:56

Any very young Kay’s out there? I’d group it in with the Janet, Linda and Alison era of names but have recently become aware of a couple of teenage Kay’s.

Peter anyone? Haven’t seen it mentioned.

JacquesHammer · 18/01/2020 08:58

I love the name Kay for a boy 😊

I know/know of three Peters aged 15 and younger

muddypuddles12 · 18/01/2020 09:59

Lol a girl I know just had a baby boy and called him Percy.

She's a HUGE snob and clearly thinks it's really quirky and alternative. Everyone else just thinks it sounds like something you'd name your pet pig.

muddypuddles12 · 18/01/2020 10:00

Gary.

Surely there are no baby Gary's out there?

Shockers · 18/01/2020 10:07

My name has appeared on this thread, and I’ll admit, I’m shocked. I’ve always loved my name, and I know of one in every generation since (I was born in the 60s), but it’s not a widely used name.

My lovely parents and grandparents are on here, as is my sister. My brother has escaped!
