Just to add to my list above..

People who see sex whenever they see a human body in a leotard have more problems than this movie Confused

Mrsjayy · 20/12/2019 20:26

Oh god people walking out on mass Shock was it that shite ?

BrusselPout · 20/12/2019 20:29

@FruitcakeOfHate I LOVE Grease 2, it's so cheesy but I love Cool Rider, although was a bit embarrassed when my phone put it in shuffle when I was with slightly (ahem) more discerning music lovers 🤣

blueshoes · 20/12/2019 20:51

I like bendy dancing. Cats (the real life ones) move in a fluid and sensual way so I am not surprised the actor/actresses would in the movie.

The plot is as the plot goes - it is a series of poems from the Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. I liked the Andrew Lloyd Webber stage show, so no reason not to like the movie.

I think I would go and watch it.

mummyrocks1 · 20/12/2019 21:19

It was in the daily mail! Disclaimer- I don't buy it but read it whilst waiting for my children's swimming lessons to finish as it was left by someone else.

Rosie2000 · 20/12/2019 21:25

Just back- one dd loved it, the other thought it was okay. I loved it purely for the amazing singing, dancing and the sets. The CGI didn’t bother me but I can imagine if you haven’t seen the stage show you might be a bit bemused. Jennifer Hudson is amazing, as are actors playing Victoria and Munkustrap. Overall a lovely 2 hours of escapism but I’m a huge fan of musicals.

MistletoeSteveMcDonald · 20/12/2019 21:30

Not interested in seeing Cats but Grease 2 is way superior to Grease and is one of my favourite films. Louis was my favourite closely followed by Michael and Davey.

Wilmalovescake · 20/12/2019 21:46

I’m really looking forward to it! But then I loved the stage show; saw it twice in the 80s/90s. Going tomorrow; I’ll report back.

You've just reminded me to download the Grease 2 album before my Prime membership runs out Grin

I always wondered why Sharon (Maureen Teefy) didn't become more successful, I thought she was a great actress in this and also in Fame

It’s got 2.8 on the IMDB! Not sure I’ve ever seen a film rated that low in there.

Grease 2 is amazing!

Mrsjayy · 20/12/2019 22:14

2.8 that is dire !

FruitcakeOfHate · 20/12/2019 22:17

Now I've been going round singing 'Reproduction!' and 'Cool Rider' and the entire soundtrack all evening. 'Where does the pollen go?'

jaggynettle · 20/12/2019 22:23

I seen it tonight and really enjoyed it. I've never seen the stage show so can't compare it with that.

Once you get over the CGI the ears and tails moving seems normal because y'know - they're meant to be cats. They move like cats and have cat like personalities.

The songs were good, the acting was good and the story was good. James Corden and Rebel Wilson were obviously there for the laughs - pretty good fun. Jennifer Hudson is amazing, the other main characters are great too.

All in all I reckon some reviewers need to get over themselves - it's a film about singing cats!

I only wished Idris Elba kept his coat on - he looks a bit scrawny without it!

And if you do go - wait until the end of the credits, it's worth it.

Mrsjayy · 20/12/2019 22:24

Grease 2 is quite niche isn't it do you think Michelle pfiffer (sp) puts it's it on her showreel 😀

I don't know why, but I thought this thread was about the Netflix 'Don't Fuck With Cats'......though this one actually sounds more horrific. Xmas Shock

lovemenorca · 21/12/2019 06:34

Telegraph gave it zero stars

I really want to watch this as I’m really interested in the investigative parts but I’m not sure I can even listen to those videos.

Alakazam8 · 21/12/2019 09:19

Saw it last night, loved it but I loved the musical on stage.
You can forget about the cgi after a few mins (suspension of disbelief), I loved Victoria’s (FH) dancing and was interesting to see how it translated to film and any changes they made.
Would recommend people give it a try- especially if you like musicals.
When the musical was first on stage it was absolutely panned by the critics too and would have closed (I think) but people were buying tickets in droves.

JigsawsAreInPieces · 21/12/2019 09:42

I saw it last night. It's good! Great choreography, music you know, and it's well, cats! Idris Elba in a leotard Xmas Wink ohh Happy Happy Christmas, Jigsaws! Halo

Dowser · 21/12/2019 10:02

Ah jiggy...you’ve restored my faith in cats
Never seen the stage show and so wanted to
I thought the trailer was mesmerising
I thought the greatest showman was awful
I hated the stage show starlight express
I loved phantom and godspell London stage shows
I loved South Pacific at Aylesbury
Hated wicked..Milton Keynes
Hated blood brothers..Birmingham
Hated evita..not london
That’s about all I’ve seen
Fiddler on the roof with topol was fabulous l..forgot that one

I’ll either love it, or hate it or it’ll be ok. It’s a fiver..I’ll be fine

Dowser · 21/12/2019 10:05

Topol is still alive too..he’s about 85

ScreamingValalalalahLalalalah · 21/12/2019 10:08

Can anyone who's seen it tell me which version of Rum Tum Tugger's song is used?

Alakazam8 · 21/12/2019 10:26

It’s not the more recent version but not exactly like the original stage one if that’s any help!

ScreamingValalalalahLalalalah · 21/12/2019 10:31

Yes it is, thank you. I love the original Rum Tum Tugger song, so I'm glad it's closer to that than the reworked version.

ScrambledSmegs · 21/12/2019 15:41

I'm old enough to have seen it with the original cast and I loved it. It's the only musical, bar the Rocky Horror Show, that I've seen twice. Still love the songs. However I was 6 and probably a lot of it went way over my head.

Dd2 really wants to see it. She's 7. Is it going to be too weird for us?
