I still miss Woolies. I bloody loved that shop.

And I miss our local post office as you could buy all sorts of nonsense and have a chat at the same time.

Definitely as said Etam, my entire wardrobe was Etam when a student

I still have some lovely things from The Pier

Is Whittards gone? I havent seen one in years and still have a full dining set from there that I got 13 years ago for my first house

VanyaHargreeves · 18/12/2019 01:59

There was an indie type shop I liked called Pulp. I think thats gone.

MoreRainbowsPlease · 18/12/2019 02:03

I'm another one who misses the Pier. Our town also had a half price jewellers which was great for earrings. When it closed DP stopped buying me jewellery!

C&A and Woolworths

I write to a person in Melbourne Australia, and I think he said that they have a Woolworths there.

AuntyElle · 18/12/2019 02:31

Woolies in Aus isn’t the same thing at all, 1forAll74. Just a bog-standard supermarket. I’m not sure what the link is.

Although the NHS will probably be soon

Snowmonster · 18/12/2019 02:54

Definitely Woolworths - I had my first Saturday job there at 15 and it was a blast. Loved every minute of it, I worked on the pick n mix section and the tills.

TheHuntingOfTheSarky · 18/12/2019 03:15

Whittards is still around, there's one in the Bentall Centre in Kingston.

At one time in the 80s Bath and Body Works opened some branches here but they eventually closed the UK side of the business. I wish they hadn't - their candles are fab. Ditto Sephora which had a branch at Bluewater years ago.

Graphista · 18/12/2019 03:26

another who misses Woolies, bhs, c&a, the old Mark one and new look when it was cheap - hell top shop when it was cheap!

As a Scot also razzle dazzle and what every woman wants are also fondly missed my dd would have LOVED them

xJodiex · 18/12/2019 03:28

Borders books Sad

HoldMyLobster · 18/12/2019 03:29

Ellathechristmasfairy · 18/12/2019 04:28

Kookai, it seemed slightly more upmarket than Bay etc so buying something from there felt like a real splurge.

anxioussue · 18/12/2019 04:37

Whittards still have stores
I miss bath and body works

hussandchips56 · 18/12/2019 05:54

I bought a reusable bag in C&A in Barcelona this year just because it had their logo on it 😁

Longdistance · 18/12/2019 06:06

I really miss Mark one. I had some lovely stuff from there that actually lasted. I had a floral maxi dress, fitted at the waste that I lived in in the summer, and I used to wear bodies that had the poppers between the legs, all fitted (in my younger slimmer days).
I loved Bay trading for formal stuff.

Btw, BigW is more like Wollies in Oz, the Woolworths is the supermarket part of the chain.
