Justdoit I agree. Definitely the turkey as previously posted 🦃 Other meat is pinker too

Horsemad · 25/12/2019 00:25

The one with mesh looks to be turkey, it's the right shape imo.

magicstar1 · 25/12/2019 00:25

The string one is definitely the ham, mesh is turkey. The ham is a lot darker pink.

I have to say my first thought was turkey in red mesh but I'd be able to tell if you post pics of them both cooked I think. Ham will be very pink whereas turkey will be white like chicken breast when cooked. Can you post pics of slithers fried? definitely not laughing at the thought of turkey cooked in coke

UnderTheButtNutHut · 25/12/2019 01:19

Mine came from the butchers, ham was vacuum packed the turkey had string.

UnderTheButtNutHut · 25/12/2019 01:21

Sorry I meant Turkey had mesh.

I am no help at all.

NoWifeyWork2020 · 25/12/2019 01:23

Mesh is turkey. String is ham? Surely?

magicstar1 · 25/12/2019 01:39

Think of it this way...the turkey has been boned and rolled so needs mesh to hold it together. The ham doesn’t need as much support. .

Mrschainsawuk · 25/12/2019 01:44

Mesh is definitely turkey I work in a butchers

fligglepige · 25/12/2019 04:26

Oh I'm sorry, I clicked on this thread ready to laugh at you for being so silly not to be able to tell them apart and I cannot tell which is which at all Xmas Grin

slipperywhensparticus · 25/12/2019 04:35

I wonder what Turkey tastes like cooked in coke....

sashh · 25/12/2019 04:42

I think the mesh is turkey.

Put the one you think is ham in the sc with nothing, after an hour or so it will start to smell and fat will run off, at this point if it is ham add the coke if it isn't either leave in the sc or transfer to the oven and cook as normal, if it is cooked early let it rest, it can be warmed up later to serve with the veg.

happycamper11 · 25/12/2019 06:37

I think the mesh is turkey but the fact the butcher says otherwise is a problem 😆. I also came here thinking what an idiot and am eating my words.. sorry for that OP

happycamper11 · 25/12/2019 06:38

Also yes you can get ham with no fat, the gammon joints I buy are fat free

pelirocco123 · 25/12/2019 06:44

My turkey came wrapped in skin !

Timberoo · 25/12/2019 07:01

The first one with a lump of fat, that looks vacuum packed to me, is ham. The second one in a mesh of some sort - is turkey.
Turkey doesn't have fat really.

Mummyoflittledragon · 25/12/2019 07:18

I also think the mesh is turkey. There is a lump of fat on the one with string. There is also a lot of marbling in the joint with the string, which i wouldn’t have expected to see in bird meat.

Two photos of turkey. First you see the white fascial tissue (membrane) similar to the meshed joint. The second you see photos of turkey breasts. Colour very similar to yours.

I have a ham and a turkey crown/breast and i don't know which is which, can anyone help?

Maybe turkey in coke tastes amazing? 🤷‍♀️😂

purplecorkheart · 25/12/2019 07:28

Mesh is turkey and string is ham by the look of the meat structure.

Missanneshirley · 25/12/2019 07:29

You are all wonderful. I'm going to open them up a bit more this morning to let them get to room temp, will take another couple of pics! Been dreaming of meat all night !

When you get the plastic off, it should be clearer.

Turkey crown has skin like a chicken but coarser- dimply, but without rind. The skin shifts around as you move/press it.
Ham/gammon has thick skin like rind- it's hard to cut through it, ne3ds a super sharp knife to score it.

VivaLeBeaver · 25/12/2019 07:39

I’m more excited about this thread than I am about Xmas presents! 😁

Missanneshirley · 25/12/2019 07:40
