Anyone else uncomfortable about Eamonn Holmes with Ruth Langford?

Bunnylady53 · 18/12/2019 12:26

To begin with I thought it was just banter but the more I watch them on This Morning, the more I want to shout at Ruth to tell him where to go! The other day he got something wrong whilst interviewing & Ruth pointed it out ( kindly). He came back with “ Showing me up in front of a stranger”. Just no need for it.

OP posts:

I went right off Eamon after the Manchester bombing - he criticised police on twitter while they were still trying to keep people alive because they hadn't provided a "narrative".

Binglebong · 19/12/2019 14:28

Just looked it up - his tweet was less than 5 hours after the bombing.

I think banter results in a smile. When Ruth is on the receiving end of his banter, she looks uncomfortable and while her mouth goes through the motion of smiling, her eyes don't.

MalarkeyMouse · 19/12/2019 14:32

Do you think the OP is Pip trying to deflect the gossip away from himself

This is exactly what I assumed but didn't post earlier.

DioneTheDiabolist · 19/12/2019 14:36

I love them. So much better and more natural than Holly and Pip. I agree with a PP that some people prefer acting.

SebandAlice · 19/12/2019 14:42

@BradTomby

Maybe not Pip but a member of his publicist or management team. Trust me it happens.

GabsAlot · 19/12/2019 15:03

Not involving ruth but my favourite line from eammon a few years ago was to a rape victim who owed a loan shark money

they caught him and put him away-eamons reposnse well at least you dont have to pay him back!

I was mortified

WeeBitSleepy · 19/12/2019 15:07

What a ridiculous thread- if you don’t know either of them personally, nor write the scripts for their on-screen banter, why do we have any right to judge...it must be so grim having your life and marriage discussed like this.

femidom12 · 19/12/2019 15:11

Eamonn is marmite so it seems!

Mrsmadevans · 19/12/2019 15:16

Love them both , hate Pipsqueak & Silly Holly.

Justmuddlingalong · 19/12/2019 15:23

Oooh. That's us told. 🤪

Dongdingdong · 19/12/2019 15:27

A lot of people don't get N Irish banter, do they

A lot of people on MN don't get any banter

TheFairyCaravan · 19/12/2019 15:32

Eamonn Holmes is an absolute cunt. He went to the papers whinging that the tax man was coming after him for £2m because the "country is broke". He'd claimed he was freelance despite working for Sky and Itv in the same jobs for decades apparently and the Inland Revenue were looking at clamping down on this. The line of the article was all "woe is me. Poor, poor me."

Ruth is as bad. She's on Loose Women regularly complaining about how her father's care had to be paid for after she's worked hard and paid her taxes yet people who haven't get it for free. The hypocrisy of them both is shocking.

Loveislandaddict · 19/12/2019 15:33

Does anyone else think threads like this are in bad taste.

If a mumsnet term posted about a their dc being criticised on social media, everyone would horrified that the dc was being bullied, and there would be cries of blocking the perpetrator, informing the school, and even calling 101.

However, it seems okay to criticise (bully?) a public figure.

So I don’t feel uncomfortable about Eamonn Holmes, but I do feel uncomfortable with slagging-off posts like this.

Sander60 · 19/12/2019 16:08

I love this morning but find eamon Holmes ignorant the way he interrupt everyone I turn it off as soon as he comes on or I end up shouting at the television.

zonkin · 19/12/2019 16:19

@TheFairyCaravan To be fair, HMRC also went after Lorraine Kelly for the same reason. It went to court and she won.

Bluerussian · 19/12/2019 16:19

I don't watch breakfast TV but on the odd occasion when I have seen them, they seem fine to me.

Poppet1974 · 19/12/2019 16:21

Love Eamon and Ruth, they have a good vibe together and it comes across as very natural...... whereas Phillip and Holly are saccharin sweet and so so disingenuous.... cannot bear then (more Phillip than Holly to be fair)

VenusTiger · 19/12/2019 16:27

He is very sarcastic, I get him, others don’t.

Elbeagle · 19/12/2019 16:45

Oh I ‘get’ him, I just don’t like him. His sarcasm isn’t an issue, it’s the babyish strops he throws when any ‘banter’ is aimed in his direction.

TheFairyCaravan · 19/12/2019 16:48

@zonkin I can't stand her either.

It pisses me off when they all sit on the telly saying how much nurses, teachers, the NHS, police, armed forces etc all need extra money yet they know they're depriving the public purse.

zonkin · 19/12/2019 17:02

@TheFairyCaravan I agree that they are hypocrites. However, tax avoidance is not illegal. Tax evasion is.

Morally they are wrong. Legally they are correct. That's why HMRC lost the case. They continuously try to say that avoidance and evasion are the same thing. They aren't. They need to tighten up the tax rules rather than wasting taxpayers money on cases that will lose. A tax tribunal is not cheap.

I don't like HMRC, Lorraine Kelly, Eamon Holmes, Philip Schofield, etc.

Yetanotherwinter · 19/12/2019 17:21

He’s getting more plastic looking every time I see him. He’s vile.

Spotty528 · 19/12/2019 17:28

A friend of mine went on this morning a few years back, she said Eamon was lovely and Ruth was lovely on screen but as soon as the cameras stopped rolling she starting dropping the f-bomb and didn’t talk to them. Obviously could have been a bad day and she’s lovely the rest of the time.
