It's Christmas Eve!! (I'm possibly as excited as dd2 Xmas Grin I love Christmas)

We're both up, dd2 is dressed, and I'm off to get dd1 up & get myself dressed in a minute so we can have a walk to the market for sprouts.

When we get in, they have my gifts to wrap (they're very pleased with themselves; I'm slightly worried but sure what they've picked will be lovely). I'll prep tomorrow's dinner with a Wine then my friend is calling with tomorrow's dessert that she's made for us.

What about all of you? Are you all sorted for tomorrow? Or has anyone yet to brave the supermarket/wrapping?

A houseful so a day of cooking, making tea, washing up and general labour ... every Christmas I say never again! Might bake a chocolate log later and have a three course meal to prepare for this evening. Oh and need to be a chauffeur for extra stress, yesterday I could have jumped in my car and driven away (dd has asd and my ex is useless)

Finfintytint · 24/12/2019 07:59

I was going to have a quiet Christmas on my own as DH is working away for the next week but my sister has invited me to Christmas lunch tomorrow so I’ll be preparing a trifle for everyone today.
Will walk the dog and watch some crappy tv with a glass or three of wine.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/12/2019 08:00

A walk.
Out for breakfast.
Trip to local shop because dc have decided they need one more present for do and that he'll be heartbroken if he doesn't get it (a pork pie!!!).
Doing some baking this afternoon and watching Gremlins.
Walk to carol concert.
Buffet tea
Then the kids (adult) will probably insist on watching Home Alone.

Waiting for my tea whilst husband runs the dog.

Up and dial in to work to check all is well and anything that needs sorting is sorted. Then tell people to finish at lunchtime.
Enlist some help from children to work through jobs.
Need to get someone to pop to M&S for Cherries in kirsch.
Make some mini bread rolls for Boxing Day.
Make a pavlova for tonight.
A bit of wrapping.
Put extenders on table and lay up for tonight’s supper.
Put gammons on to simmer for a few hours.
Most people arriving this afternoon.

Then, later this pm, we’ll go to the crib service and have people back for supper then to the Square for final Carol about 9:00pm Stockings out. Drinks and chat to midnight when the baby is put in the manger. Bed.

Bluesheep8 · 24/12/2019 08:02

Cooking turkey crown which we'll have cold tomorrow evening when we get home from visiting. Got to get 1 last minute tiny pressie for DP and do last bit of wrapping. Tidy up then out for a walk. Maybe via the pub

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/12/2019 08:02

All very chilled. Don't do anything stressy like cooking huge, complicated meals etc.

dementedma · 24/12/2019 08:02

The joys of having grown up dcs means I have a lazy day with nothing much to do other than a run to the recycling. Might make some soup. Might go for a swim. Kids will be round tonight for drinks.

Soosiesoo · 24/12/2019 08:02

All shopping and wrapping done! So a day of baking gingerbread and mince pies (DDs request) and Keeping on top of housework.

Will head out later for a bike ride to burn off some excited energy from the DDs and will come home for a party food tea and wine for me! WineWink

It's only the 4 of us this year so fairly relaxed. We did the Christmas visit to my family last weekend and we have the IL's over Boxing Day. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are just for us Smile

SeaViewBliss · 24/12/2019 08:05

I’m off to the Cinema this morning to watch the Muppets!!!!!

Back home I will be prepping some food and doing a bit of cooking. We’re having a big buffet lunch tomorrow.

I’ve got all of my wrapping to do which sounds bd but there isn’t much. Also need to chivvy DS (14) to get his room tidied. Oh how I wish I could still use Santa as a bribe!

Once that’s all done I’ll be cracking open the gin and when DH and DD get home from work we will have our annual Christmas Eve MacDonalds and playing some board games!!

Happy Christmas 🎄

EsmeeMerlin · 24/12/2019 08:05

Dh is at work all day so just me and our two boys. My mum is popping over in the afternoon, and we will go to the church’s Christmas carol service. I have to do some housework this morning while the boys watch the grinch but I had a rough night last night when ds2 (nearly 2) fell down some stairs. He is absolutely fine but it really upset me. Anyway it has meant I feel tired and my ibs is flaring up.

usernamepp · 24/12/2019 08:06

Working until 12 then home to do the pre Christmas a house clean. Wrapping all done so I can sit down tonight and just enjoy a bit of Christmas Eve TV

adaline · 24/12/2019 08:07

Walking the dog.
Wrapping presents and writing cards.
Watching cheesy Christmas films.
Eating my body weight in Quality Street!

Goldensunnydays81 · 24/12/2019 08:07

Have got make some mince pies and my sausagemeat for tomorrow, then a walk with some friends with a stop in the pub. My mums house this afternoon with my brothers and then home to chill in my pjs.

adaline · 24/12/2019 08:07

Meant to add this is my first Christmas off in about eight years so I'm very excited!

FuckyNel · 24/12/2019 08:08

Working ☹️

MotherHeggy · 24/12/2019 08:10

Off to work even though the boss gave me the day off,we've got a sing a long going on,so that will be fun,all the staff are going. Then we'll help close down so she can get off quicker.

Then home, tea(whatever is in the freezer) and chill out for the evening.

Nottobesoldseparately · 24/12/2019 08:11

I'm going to work. They will buy us breakfast.
Usually finish at lunchtime.
After that will walk the dog to the pub. Have a few drinks, then leave before the masses descend.
I've then got all the veg to prep for lunch at my mum's tmrw and a cheesecake to make.
Suppose I should deliver some presents too 🎁

CoffeeAndCarbs · 24/12/2019 08:11

I'm getting my hair done at 9.30am then I have to go to M&S to get DH a black shirt as sadly we have a family funeral today. Tonight we will be making desserts to take round to my parents tomorrow and packing our bags as we are off to visit family further afield on boxing day.

Poppet1710 · 24/12/2019 08:12

Finish wrapping presents and organise things to take over to my mums for tomorrow. Try to finish baby blanket I’m knitting for DS (2months old) but probably won’t finish in time. It was meant to be for his birth but he arrived early so didn’t get a chance to finish it the. It sat neglected until a week ago.
Crib service with sister, step mum, DH and my DS.
Christmas Eve drinks afterwards with them all plus dad who will be home from work.
Then home in time for baby’s bath and evening routine so not to disrupt him too much as we are still trying to establish a routine very much led by him.
Then movie and dinner with DH before bed reasonably early as night feeds to do.

FrangipaniBlue · 24/12/2019 08:14

Well I thought I was dead organised and in for a relaxing day...... turns out I was wrong and I've a few last minute errands to run

It's going to be a nightmare isn't it?

Cordial11 · 24/12/2019 08:15

GrannyBags · 24/12/2019 08:16

Working till 12. The to church hall to set up for lunch tomorrow. Then church for crib service (500 people!) then home for tea and getting DC to have a sleep for a couple of hours. Then to Midnight Mass. Christmas Day is a whirl of services, lunch for 75 and family tea (presents). Boxing Day is the vicar’s one day off so they are coming to us for the day - that’s more like our family Christmas.

MrsJonesAndMe · 24/12/2019 08:19

Some normal stuff e.g. washing machine and dishwasher on.

Going for a walk so everyone can get a bit of fresh air, baking cookies for Father Christmas and probably quite a bit of telly this PM (all got colds)

Will prep the vegetables together too.

Have a great day all!

moolady1977 · 24/12/2019 08:20

I'm off to work very soon then when my dp finishes work he will pick me up back here for santa run number 1 then pick up the dsd off to maccies for tea before santa run number 2 and a quick visit to the parents also have to ring the parents make sure they don't need anything picking up from m&s next door to where I work nothing too stressful though so I'm pretty happy

Sipperskipper · 24/12/2019 08:22

Online shop coming soon, but strawberries are missing (key trifle ingredient!) so will send DH out to get some.
Prepping trifle, gammon and veg for tomorrow (hosting 9 of us).
Will take DD (2.5) to the park whilst DH does some veg peeling.
Set up the dining table (currently in the shed!) ready for tomorrow.
Play with some Lego with DD & DH, watch something Christmassy.

When DD goes to bed, we will get her presents ready for the morning, then get an Indian and watch blackadders Christmas carol.
