Anyone else uncomfortable about Eamonn Holmes with Ruth Langford?

To begin with I thought it was just banter but the more I watch them on This Morning, the more I want to shout at Ruth to tell him where to go! The other day he got something wrong whilst interviewing & Ruth pointed it out ( kindly). He came back with “ Showing me up in front of a stranger”. Just no need for it.

To be honest ive always felt that, always liked her,him not so much, and always thought Ruth you could do better,But then i think that about some of my friends and partners. I just cant see what perfectly nice pleasant women can see in some men.And then i think ive always had very high standards so ive ended up on own,so perhaps its me thats wrong. I just cant stand how some men treat women and they let them, but perhaps thats normal, maybe Ruth and Eamon no different to others.I often think womens sell by date looms and they just go for what they can get.We who dont end up alone.Simple really.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=CHitRcyiij8 Oh yes, never saw that before.

Caramel78 · 19/12/2019 09:28

Ruth seems lovely but Eamonn always takes his “banter” a bit too far and seems to always be either telling her off, disagreeing with her, humiliating her or rolling his eyes at her. I don’t think he has much presence either as he always looks bored.

I don't watch them but when I've seen clips of Eamonn he seems like an overbearing bully. Still, she chose him.

GoodBoyPeachGoodBoy · 19/12/2019 09:37

Eamonn Holmes makes me feel really Oooogie. I can't even look at him. He looks to me like he is hiding a really shifty real personality.

Mamakate75 · 19/12/2019 09:39

Exactly!!

FriedEggs1 · 19/12/2019 09:40

I've always noticed that he was a big, slimey, fucking creepball

Mamakate75 · 19/12/2019 09:42

Lighten up people. You obviously don't get N Irish people. He is clearly smitten with Ruth and he, her. He is a lovely man. Does a lot for charity- and genuinely so. We love our Eamonn.

thepeopleversuswork · 19/12/2019 09:44

I can't stand them. He comes across as a nasty piece of work who IMHO is borderline abusive to her and she seems to have been more or less designed from the ground up to appeal to the archtypal Daily Mail reader.

They may be nice in real life but they are naff as fuck and I've never understood the obsession with their marriage.

Sundancer77 · 19/12/2019 09:45

Love them!

Lunde · 19/12/2019 09:52

I have watched this programme once in the last 10 years - about 3 ish weeks ago - because there was to be a segment about cooking ahead and freezing stuff for Christmas that I really wanted to watch.

Eamonn totally ruined it. He seemed drunk (or just overbearing). He butted in, talked off-topic over the cook who was doing the presentation, made it clear Christmas cooking was "women's work" ... then he grabbed the display plate and sat down and started eating it making loud chewing noises and talking with mouth full (although Ruth seemed relieved that he was out of the way eating). In the end they didn't get through the whole segment and had to go to adverts - waste of time.

thepeopleversuswork · 19/12/2019 09:54

And really these people saying "you don't understand N Irish people" can get to fuck. Since when has being from Northern Ireland been an excuse for being an arse? Please...

Tinaarena · 19/12/2019 10:07

I used to loathe the man, couldnt stand him on team or whatever it was he was on. then I hit maternity leave and suddenly found myself smiling and agreeing with him on many subjects.

Ive worked with them on many occasions and they come across as a genuine nice normal couple who yes they joke around and enjoy a bit of banter but they do adore each other. Everyone has bad days and if you met him on one of those then yes you'd leave with the impression that he was obnoxious but given id see him for a few days at a time this could be put down to a bad mood.

Juliette20 · 19/12/2019 10:28

I can't watch them - he seems a nasty piece of work and she seems a bit dense and fawns over people.

SleepyReindeer · 19/12/2019 10:34

I like their dynamic. Richard and Judy were similar - it's a married couples thing probably and also they probably play up to it a little or make deadpan jokes that written down would look a bit mean, but they both know it's a joke and it works in context. I think probably viewers like to see a bit of realism instead of shiny glossy false niceties all the time. I think they complement each other really well.

Ace2015 · 19/12/2019 10:35

Only watch the program when Eamonn and Ruth are on. Can't stand the sight of Holly and Phil.

purpleme12 · 19/12/2019 10:48

I used to think this too. Used to not like him.

Now I've come round to the idea that he's not as bad as that. Not sure I'd go so far as to say I like him 😆 but he's alright
And perhaps they've just got a different dynamic. (Although it wouldn't be for me,!)

Deadjinglebellringer · 19/12/2019 10:49

I always get the idea that she is very much in charge in the relationship, and is much smarter than him, so he gets his little digs in as a sort of mutiny. Could be way off though and they seem happy enough together.

dottiedodah · 19/12/2019 10:55

I like them both and feel he is genuinely fond of her TBH! He seems to me to be a quite down to earth sort and what you see is what you get .For me there is no one like Richard and Judy though .Such great chemistry, and she would tell him off jokingly but they would laugh about it together ,really genuine couple .

FAQs

Thank you for that video link - DH and I have had a good laugh at the cowardly arsehole - not only that he hid behind a woman who is about a third of his height and a tenth of his enormous girth Xmas Grin, but also that she put her arm around his shoulders to comfort him (the great, soft nowt!) (And did she tell him to "get off" at the end - or was that someone speaking to the would-be assassin? Xmas Grin).

I I knew him personally, I would never let him live that down.

Daffodil55 · 19/12/2019 11:43

Eamon has always irritated me with the way he interupts and talks over Ruth all the time. Behind the scenes I imagine if she hated it that much she would do something about it.

I prefer them to sickly sweet Holly and smug Schofield though.

thenightsky · 19/12/2019 12:13

I went off him when I saw him ridiculing Ruth for her lack of formal qualifications. He kept on about her being thick Sad She looked crushed.

SebandAlice · 19/12/2019 12:18

I like him. He was visibly devastated for her when she lost her sister. I can’t help thinking this thread is in response to the criticism that Schofield has got.

Mummylin · 19/12/2019 13:38

I like Eamon and Ruth. I think they just bicker the same as everyone else.

BradTomby · 19/12/2019 13:43

Do you think the OP is Pip trying to deflect the gossip away from himself Grin
