Anyone else’s dh making the dinner??

Just that really? Any other households where the men do the cooking? My dad always did dinner too! Hubby is by far a better cook!! Happy Christmas 🎄

I love dh to bits but if he did the Christmas dinner we would probably all die from food poisoning Grin

GrumpyHoonMain · 25/12/2019 14:34

Yep.

Roselilly36 · 25/12/2019 14:41

My DH is making the dinner, he cooks for us everyday in any case. He loves cooking and I am disabled so it works well for our family.

Nope. He's washing up, as is only right and good. I'm drinking wine and playing with my presents 😊

CactusAndCacti · 25/12/2019 14:51

Did it between us, mind it is only a glorified roast, only have mil and she only eats a little.

I carve though and he mashes.

AwdBovril · 25/12/2019 14:54

Yes! DH does most of the roast dinners here, he's a great cook. (I am also a good cook, but he enjoys doing the roast.)

I made breakfast. And wrapped all DD's presents.

MissEliza · 25/12/2019 15:02

My dh has sorted the turkey and is going to do the gravy. I really appreciate it because we're staying with my df who has basically announced this morning that he expected me to do it all. That's not that bad but as he's always cooked when we visit, I wasn't prepared. Df has forgotten to buy so much but dh has just rolled his sleeves up. I guess he's not that bad after all.

torthecatlady · 25/12/2019 15:02

We normally cook together but I've been really ill this last week and if I still feel like it tomorrow will be swiftly taking myself to hospital.

After opening presents with dss, I went back to bed all morning whilst DH cooked lunch and he did the dishes too.

He made a big effort and I feel bad that I couldn't eat much or help. So I'll definitely need to make it up to him next year.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 25/12/2019 15:04

Yes, mine. We've just finished a superb lunch. Thanks, DH!

KnitFastDieWarm · 25/12/2019 15:08

Yep! I’ve done bacon sprouts and glazed carrots, that’s it. Currently necking Prosecco and MNing while family entertain DC. Grew up with my dad doing the Christmas lunch too.

happypotamus · 25/12/2019 15:11

It was a joint effort but he did most of it really. I put the meat in (he doesn't eat meat), peeled some potatoes and made batter for yorkshire pudding, then he did most of the rest while I watched The Snowman with DC, then I helped at the end. I did make a plan in the morning though with timings of when each thing should be put in the oven etc. That was hard. We have never done our own Christmas dinner before because usually we go to family and/ or I am at work and we rarely do a Sunday roast.

isseywith4vampirecats · 25/12/2019 15:11

no way he faffs around that much todays dinner would be served about 10pm tonight I cook Christmas day dinner

amillionyearspregnant · 25/12/2019 15:12

Yes, mine 🙂

CormoranStrike · 25/12/2019 15:13

My son does it in this house, daughter has made pudding.

Bloomburger · 25/12/2019 15:15

DH is. He's just exclaimed that we've messed up buying a pot of beef and a pot of turkey gravy. After too much Buck's Fizz we've decided to mix them together DD and her BF and the other DCs would eat shit as long as it meant they didn't have to do anything to get it to the table 🙄

MitziK · 25/12/2019 16:03

And dinner was very nice. I dealt with the brassicas and beef, he did everything else apart from set the table.

We just seem to have catered for about 6 people for three days when there's only the two of us here.

I have suggested that the gammon joint goes into the freezer for New Year's, as there is no way we're going to be in any position to even consider eating it for another week.

Cantdecidewhere · 25/12/2019 16:31

@Backofthebunty enjoy your day, your boys sound great.
My dh is cooking and he does the Sunday roasts too when he's not working. I do most of the day to day cooking and having a dinner cooked for me is a massive treat. He's great at cooking but not so good on cleaning up after himself!

Cherrysoup · 25/12/2019 16:33

Mine made it, I sat with the dog on my knee and watched. Bliss.

Shosha1 · 25/12/2019 16:38

DH does all the cooking in our house. I used to when we first married as he had never cooked a meal in his life. So I taught him. He is now the better cook and God help anyone getting in the way in HIS kitchen. I am now disabled so just get in his way. DDIL has offered to help. She got a Paddington hard stare and came and drank bucks fizz instead Grin

TheElfFellOffTheShelf · 25/12/2019 17:01

Dh cooked ours. We had a fillet of beef (and a mushroom wellington for me) served with roasted roots, mash, field veg, sprouts fried in honey and Marmite and a yorkshire pudding. It took about an hour to cook & serve. It was delicious. He does most of the cooking because I hate it!

Zinnia · 25/12/2019 17:58

@CormoranStrike is that you, Mum?

(Obviously not, my mum barely knows what the internet is)

DH makes the lunch at my mum's. I do make the pudding. He is a much better cook than either of us, to be fair.

CormoranStrike · 25/12/2019 18:38

Haha @Zinnia

EndoplasmicReticulum · 25/12/2019 19:54

Yes, mine did. I had pre made and frozen gravy, cranberry sauce and red cabbage, and I did sprouts today, my mum peeled veg and made stuffing but husband was in charge of goose and potatoes and timings.

Deathraystare · 26/12/2019 13:26

My husbands tradition was to ban me from the kitchen on Christmas Day - he said my job was to sit in the settee and eat the quality street.

Sounds like a nice job! Well, someone has to eat more than their own weight of Quality Street!

BarbedBloom · 26/12/2019 14:30

We cooked together and he did all the prep. We share cooking during the week or cook together as we enjoy doing it while listening to music and chatting about our day
