We are playing board games Smile

As little as possible, we had a party last night and I’m knackered, DH is just back from New Year’s Day Park run. The house was sort of cleared up last night by DH and I. I have just heard DS chatting to his two friends who came along and slept in his room last night. Will probably have a take away tonight and watch films will have our daily do the Times crossword together. I will go out for a very short 20 min walk at some point.

PullingMySocksUp · 01/01/2020 11:28

Planning to be in bed with book, tea and dog for as long as possible!

Skittlesandbeer · 01/01/2020 11:30

Having a very virtuous early walk to the shops & beach with my 9yo dd. We are in a holiday town, in peak tourist week of the year. No chance of parking (or driving anywhere, really) so meandering around in gorgeous 25o weather, singing to ourselves and patting all the doggies out for walks.

Happily leaving behind the housework, which will have to be tackled later on. Houseguests (who never lifted a finger) have just left, so feeling very liberated! Sky’s the limit (but 7 washloads to hang out later!).

ipswichwitch · 01/01/2020 11:32

PullingMySocksUp I’d love a cuddly dog like that - we have a cat that stomps all over you for a bit then once you’re well and truly awake she buggers off downstairs again 🙄

NaughtyLittleElf · 01/01/2020 11:32

When I can get my arse into gear the Christmas decorations are coming down, the living room is being sorted and the fridge is being cleaned out, got washing to do, back to work tomorrow.

jobbymcginty · 01/01/2020 11:32

We're going up to my dads for steak pie then I'm nightshift tonight and tomorrow

ScouseQueen · 01/01/2020 11:34

I like NYD as a last day to be lazy before things speed up again. It's kind of enforced by everything being shut.
I remember being told not to do washing as well as a pp said! Do need to do some though.
We are going for a curry later. Very little else planned.

selmabear · 01/01/2020 11:39

Kids are with their dad until tomorrow so I'm having a lazy day today, take the doggo for a walk and watch shit tv.

Junglebells2019 · 01/01/2020 11:40

I've been for a run, now motivating the rest of the family to come out on a long dog walk. Baked Camembert, pate and fresh baguette for lunch. Then a film on the sofa together, probably a Harry Potter.

Sausage and lentil casserole later - lentils eaten on NYD bring luck and prosperity, apparently!

Happy new year, everyone. Wishing you a happy and peaceful 2020.

CrowleysBentley · 01/01/2020 11:41

I'm in bed arsing around on my phone, thinking about getting up soon, cat is curled up on me being cute. I'm a little worried about DD as she's just texted saying she's on her own at work (pub, but it's totally empty apparently) for the next couple of hours and is feeling unwell. There's a nasty virus going around and a couple of her friends from work have had it, so I think it might be her turn now. She's supposed to finish at 6, though would I hope they let her leave early if she's sick. Unfortunately the manager is a total dick and might well make her stay (she is looking for another job at the moment). He is supposed to be working at the moment, but has fucked off and left her on her own. Again.

I need to clean the kitchen from last night's party food cooking and make a start on dinner at some point. My oven broke on Christmas day, and I had the replacement delivered a couple of days ago, so I had frozen the turkey crown and all the extras and we are having a belated Christmas dinner tonight. I might make myself a cheese and tomato omelette for lunch. Nicely hangover free, as I only drank one G&T last night, just didn't fancy any alcohol really. I have to be fairly quiet about things as DS is sleeping, having worked from home from 7pm to 7am. I don't want to wake him up until early evening. Quiet, lazy day really.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/01/2020 11:41

This little dude really doesn't want to get up!

What’s everyone doing today New Year’s Day?
BoogleMcGroogle · 01/01/2020 11:42

I spent yesterday developing raging cystitis and just got home in time for midnight from the fantastically efficient out of hours service at our local hospital who furnished me with a dose of antibiotics.

Feeling better already but it'll be a quiet day with a beach walk and some cooking. I've read a long interview with Edna O'Brian and daughter is glued to the latest Percy Jackson book. Leftover Christmas ham, fried potatoes and sauerkraut for supper.

And this evening...Dr Who ( yay!)

Xiaoxiong · 01/01/2020 11:43

We had no choice but to do washing today as DCs have no trousers clean!

Had a nice extended breakfast with smoked salmon and bagels and mini croissants baked from frozen

DH has walked the dog and cleared up the kitchen, now playing one of his instruments

DCs watching a film following a whole morning playing lego in their pjs

I have prepped the dinner (chicken traybake) and will go do 30 mins of exercise

This afternoon I hope we all have the energy to do a big dog walk and then go to the cinema.

Then we sort furniture and house stuff out in preparation for our new au pair's arrival!

BlueSkies2020 · 01/01/2020 11:47

Watching Oklahoma on iPlayer in PJs and eating chocolate while baby and dad naps (poorly!) and DD watches Nativity for the 1000th time in the kitchen!

LadyAllegraImelda · 01/01/2020 11:52

board games, lazy day, roast dinner at some point if anyone CBA to make it! and likely a movie

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/01/2020 11:53

I am on day three of a feverish cold brought home from visiting MIL and DH, so I sit here surrounded by tissues, medication and waterbottles. I wanted to cuddle the cat, but he's grumpy.
I started to "close the financial year of 2019" Grin still waiting for DH's "accounting" to finish our status properly and I opened the year 2020.

Spitsandspots · 01/01/2020 11:54

Watching Pete’s dragon and trying not to cry

LadyAllegraImelda · 01/01/2020 11:54

Jealous of all those being able to have a beach walk!

Pascha · 01/01/2020 11:57

Writing an assignment.

DH has taken the outside lights down and put them away in the roof. Lots of pottering, laundry, cleaning etc. Kids are playing Mario kart.

They will play with friends later who live nearby and I am making beef stew and dumplings for dinner.

ParkheadParadise · 01/01/2020 11:58

Got home from my sister's house at 5am.
DH and Dd are still sleeping. I'm staying in my jammies thankfully I don't have a hangover, as I was driving.
Quiet day today Homemade Soup, Steak Pie for dinner later on.
Happy New Year 🥂🥂

Yerbumsootthewindae · 01/01/2020 11:58

Eating steak pie as required by Scottish new years day law. Will attempt to get kids dressed at some point but I'm not overly optimistic about achieving this!

InterstellarDrifter · 01/01/2020 11:59

We all had a late night (3am including the kids) so I’m lazing around with coffee and tv, kids are in bed, dh about to go out.
We’ll go for a walk once everyone is up and eaten.

Then a lazy afternoon watching films or board games if the dcs are up for it, easy roast for dinner.

I’ve been watching Britain’s favourite walks and am inspired to do some of those. Stunning.

cushioncovers · 01/01/2020 11:59

Housework and visit family

DonPablo · 01/01/2020 12:01

Cooking for our nyd dinner party later! I think we have 15 coming!

So far the potatoes have been peeled and sliced ready for the dauphinois and I'm about to start the beef bourguignon. Mushotrom bourguignon for the veggies.

Soo much to do!

frogsbreath · 01/01/2020 12:01

Cleaning and tidying etc

Making a steak pie

Making trifle (ds thinks they are posh 😂)

Walk in the woods later

Yu Gi Oh! (Ds's new obsession)
