Reserve from the usual

You will never find me ordering an Indian takeaway as it is my least favourite food.

OP posts:
Stravapalava · 05/01/2020 19:28

I'm not a massive fan of fish & chips.

Chuffit · 05/01/2020 19:47

Any takeaway in the UK.
It's crap.

Crinkle77 · 05/01/2020 19:51

Chinese. Love fried rice, ribs and prawn crackers but apart from that bleurgh. I can't stand massive chunks of peppers and onions and I hate bean sprouts and water chestnuts. I also find a lot of the sauces overly sweet.

As I get older I’ve gone off takeaways more and more. I’m literally turning into my mother who has never ordered one in her life (she’s only in her 60s as well).

We have a couple of great Indian restaurants locally but we’re a family of 5 so by the time we’ve ordered it’s about £25 / £30 and I really could make something for the fraction of the cost.

That said, we used to have a brilliant kebab shop near us who did THE BEST grilled halloumi kebabs. Was really sad when that changed hands and there’s only a salad kebab for the veggies now Sad.

NationMcKinley · 05/01/2020 19:55

Oh! Just thought of one: there’s a Nigerian take away about 5 miles from us that does amazing jollof rice and fried plantain. Real shame they don’t deliver or maybe it’s not a bad thing for my waistline

ByeGermsByeWorries · 05/01/2020 19:57

Pizza. Prefer supermarket ones.
Mexican. Just don't fancy any of it.

I love most other foods but my favourites are Chinese Indian and Turkish.

mumderland · 05/01/2020 20:02

Indian. Tastes exactly like supermarket bagged ones

Eminybob · 05/01/2020 20:03

We rarely have takeaway these days as it just isn’t as nice as it used to be.

I would never order pizza, I prefer supermarket oven ones.

Indian I don’t think travels very well, I prefer to eat in.

Chinese, dh doesn’t eat so it’s just me and it is so hard to find a decent restaurant, and then a decent dish. I’ve had so many disappointments. If I do get one on the odd occasion dh is out I will never deviate from a particular dish from a particular place through fear of it being crap.

So on the plus side I’ve saved a lot of money and calories since I came to this conclusion!

aibutohavethisusername · 05/01/2020 20:10

Pizza

thatguiltyfeeling · 05/01/2020 20:10

Chinese because all the ones near us are rubbish. Chicken balls are amazing though so we do homemade other stuff and buy chicken balls from the only one out of three that actually do them.
I'd love to try a Thai restaurant as we have three I think but because I've only ever had a Thai green curry and I didn't like it I'm a bit nervous to try anything else, despite knowing they're not all going to taste of coconut.
Dominos is a regular takeaway we get but it makes me ill and it's overpriced so I resent getting it (partner loves it so we compromise and I choose a takeaway then he does).
We have a lovely Indian place that does deliveries and they're my first choice if we can splash the cash a bit, I love Indian food and yesterday had it for lunch and tea and then breakfast and lunch today (leftovers). Only drawback is it's so expensive and we don't like the same things which creates a lot of leftovers as portions are generous.
Subway is one I probably wouldn't get unless really desperate, it's nice enough but there's so many food places where I live it doesn't feel worth it.
No McDonald's, Burger King, or kfc nearby (all a half an hour at least drive) so we don't get it very often (only if one of us has gone to hospital and we've missed a meal because they're one the way home) but a few years back the person I lived with loved kfc so once a week we'd make the trip for it

redwoodmazza · 05/01/2020 20:12

I HATE spices so it's Indian for me too, OP. Yuck.

I always wonder why people say to me 'but there's only a little spice'. I HATE it all!!!! I hate cinnamon and cloves too. What if you made someone a coffee who didn't take sugar and then you said 'But there's only a little bit of sugar in it.' ???

ChristmassySpice · 05/01/2020 20:20

Rarely order takeaway as just can't justify it.

Hate fish and chips. Greasy awful stuff.
Love pizza, but will happily make my own or buy a £2 one from Supermarket and 'add to it'

Love Indian, Bangladesh, Lebanese food. Again though rarely order because of cost. My Mum and Dad frequented the local Asian supermarket in the 70's and taught themselves how to make a lot of dishes. I took notice. And hence, became a cook.

Did a 4 day Thai cookery course in Chang Mai and ended up very ill. (Using stinking chicken and crab / fish in outdoor heat of 40 degrees)

Never really liked Chinese food because of the slimy chicken and MSG / Cornflower use in commercial / takeaway places. However... the best Chinese food I've ever had was in Jamaica of all places. Also love proper Caribbean food too.

passthebucky · 05/01/2020 20:22

Pizza

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 05/01/2020 20:24

Chinese just not that keen

I never order pizza as a take away I can’t spend £15 on a piece dough with bits on

WindyMiller1020 · 05/01/2020 20:28

Chinese! Just dont get it, the sauces are so sugary/sweet/slimy. And i don't like all the veg they pad them out with, the veg outweighs the meat far too much.

If I'm ever in a group that decide on Chinese I just get the bog standard chinese chicken curry (the one with the yellow sauce and peas and mushrooms in) with boiled rice.

Egg fried rice is just horrible too.

Sorry, I'll stop now Grin I just assume that we do shit chinese over here, I'm sure it's really tasty if done properly.

ButterflyRuns · 05/01/2020 20:28

Indian. Whoops, just not that big on spicy food.

The80sweregreat · 05/01/2020 20:31

Kebabs are rank!

Mrsjayy · 05/01/2020 20:34

Pizza i'm not keen and domioes is bloody expensive Dh and dd1 get a pizza if me and dd2 are out,

Marshymallowy · 05/01/2020 20:49

Chippy. Just a bit boring.

BrigitsBigKnickers · 05/01/2020 21:02

Indian as I have a genetic violent dislike of coriander.

I was brought up on meat and two veg. The most exotic my mum stretched to was spaghetti bolognaise.

The first time I had an Indian was around the age of 24. My previous experience of "curry" was the orange stuff served up at a catholic primary school where we had to clear our plate or lose playtime.

DHs parents persuaded me to have some sort of non spicy dish ( butter chicken or some such crap) it tasted like it had been marinaded in lemon washing up liquid. Bleugh! It was relatively recently that I realised the flavour I despised was coriander

mrsbyers · 05/01/2020 21:03

Pizza here too , but I do enjoy a piece of a ‘whole hog’ pizza from M&S new range - they are delicious

FuckingHateRats · 05/01/2020 21:04

Pizza. Think decent supermarket ones are fine, but I can't do Chinese/Indian/Thai as well as a good takeaway.

userxx · 05/01/2020 21:05

Fried chicken 🤢

patchworkelephant123 · 05/01/2020 21:06

Hate take away pizza, prefer a frozen one. Such a waste of money.

flatpack1 · 05/01/2020 21:09

Pizza
