I am awake with a drug withdrawing baby, I can hear next-door but one neighbour's cockerel crowing and the sky is strangely light out there.

Struggling with sleep due to pregnancy. It's light here too, I can see it coming round the edges of my blackout blind.

VirtualHamster · 29/12/2019 02:49

Jetlag

neverornow · 29/12/2019 02:49

My 3 month old is sick and I'm upset about being let down by my friends.

Is the baby ok? Poor little thing

Jenasaurus · 29/12/2019 02:50

MakeLemonade · 29/12/2019 02:52

Three month old with a cold here.

Poor baby, OP. How long until he/she is likely to feel better?

coffeeoclock · 29/12/2019 02:53

Standard insomnia for me Sad

Danni12 · 29/12/2019 02:55

Fell asleep in front of the TV this evening and now cannot sleep....how is your baby doing?

DookofBust · 29/12/2019 02:59

Period pains and indigestion woke me up. Then wondering where my kitten was stopped me from turning over and going back to sleep .... he appeared and keeps pouncing on my arm.

bloodywhitecat · 29/12/2019 03:01

The baby is over the worst now but night times in particular seem tough, this could go on for a few weeks yet. Sorry to hear your baby is poorly @neverornow, it's so hard when the are so small and ill Flowers

bumpysleighridejack · 29/12/2019 03:04

Thanks for you OP, I had that a couple of weeks back. Pumping/ feeding on the kids ward in hospital with my 2 month old. 3rd admission so far with bronc, it's going to be a long winter.

mortforya · 29/12/2019 03:05

Slept earlier as am sick and now have headache and can't sleep Confused

Jenasaurus · 29/12/2019 03:05

If I was asleep I would be awake now, my neighbour has just tooted his horn really loudly outside my window! its 3am!

NickMyLipple · 29/12/2019 03:06

At work! Struggling to stay awake in the bedroom of a 8 year old who has complex medical needs.

I'm also soooooo cold!

YorkieTheRabbit · 29/12/2019 03:06

Our burglar alarm started beeping, as if a door had been opened. No sign of anything untoward but I’m now wide awake and one of our dogs won’t stop whining Xmas Sad
Sorry to hear about the baby, poor little thing

mortforya · 29/12/2019 03:06

Sorry to hear of all the sick babies and sorry to hear that your friends let you down itsnowornever, that's never easy to experience

Packit · 29/12/2019 03:08

I went to sleep earlier, the telly woke me up, so I can’t get back to sleep probably not for a couple of hours.

littledarkage · 29/12/2019 03:08

Chronic insomnia for nearly 20 years! But that must be v annoying for you, hope it all can settle down for you

lily1062 · 29/12/2019 03:09

We are in a ward, as my 18 month old has brochoilitis and a chest infection, though she has just been weaned down to no oxygen so hopefully if I can get her to start drinking we can go home tomorrow!

littledarkage · 29/12/2019 03:09

Oh gosh I'm so paranoid, I hope that didn't read sarcastic it really wasnt Blush

bloodywhitecat · 29/12/2019 03:10

@NickMyLipple I did your job in my former life, it is so hard to stay awake in the dark isn't it? Many of our kids had some form of overnight ventilation/O2 overnight and very few of the homes had heating on overnight.

DramaAlpaca · 29/12/2019 03:10

I had a nap earlier and am wide awake, but I'm a night owl anyway.

OP, have you read the thread in Classics about the drug dependent baby? It's informative, uplifting, happy and sad all at the same time.

bloodywhitecat · 29/12/2019 03:13

@littledarkage, I knew what you meant. A working life of 24/7 shifts and two kids with silent asthma meant insomnia was the bane of my life for years. It's horrendous isn't it?

@lily1062 I will keep my fingers crossed for your discharge today!

OP posts:
bloodywhitecat · 29/12/2019 03:14

@DramaAlpaca No, I haven't I shall have a look now, thank you.

OP posts:
NickMyLipple · 29/12/2019 03:14

@bloodywhitecat it is very hard! Even more so knowing that in 4 hours I'll be heading home to my 22 month old who will want me to help chop her wooden play food, stir the pots and pans and definitely not rest! I've asked DP to take her out but he has man flu, so not looking likely!!

Are you a foster carer?

Confuddledtown · 29/12/2019 03:15

My husband woke me up to ask me to move over and give him more room while I'm clinging on to edge of the bed like grim death so that he can lie spread eagled bang in the middle of the bed. Cant get back to sleep now, while he blissfully and ignorantly snores his head off. Contemplating smothering him with his pillow.
