I would love an update about the man who very sadly lost his wife and had a little boy. Lots of people questioned whether it was real and the posts were taken down. I felt sad about this for a long time - I think he needed help. It was about 3 or 4 years ago but I still think about them and wonder how the little boy is. Does anyone remember this?

FruitcakeOfHate · 05/01/2020 00:28

The gal from Morocco who married a Moroccan man who already had 3 kids by 3 different baby mamas; she had 2 by him in Morocco but managed to (Hmm) till get a spousal visa to come here, only to have the marriage go down the swanny and the guy move in with some gal and she thought she was going to be able to get loads of money from him and full benefits and a place in London.

YY to lunch club!

The woman with a grubby AF lodger who left the window open and trashed the room and kitchen and used their toiletries.

DramaAlpaca · 05/01/2020 00:31

newyearagain that was one of the worst trolls ever on MN. I wouldn't waste your sympathy on that thread or give it another thought, tbh.

In fact I'm a cynical old thing and would be willing to bet that most, if not all of the threads mentioned above (with a couple of exceptions) were works of fiction.

LongstantonSpiceMuseum · 05/01/2020 00:42

Ah can someone link to the rugby tickets thread?

Loveablers · 05/01/2020 00:44

@SF1269 the woman who had the twins?! It was a troll?!

Branster · 05/01/2020 00:46

The summer clothes on a plane thread(s) - I often think about the OP and I really, really hope she and the kids are OK. The threads were deleted for obvious reasons and I have no idea if I’ll ever come across any updates by accident.

museumsandgalleries666 · 05/01/2020 00:59

What happened to the lady in NZ whose husband told his friends they could stay in their house while he and op were on holiday? Op didn't want them to stay but husband overruled. Friends didn't want to socialise, just wanted to stay when owners were away.

FruitcakeOfHate · 05/01/2020 01:03

Drama is right, a lot of the really dramatic and sadly, bereavement threads are bollocks.

Barracker · 05/01/2020 01:13

I would love to hear an update on FranLyon and her baby Molly, who would now be 12 years old.
At the time her case was utterly terrifying, and her posts on Mumsnet were so articulate and measured, especially given the unbelievable way she was being treated by social services at the time.
I often think about her and wonder how she and Molly are doing after all this time. I truly hope they are living a happy, healthy life together.

beanaseireann · 05/01/2020 01:23

"The Ten White Horsemen of the Apocalypse Wedding "
It was a wedding/ family fallout thread.

Also a thread a few years back where a poster heard a click when she used the loo during the night.

PegasusReturns · 05/01/2020 01:34

Years ago there was a thread about someone challenging a will. There were periodic updates but I lost it before it was resolved.

Would love to know if it got sorted

Walnutwhipster · 05/01/2020 01:43

There was a poster hell bent on blaming her ex husband for destroying her life and had 18 year old twins. No matter how many people told her she was wrong she wouldn't acknowledge anyone who disagreed with her. She posted several long threads.
Also a poster who was only marrying someone so he paid for a told US university.

PhilipJennings · 05/01/2020 02:01

@Loveablers no she wasn't a troll, but there was a bit of troll hunting on her last thread and I think the negativity from that and also the fallout from her marriage (combined with having to go back to work sooner than she expected) discouraged her from wanting to make any further contributions to the threads.

I don't think that one was a troll at all. But she did write extremely well and her expression of pain was so relatable it stuck with a lot of people, although wherever she is now, I'm sure she'd sooner forget it ever happened.

PhilipJennings · 05/01/2020 02:07

At least, the one I'm thinking of was OpheliaRose, and I don't think that was ever confirmed to be suspect. (3yo twins, blowjob in the stationery closet at work type of cheating husband.)

I thought the best-friends-brother one was somebody else.

Mummyoflittledragon · 05/01/2020 02:22

The very religious woman in the US, who’s husband used to “correct” ie spank her using Christian domestic discipline. All of the threads got pulled as she couldn’t cope with the number of people telling her she needed to end her marriage. She posted a few threads over the course of maybe 6 months. Perhaps in 2018.

DramaAlpaca · 05/01/2020 02:29

OpheliaRose was very much suspect, I'm sure of that.

Lots of trolls 'write extremely well'. That's one thing I've noticed. They are very articulate and use their writing skills to draw people in.

TheGoldenChild · 05/01/2020 02:36

Two that always stuck in my mind.
The first one was the lady who woke up to being raped by her husband. She packed her stuff the next day and left and was given tonnes of support and kept everyone updated on her piecing her life together but wouldn't call the police. I wonder if she's doing ok now.
The second one was the man on the post office steps riddle. That got under everyone's skin for a long time only to find out that there wasn't even an answer to it! Angry

PhilipJennings · 05/01/2020 02:39

I dunno Drama, I think they usually try too hard to fuel it after the first post and people give them too much credit for writing skills.

I had a friend who used to regularly troll a different board a decade ago but it was always the most trivial shite people get most wound up about.. and she was spotted a mile off in every form.

HalfManHalfLabrador · 05/01/2020 02:52

The painting under the bed and the missing ironing board. Also the PIL who were insisting on payment for the broken wine glass.

DramaAlpaca · 05/01/2020 02:54

That's true, Philip, some of them get a bit carried away and start over-egging things. The mention of twins always makes me suspicious, though Grin

TheGoldenChild that was the Boswell thing, wasn't it? It was bloody annoying.

HalfManHalfLabrador · 05/01/2020 02:54

Dick trying to muscle his way onto the girls trip!!!

SleepwalkingThroughLife · 05/01/2020 02:57

A current-ish one I think, but what is the story with the 120 personalised new year messages?

FruitcakeOfHate · 05/01/2020 03:00

Was that the Spain one, Half? They got called out and thrown off the trip and they all had a great time with him and his wife.
