Hi everyone, back after a week skiing I think the running has helped my leg/core/fitness for skiing though!

I repeated W4R3 again today. Can’t decide whether to stick with it a few more times or jump into W5R1 on Thursday...

sovielverloren · 25/02/2020 07:08

Good to see everyone is keeping going! Did W8R2 this morning - should have gone last night but it just didn't work with trying to fit everything in and eating at a reasonable hour, so I set my alarm for 5am and plodded out. Was considerably slower than on Saturday, but that's no matter compared to actually completing the run! For the first time I didn't stop the second Sarah came in to tell me I could stop running!
Let's keep going!

CormoranStrike · 25/02/2020 12:32

W8r3 done - outside in sunshine (and a bit of drizzle) for the first time in a week.

My legs felt sluggish and heavy, but I managed to keep going, my distance was less however, so that’s one to work on.

I managed to do W8 R1 today after a very busy morning at work. I did my usual route, but my fitbit watch says it was half a mile shorter than usual. After I ran, I kept on walking, so a total of 57 minutes, nearly 5 miles and 900 calories burned. Someone stop me eating alllll the chocolate and spoiling my hard work!

onedayallthiswillbeyours · 25/02/2020 19:26

I've been a run failure for 9
days (crap excuses include: stormy weather, feeling "like I'm coming down with something" I didn't, too busy, half term blah blah etc etc). Anyway got back on it today woo hoo and actually felt fitter and stronger so maybe the break has done me some good. Managed an 8 minute non-stop run which is my longest yet.

Swapped from my usual couch to 10K app to the Zombies today and really enjoyed it. The zombie workout is a bit longer (45 min total work out rather than 30 mins with the 10K app) but I did find it a bit more interesting and enjoyed breaking up the monotony of "walk/run/walk" with a few knee lifts and some shorter sprint runs in addition to the longer run sections. Still find running so boring though Blush

frustratedashell · 26/02/2020 02:08

Did week 8 run 2 today. Fell 2 minutes short though , but realised the bloody treadmill had decided to randomly chuck an incline in at the end. No wonder I struggled for the last 2 mins!! Lol
So I walked for 5 mins and ran for 26 (not 28) but thats the same asmy best run yet ,
So happy with that. Have now found out how to not have inclines popping up willy nilly. So hoping for better next time.
Great to hear your success stories.
@onedayallthiswillbeyours, I had a week of bad runs then got back to usual progress. I agree, I think sometimes a rest is good even if it's frustrating.

Florabella · 26/02/2020 16:57

Wk8R2 for me this morning, and it was a much better one than the last two. I just hope that there are some dry periods in the next week to get the last 4 runs done

Imposib · 26/02/2020 22:03

Week 7 run 3 for me last night... felt really good at the 25 minute point so ran another 5! Only covered 4K on the run bit though

frustratedashell · 26/02/2020 23:55

@Imposib, only covered 4k!? I wish! Great result

MrsHerculePoirot · 27/02/2020 11:30

It’s inspiring me seeing you all on your week 8 runs!

I went out today (when the snow stopped 🤣) and stepped up to W5R1. I actually LOVED it - and was desperate to go. What has happened to me?!?

CormoranStrike · 27/02/2020 13:10

Woooo hooo first run of week nine done and my final training session before the actual 5k on Saturday.

I’m proud to say apart from week one where I couldn’t complete the 60 second runs, I haven’t skipped a run or stopped, I’ve kept on going!

Today, including my warm up and cool down walks, I completed 5.3k in 43 minutes, so slow, but doing it.

Hopefully on Saturday I can come back in here to tell you about my first, very special race.

CormoranStrike · 27/02/2020 13:11

Oh, and in week nine your narrator reflects on the progress today - I actually felt emotional when Sanjeev told me how proud he was of me.

Imposib · 27/02/2020 14:40

@CormoranStrike well done! I’ve been late running some then jumped forward a bit, I’m heading out with a friend and the group she runs with tonight, it’s a hilly town.. something I’ve avoided so far, also never ran with anyone other than my 2 year old Smile planning on running my first 5k Saturday when I visit my best friend.... let you know how it goes

CormoranStrike · 27/02/2020 14:42

Best of luck @Imposib - I haven’t tried hills at all yet

Imposib · 27/02/2020 14:52

I’ve done slight incline but that’s it... I have a feeling I might regret this later! I’ve loved couch 2 5 k this thread inspired me and a friend being 2 runs ahead of me ignited my competitive nature to keep going x

ringletsandtwiglets · 27/02/2020 17:53

I've just done my first post-whole-day-at-work run- W8R2. I've been off work for 6 months, and then on a phased return for the last 6 weeks, so I've been doing my runs on my days off/ half days. I got home today, tired and a bit achey, but got my gear on before I sat down and went for it.

I got to 14 minutes and was ready to give up, but told myself 'one more song', and by the time I'd got to 20 minutes, I told myself there was no point stopping when I only had 8 minutes to go. Now I'm body-tired, but feeling that rush. :)

CormoranStrike · 27/02/2020 18:12

What an achievement, well done @ringletsandtwiglets

Imposib · 27/02/2020 18:55

Well done @ringletsandtwiglets! I’ve just been out, should be wk8 run1, I went with a group did hills sprints chatted and covered 4.49k in 31mins!! I am feeling on top of the world!! Running in a group has pushed me further than I thought possible x

CormoranStrike · 27/02/2020 19:28

That’s amazing @Imposib

frustratedashell · 27/02/2020 22:27

Oh well done ladies! That's brilliant. I didnt run today for various reasons but I hope to tomorrow.

bettytaghetti · 27/02/2020 23:41

You are all absolutely amazing and such a fantastic inspiration to keep on going! Well done!

Imposib · 28/02/2020 07:37

Still feeling the buzz from last night.... and aches now too 🤣🤣

Ulysses · 28/02/2020 14:25

Excellent work all!

W8R1 done and dusted for me. I even followed it by going for a swim afterwards. I can't believe myself these days.

crapette · 28/02/2020 15:27

I am way behind most of you and have just finished week4 (for the second time)

Finally today I think I actually "got it". It was still really hard, but I didn't have to consciously think about putting one foot in front of the other, and I was able to breathe properly for the whole time.

Great relief to be told that the final 5 mins was up, but I could probably have run for a bit longer and I am no longer dreading moving on to W5 on Monday.

frustratedashell · 28/02/2020 16:50

OMG just did week 8, run 2. (On treadmill) Meant to be brisk walk for 5 mins, run for 28. Well all was going well ,so I kept going and going. Only made it to 37 minutes didnt i ?!
I'm absolutely thrilled to bits. Did 4.13 k , including the walking bit.

I do hope this isn't a fluke.
