Just read this on their instagram page.
They plan on becoming private citizens

Are they going to be £20 outside the Etihad with an £8 gin after Harry has treated us to some sick beats?

Haha. Perhaps they'll model them on their website, that would make for an interesting style and beauty thread!

QueenMargot · 09/01/2020 17:21

Eine - I can't see why you''d think selling a trademarked bandana outside the etihad is so much worse than selling a trademarked miniature porcelein chamber pot in chipping norton or somewhere like that. Or can I?

Oddly enough I think Diana would have cold shouldered Kate and embraced Meghan

People forget Diana was no saint and enjoyed a good shit stir.

I wonder if an RF member in the coming weeks will issue an apology after :

"Being caught on a mircrophone, they weren't informed was on..." Wink

Or something like that. A discreet few words somewhere that leaves nothing to the imagination.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 09/01/2020 17:27

No I don't think you can MargotConfused

You could substititute Beyonce and Ivy Park for any sleb with merch.

I made the mental reference as I was at that venue for that concert were that range was being sold.

I baulked at paying £50 for a baseball hat, personally.

The Royal Family as far as I'm aware doesn't make or profit from "merch"

QueenMargot · 09/01/2020 17:28

That great then, because it did sound slightly racist.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 09/01/2020 17:29

I think that says far more about your processes than mine.

QueenMargot · 09/01/2020 17:29

Yes, roll out that old chestnut Grin

Fraggot · 09/01/2020 17:30

🙄

QueenMargot · 09/01/2020 17:32

That's. (sticky keyboard, sorry)

QueenMargot · 09/01/2020 17:33

That's on the that's before, not the second that oh never mind...

GlitchStitch · 09/01/2020 17:35

That great then, because it did sound slightly racist.

Oh give over.

doritosdip · 09/01/2020 17:38

I think we need to watch out for their baby #2 being monetized

William had to marry someone safe but Harry obviously didn't hence picking an American divorcee who wasn't going to deal with life like Kate (overlooking infidelity etc) I think that this puts Harry at a higher risk of divorce than Wills but he'll enjoy the perks of being married more than his older brother.

brassbrass · 09/01/2020 17:40

Sounds like they did submit a proposal of their plans a while back but have been stalled by the palace. They asked to meet the Queen when they arrived back in the UK but were put off again by courtiers so they obviously thought sod this and decided to go ahead. The RF haven't been blindsided they knew what the Sussexes wanted to do but hadn't thrashed out a way forward. Instead of putting out the statement they did the palace could have said something like yes we're aware of this and will continue to work with them to come to an appropriate arrangement. No need for the ridiculous vitriol in the press.

Disclaimer, I don't really care about any of this stuff but I've been watching the Crown (so I'm now an expert 🤣) and how they stonewalled Margaret on her wish to marry Peter Townsend makes me think the queen and palace courtiers don't really give a shit about anyone/anything but maintaining the royal institution.

Part of me also thinks Harry was very supportive of Will and Kate but when it was his turn they didn't do the same for him and no doubt this has really stung Harry. I really think William should have done more but I suspect he has his eye on his own little empire. None of them want to be eclipsed in popularity by Harry and Meghan. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

QueenMargot · 09/01/2020 17:41

Why should someone picking up on racist undercurrents give over? Seriously? Comments were made, I questioned them. If they were not intended in a racist way, I'm genuinely pleased.

Seriously?

beyondtheshed · 09/01/2020 17:50

I think it's a good thing for them, but I think their announcement was unkind and cruel. Why not something like this:

"We are excited to announce that as a family, we hope to be able to divide our time between both our home countries. As two adults who, we hope you will agree, have a lot to contribute to the world, we have decided, with the full support of HM The Queen, to update our roles, to give us more opportunity to make that contribution where we can. As such, we intend no longer to be funded by the Crown and will instead fund ourselves by working; something we have both done before and which we enjoy. We do hope you will support us in this and look forward to working with all of you in the future to make the world a better place."

Something like that anyway. I think this new style of running their own lives will suit them better though, and will probably be massively more lucrative for them than just being a 'senior' royal.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 09/01/2020 17:51

Yes, seriously. You have continued to insinuate I'm a racist and you don't expect me to be offended by that?

QueenMargot · 09/01/2020 17:53

I wasn't 'attempting to find offence'. Contrary to Daily Mail opinion, I don't think people go 'looking for' offence. It tends to come up at them. Sometimes they are mistaken. I replied to you, then I got the 'give over' message so I replied to that. How the hell is that goady?

Alsohuman · 09/01/2020 17:54

What’s the betting that in ten years time they’re divorced and he’s ensconced in Frogmore with his new British wife and second family?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 09/01/2020 17:55

That's pretty much what I think will happen human over by 2022 remarried by 2025

JacquesHammer · 09/01/2020 17:57

There’s something rather distasteful about salivating at the prospect of someone’s marriage breaking down.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 09/01/2020 17:58

You can think it will happen without "salivating over it" It would be sad for them both, but it feels inevitable.

KatyCarrCan · 09/01/2020 17:59

they did submit a proposal of their plans a while back but have been stalled by the palace. They asked to meet the Queen when they arrived back in the UK
I'm not sure where you got that. According to 'palace insiders' Harry told Charles he wanted to live part of the time in Canada (from Canada - just before Christmas - so less than a month ago). Charles told him to submit a proposal with timelines, costings, etc. Harry then arrived back in the UK, tried to go above his dad's head by asking the Queen for a meeting. She told him she'd meet him but he had to discuss his proposal with Charles not her and she didn't want him making an announcement until all the details were ironed out. Harry ignored her and announced it last night.
It's not even been a day and the RF are allowing lots of briefing against H&M from the above, to the Scotland Yard comments.
But, even bad publicity will be good for H&M because it feeds into their 'persecuted outsiders' image which is going down so well with the US celeb circuit.
