Best of MN Classics

I was looking for an old thread & thought I might find it in classics. I didn't find it, but probably more to do with the fact that I kept (re)reading old threads.

Found this one & cannot stop laughing - My DH says he wants to take me up the Oxo tower for Valentine's Day... www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/703760-My-DH-says-he-wants-to-take-me-up-the

What's your fave thread in classics?

PS: the thread I was trying to find was the one about the person living in next door's attic & coming into their house for a shit while they were out. Still not found it.

Pom bear anyone? Bear

Elderly Korean lady?

DramaAlpaca · 21/12/2019 01:41

I think it's called 'He's eaten a fat ball!' OP's DH found a fat ball (wild bird food) in the fridge & ate it, but was confused because it tasted funny. When told what it was he said he thought it was an artisan scotch egg. So, so funny.

Sorry, haven't a clue about yours.

puds11 · 21/12/2019 01:42

Cutted up pear obvs!

puds11 · 21/12/2019 01:42

I remember the attic one. Very odd.

JudgeRindersMinder · 21/12/2019 01:43

Mexican house thief!

managedmis · 21/12/2019 01:45

One of my faves was fashion disasters - not sure if it's actually in classics though

managedmis · 21/12/2019 01:46

Just in case

VanyaHargreeves · 21/12/2019 01:46

Oh God I remember the shitter in the ceiling one but can't remember the actual name

Mexican House Thief is oddly always misremembered as it's own thread but was a one off post on a wider cheeky fuckery thread that has gone down in legend

VanyaHargreeves · 21/12/2019 01:49

Is fashion disasters the expectation versus reality one?

I was thinking recently about the woman who ended up ruining her brothers surprise engagement announcement by taking the lack of invite to a recent boyfriend EXTREMELY personally and being massively pigheaded about it

MelAndShoe · 21/12/2019 01:50

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/374360-dh-s-obsession-or-whatever-it-s-not-normal-is this is my fave I remember it unfolding

GrimDamnFanjo · 21/12/2019 01:53

Mexican house thief! Jaw dropping!

RainingFrogsAndHats · 21/12/2019 01:56

Penis beaker, pom beats and elderly Korean lady

RainingFrogsAndHats · 21/12/2019 01:57

BUT its recent, but I did love the couple having sex in the hedge threaf

QueenOfOversharing · 21/12/2019 02:46

I don't recall Pom Bear, and Korean old lady is vague... I'm off to refresh my memory.

OMG the man wanking with the knife sharpener is a new must read!!!

The CF one which featured Mexican house thief was epic! I'll be re-reading that too.

If anyone finds attic-dwelling phantom shitter, do let me know!

My insomnia now has a purpose! Yay. Hmm

This one is amusing if you need a laugh, or just to feel better about yourself... What stupid things have you believed/said/assumed before finding out to your embarrassment you were wrong? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/1288326-What-stupid-things-have-you-believed-said-assumed-before-finding-out-to-your-embarrassment-you-were-wrong

The one where the husband was caught in hedgehog cam wanking with sandpaper. Pretty sure it was a troll but was funny!

Shortbreadbaby · 21/12/2019 06:48

Some of the spooky ones are good reads.

My favourite one ever is the one about strange things you did as a kid.

ScribblyGum · 21/12/2019 06:54

Hair bobble plate.

AuntieStella · 21/12/2019 07:26

If you want laugh a minute, ignore this post.

If you want the very, very best of MN

TheCanterburyWhales · 21/12/2019 07:34

Agree with AuntieStella.
Most of the threads mentioned above were made up bollocks. Elderly Korean Lady was borderline racist. Fat Ball was about as believable as thinking the new govt is going to be nice.
For real classics (funny) you need to go back before PB (and then some) for it was PB that didn't just lower the bar, it took it down to the level of a Channel 5 reality show.
I can also recommend the one about death. HCPs who told MN how they care for the deceased.
You won't be spitting out your coffee, wetting your pants or begging the wannabe self publisher for updates. But you'll be able to see how good MN can be once you've got through the dross.

cptartapp · 21/12/2019 08:05

The Sistine Chapel screamer. Kept thinking about that thread when I visited there this summer.

Knickersinonehand · 21/12/2019 08:10

Ballonz for a baby name?

DamonOwlBarn · 21/12/2019 08:17

Seconding Balonz.
Also a personal incomprehensible favourite www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/1212449-dh-threw-wine-at-the-wall
