Just that really? Any other households where the men do the cooking? My dad always did dinner too! Hubby is by far a better cook!! Happy Christmas 🎄

Yep mine.

I do all the present wrapping and shopping, he cooks dinner.

I clear up after

BirdandSparrow · 25/12/2019 12:12

I'm making today's because we live in Spain and DH is Spanish and I'm British (we're having a sort of roast) but he made last night's. It's traditional to have a big celebratory meal on Christmas Eve in Spain. He made pork sirloin in a Pedro Ximenez, raisin and pine nut sauce. He cooks more than me because he's much better at it.

CathyorClaire · 25/12/2019 12:14

Yep. He does the Sunday roast every week too.

I recognise I am v. lucky Smile

Mine is trying, but PIL keep interfering. Fine by me, they're all amazing cooks, I'm sitting with a glass of wine and --MNing- entertaining DC!

Brot64 · 25/12/2019 12:16

Yep mine. Together with my father.

They have been in the kitchen since 10.30 this morning, drinking the fizz, chatting and I am hoping cooking as we are supposed to sit for lunch at 2pm.

AllTheHippos · 25/12/2019 12:17

Yep! I'm drinking Buck's Fizz and watching a film with the DC while he's getting on. It smells gorgeous.

TheChosenTwo · 25/12/2019 12:17

Yes, he does every year aswell as most of the day to day cooking. I have never cooked a roast in my life despite eating one at home most sundays for 18 years Grin
He’s been prepping and cooking for 3 days, cleaning up behind himself.
I’ve done all the present shopping and wrapping. Works for us!

Backofthebunty · 25/12/2019 12:18

My husbands tradition was to ban me from the kitchen on Christmas Day - he said my job was to sit in the settee and eat the quality street. My 3 little boys loved stopping me going in - I had to pretend to go in and they would be dragging me away.
He died suddenly a few years ago and every year since my 3 now adult sons have banned me from the kitchen. The 2 oldest have come up from London and are busy in the kitchen whilst I am laying on the settee. He taught them well and we will toast him later x

MistletoeNWine · 25/12/2019 12:19

Yep! I am in charge of chopping and stirring Grin

maddiemookins16mum · 25/12/2019 12:20

God no. It would be ruined (well not ruined but just not as good as mine).
DP has done the litter tray, washed up, collected visitors, ran me a bath, purchased batteries (😊😊), peeled potatoes and is now entertaining guests so I can cook in peace. That’s how we like it.
All the washing up will be done by DP later with a spotless kitchen by 7pm. Bliss.

MogHog · 25/12/2019 12:23

Mine is in charge of the lamb as it always tastes so much better when he does it. I'm doing everything else.

VenusClapTrap · 25/12/2019 12:24

Yep. Dh does 90% of the cooking here. He travels a lot for work so he even batch cooks before he goes and leaves us Tupperwares of nice food for us to heat up while he’s away.

I do all the Christmas mental load, present shopping, school stuff, extended family visiting logistics etc, so I don’t feel bad about him doing all the catering.

pemberlyshades · 25/12/2019 12:28

I made the bread sauce and opened the Prosecco! #helping

motherofawhirlwind · 25/12/2019 12:30

Yep - it's part of my Christmas present and I love it. I get to sit in bed or on the sofa, drinking bucks fizz and a magnificent dinner appears. He doesn't usually cook at all.

MrsBartlet · 25/12/2019 12:31

Yes my dh is always in charge of Christmas dinner. He is much more relaxed about it than I am and I have a less stressful day as a result!

EbbandTheWanderingHearts · 25/12/2019 12:40

Mine is. Happy days! Grin

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 25/12/2019 12:44

Today is our 12th Christmas together, and the 10th since DH took on cooking/meal planning/food shopping as being automatically his jobs (I traded him for laundry/hoovering). He asked our 4yo what she wanted for Christmas Dinner so we're having toad in the hole followed by strawberry jelly Xmas Grin

Sewingbea · 25/12/2019 12:45

I am cooking. He is entertaining his family. Works for me Xmas Grin

WatchingFromTheWings · 25/12/2019 12:46

Ive never cooked a Christmas dinner in my life! Both my exh and dh always do it.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 25/12/2019 12:46

Yep DH always cooks Christmas Dinner. I clear away and keep the DC entertained/keep drinks topped up while we wait for our lovely lunch.

He loves doing it, though.

Fishcakey · 25/12/2019 12:47

Yep mine does all the cooking. No one would dare eat the turkey if I cooked it Grin

Kannet · 25/12/2019 12:47

Yup. Won't be setting foot in the kitchen today

Soosiesoo · 25/12/2019 12:47

Joint effort here Xmas Smile

AFireInJuly · 25/12/2019 12:47

Yes, he’s much better at it than me. I can do scrambled eggs on toast but that’s about it.

666onmyhead · 25/12/2019 12:48

Yes it's happening as I type ... I did offer to help - and have done a bit of prep and laid table etc but he took over one year I had flu and enjoyed doing it so much he's been doing it ever since . To begin with I was a bit miffed, but now I just let him crack on.
