I still miss Woolies. I bloody loved that shop.

And I miss our local post office as you could buy all sorts of nonsense and have a chat at the same time.

Awh Woolworths was amazing! I don’t know how big it was but I miss internationalé

thenightsky · 17/12/2019 23:28

Boyes always reminds me of Woolies.

Craftycorvid · 17/12/2019 23:31

I miss the old ‘Chelsea Girl’ (flippin’ ‘River Island’ just not the same) but I think that’s just nostalgia! Spent a lot of my teens perusing Miners make-up in Woolworths Grin

monkeytennis97 · 17/12/2019 23:33

The old Mark One from the early 90s

Nicknacky · 17/12/2019 23:38

Chelsea Girl was one of the best shops ever. As was Tammy Girl.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 17/12/2019 23:41

Bay trading company was very good.

AlaskaElfForGin · 17/12/2019 23:42

Oh god I LOVED Chelsea Girl!

In the 80s in Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow Chelsea Girl and Virgo were almost next door to each other and Miss Selfridge was across the road. I remember with fondness buying the most amazing pair of lilac jeans in Virgo when I was about 14 and oh my god I looked immense!! 😂

TJ Hughes

thenightsky · 17/12/2019 23:43

oh yes monkey, Mark One was excellent for cheap cotton summer dresses! Most I ever paid was £12.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 17/12/2019 23:45

Etam and Bay Trading

Also miss specialists shops that only really exist on the internet now. There were two fantastic bead shops in Covent Garden and Carnaby Street that I used to loose huge chunks of my afternoons and money in until they closed last year. Shopping online is so bloody dull.Xmas Sad

SkiingIsHeaven · 17/12/2019 23:47

C&A

anxioussue · 18/12/2019 00:03

itsnotraworcold · 18/12/2019 00:04

TJ Hughes is still around, isn’t it?

Scarscar · 18/12/2019 00:11

Woolies massively, I even dream about it.
C&A just for nostalgia.
We also had a big proper Coop Store with everything in it.
Kwiksave.
Chelsea Girl because it was the big girl fashion shop and by the time I was old enough to shop there it had gone.
Funnily don't miss BHS.

I hope we never lose Boots.

alltoomuchrightnow · 18/12/2019 00:12

Culpeppers and Past Times were great for this time of the year. Culpeppers marzipan pink pigs!
And Neal Street East... I used to buy all my stocking fillers from there

anxioussue · 18/12/2019 00:13

I loved those pink pigs

salsmum · 18/12/2019 00:13

I miss cuffs and c&a

alltoomuchrightnow · 18/12/2019 00:14

On the subject of Neal St East.... Covent Garden was always my favourite shopping area, especially as a student. So I really miss Flip and American Classics too. In more recent times... Pout.

SnorkMaiden81 · 18/12/2019 00:16

Pier!

BerwickLad · 18/12/2019 00:16

I miss bhs for homeware type things which is imo what they should have concentrated on. But did they listen to me? Tsk.

Woolworths was great. Our town got a ‘Big W’ as well which was basically a Woolworths superstore, we used to love it.

I also loved Tammy girl.

PumpkinP · 18/12/2019 01:20

I don’t miss it but was thinking about comet the other day. Didn’t even realise they had gone until it popped into my head

MadisonAvenue · 18/12/2019 01:22
