Moira will always be around as long as The Scotch are

The name originates in Greece! Never knew whisky had a name preference 🙄

Kelly, Tracy, Linda - not due a comeback

I like Paul, Thaddeus, Margaret, Frances, Sarah and Sebastian.

Pliudev · 17/01/2020 18:16

Lots of the names mentioned are already popular again. Mine, however, will never be. The only Paulines I know are around the same age as me (old), Northern like me and also inclined to be a bit bossy. Royston Vasey had it about right.

amispeakingenglish · 17/01/2020 18:16

Doris already back, and Edith.

Worse ones are Ann, Peter, David, Susan, Margaret, so boring WHO chooses these?? and all the names spelt wrong, like Abygale, yes, really and Chevorne, Shawn etc. Then you have things like Stacey and Connor (once a nice name) Dwayne, Tyler

Skyler, Chrystal or similar -, not nice

Lincolnfield · 17/01/2020 18:20

Ethel, Edna and Bertha.

Cyril, Philip and Edwin.

My sisters’ names - Joyce, Kathleen and Patricia. My mum had run out of ideas by the time she got to me so I got Antoinette! 😂😂

There is currently a proliferation of Daisies which is a bit disconcerting because half the female dogs around here are also called Daisy.

My husband is Garry but very proud of the fact that his name has two ‘r’s!

My nephew is Graham and I’ve always found that an odd choice - not being judgemental honestly!

@amispeakingenglish

I agree! I think I got the best name and so do my sisters! 😂😂

Just to add, I loath the stupid ‘celeb’ names -

Fifi (poodle anyone?) Trixibelle, Peaches and of course the ghastly Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily

Daisy boo,

Buddy Bear

And not forgetting of course Cruz, Romeo and Harper Seven.

David Bowie’s son had the good sense to change his name from Zowie to Duncan!

Alwaysrainsonme · 17/01/2020 18:41

I like Malcolm. Don’t get the hate for it on here.

Roy on the other hand should definitely be consigned to the history books.

corduroyal · 17/01/2020 18:42

Fanny, Willy and Dick... once very common

Lucytwosie · 17/01/2020 18:42

Am I the only person who likes Gertrude?? Love the name Gertie, so would shorten it to that!

StrangeLookingParasite · 17/01/2020 18:43

Hepzibah is my "if only I were braver" baby name. I'd call her Zizi for short.

Don't ever go to France if you do.

Edna
Gertrude
Agatha (though Agathe in French is lovely)

Ronald
Cecil
Cyril

corduroyal · 17/01/2020 18:44

Mary Ann was a HUGELY popular name in Victorian times and that's never making a comeback

AngryAngel · 17/01/2020 18:44

I like all these retro names. It's like being back in a classroom in the 1980s.

GiftedFish · 17/01/2020 18:45

Uriah

Hushabyelullaby · 17/01/2020 18:45

Names go round, give it time and I'm sure 70's/80's names will return.

My Nan was Ivy (my 12 year old DD's middle name), and her three sisters names, Rose, Violet, and Lily, are all very fashionable. My great grandparents were obviously fans of flowers, apart from my Nan who always said 'I had to be the bloody crawling, suffocating, creeper'. Their brother was Percy (John Thomas!!)
