It's Christmas Eve!! (I'm possibly as excited as dd2 Xmas Grin I love Christmas)

We're both up, dd2 is dressed, and I'm off to get dd1 up & get myself dressed in a minute so we can have a walk to the market for sprouts.

When we get in, they have my gifts to wrap (they're very pleased with themselves; I'm slightly worried but sure what they've picked will be lovely). I'll prep tomorrow's dinner with a Wine then my friend is calling with tomorrow's dessert that she's made for us.

What about all of you? Are you all sorted for tomorrow? Or has anyone yet to brave the supermarket/wrapping?

Working until 6pm and two and a half hours schlepping home (bah humbug), then sticking the red cabbage in the slow cooker and peeling a mountain of veg for Christmas day Crown Smile.

Todaythiscouldbe · 24/12/2019 08:22

I took hubby to work 15 miles away at 6am as there's no public transport today. Then popped to Tesco, now home with a cuppa and a mince pie catching up on Gordon, Gino and Fred from last night.
Off to pick up hubby later then we are going to a Christingle service with DS. Quite a chilled Xmas Eve by my standards.

Ratbagcatbag · 24/12/2019 08:23

Off to soft play with a family member to let the kids run off some steam whilst we have a quick catch up and coffee.
Back for a light lunch.
Tidy up
Play games with DD this afternoon
Stick her in the bath whilst I try and shove presents around the house so she doesn't see anything.
Watch an Xmas film together. Put her to bed.
Prep the veg so I don't have to do it tomorrow.
Do the Santa thing.
Also go to bed early, maybe after a nice raspberry cocktail.

Not too stressy today to be fair.

General tidying at home this morning then will pick DH up from work at 12. He will watch a Christmas film with our 1 year old this afternoon so I can bake a quiche & saus rolls for tomorrow, then tonight we will be popping to my parents as my mum has made DS a Christmas Eve box 🙂

Mumshappy · 24/12/2019 08:26

Waiting for dds to get up so we can open xmas eve boxes. Packing to go to my parents this afternoon. Church at 5.30pm. A meal with my parents tonight.

Straightintoit · 24/12/2019 08:27

Having minor rage that my partner is having a self allotted lie in and I am on the sofa watching toy story 3 again. I want to go for a long walk, nobody else does. Buy some new kitchen scales. Make part of tomorrow’s pudding.

CrowleysBentley · 24/12/2019 08:28

I got up really early and did the food shop at about 6. I will be picking up M&S order at 9, then I'm going back to bed for a couple of hours because I have only had about 4 hours of sleep. After lunch I will do the food prep for tomorrow. DD is working until late and will eat at work (pub restaurant, really busy, she will be shattered when she gets in), so just me and DS for dinner tonight and I'm doing steak so nice and easy. Plan is to watch some of Watchmen series with DS on NowTV, and wait for DD to get home to do Christmas eve gifts and some snacks if she's hungry.

RoonyTunes · 24/12/2019 08:29

Evening here (Aus). DH and I went to Pilates then we followed tradition and had a pub lunch at our favourite beer garden with DS2 and DD followed by a trip to the best gelato shop ever. We would usually be moaning about the lack of sunshine but like everyone else here we are praying for rain so the firefighters (including DS1) get to spend Christmas with their families rather than fighting the bushfires. I never mind a rainy Christmas Day tbh, cooking a traditional roast on a scorching hot day is never fun. Everything is wrapped and under the tree, stockings are filled, time to watch The Grinch 😊

sandybanana · 24/12/2019 08:30

Prepping veg
Cleaning the house
Wrapping presents
Walk along the canal next to our house
Popping to supermarket to get one last bottle of wine 🍷

MrsMozartMkII · 24/12/2019 08:32

Check the horses, having gone via the country store for new electric fence handles so I can make a new gateway, and roll a new hay bale in. Walk the dogs. Wrap the last of DH's presents. Watch a film and do buggerall whilst tucked up on a sofa under a heated blanket and surrounded by snoozing dogs. Bliss.

troppibambini · 24/12/2019 08:33

Everything is done. I did all the cleaning yesterday, everything is wrapped and food shop is done.
This morning I've just got a few bits to iron and it put some food in bowls for a party we are having this afternoon.
I have a massage booked at 12.

Chickenwing · 24/12/2019 08:37

Working until 1pm then driving to my parents. Xmas film, chinese takeaway and a baileys Smile

Ohffs66 · 24/12/2019 08:37

Making the fillings for tomorrow's filo parcels and the gravy, and a smoked trout pate for tonight's dinner. Dressing the table. Putting the presents under the tree. Walk the dog if the rain ever stops (she's currently very snug on the sofa and couldn't care less if she gets a walk or not!). General last minute tidy up then when everything is done loll about on the sofa watching films.

Nononononono33 · 24/12/2019 08:37

I do love Christmas Eve! DH is working from home this morning, I am going to the local cemetery to put some flowers on my grandparents’ grave. I may well brave Tesco for a couple of last minute bits (my strategy is to park well away from the car park and walk to the shop). I also need to wrap a few final presents which I will probably do watching a Christmas film. DH will sort the ham, once he’s finished work, and I’m going to make cheesy bread and some pigs in blankets for our Christmas Eve buffet. Salad, cheese etc is already done. We’ll wander to our village pub for a drink later on, then back home for buffet and A Christmassy (Father) Ted which is now a Christmas Eve must-watch. All our family visiting etc is tomorrow and Boxing Day, so I do like a quiet day at home today. Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas Eve!

minesagin37 · 24/12/2019 08:39

Getting up slowly. Cup of tea. Walk dog. DH going with girls to visit his mum. Pick up sushi from Waitrose - Xmas eve trad. Prep some bits and pieces. Dinner tonight and film with girls (14)(20).

gemdrop84 · 24/12/2019 08:40

We've got the last few chores to do: sweep and mop floors downstairs, wash our bedding and dh has the dogs to brush. Then it's time to crack open the Bailey's Xmas Smile
Cooking christmas brownies with the dc. Just chilling out til lunch then it's the christmas eve buffet!
Church at dinner time followed by a drink at our local then home for Tiger that Came to Tea.
Me and dh will be getting tipsy tonight whilst wrapping dcs presents, we normally exchange a present at midnight then off to bed. I am full of cold and feeling tired already so I'll see if I can get a crafty nap in somewhere Grin

lilgreen · 24/12/2019 08:42

Dog walk
Take DD to work
Make bread sauce
Make cranberry sauce
Peel and prepare veg
Set Christmas table
Relax Wine

Uninvited01 · 24/12/2019 08:42

Making some biscotti with bf.
DS (15) is spending the day and tomorrow with his dad which means I am a bit Sad so I’ll do my best to keep busy and make the day as nice for myself as possible. I quite fancy a gym workout/swim but my gym is on the same complex as a big supermarket and I don’t fancy getting on the car park Shock

lilgreen · 24/12/2019 08:43

Oooh and watching It’s a Wonderful Life tonight with or without DDs 19 & 15.

Sleepysquirrelin · 24/12/2019 08:44

Leisurely breakfast. Tea (milk for the DC) and toast watching paw patrol while I mnet.
All get ready and a quick tidy round, washing on, beds made, hoover etc

Chill out with jigsaws, books and games this afternoon.

Festive playdate and drinks at friends house, early evening.
Home- all the Christmas Eve stuff- new PJs, mince pie out for santa etc. Bed for the dc
Nibbly dinner- soup, baked camembert, pate on toast, olives, final tidy and early bed and reading for me. Maybe after a relaxing bath with cup of tea.

lilgreen · 24/12/2019 08:44

Futureplanning · 24/12/2019 08:45

The Christingle service this afternoon.
Take away for tea.
Then I need to go to my parents to collect all the presents which I've hidden there.
Back to watch a family film.
Ds in bed then Father Christmas can do his bit!

BaggaChips · 24/12/2019 08:45

I love Xmas Eve, possibly more than Xmas day itself!

Having a chilled out morning then walking down to the theatre to see a matinee performance, then to church to see the nativity, lights and trees and light a candle, then restaurant for early dinner and walk home- baths, stockings up, Xmas stories and bed!

lilgreen · 24/12/2019 08:46

Parsnip soup to make too with crusty bread for a light supper . Happy Christmas!
