I still miss Woolies. I bloody loved that shop.

And I miss our local post office as you could buy all sorts of nonsense and have a chat at the same time.

I didn’t know so many stores were missing
If they weren’t in our town... they were never here 😂
Didn’t know principles had gone
I think select will be next.. get a lot of my day dresses from there.. skater type... so pretty

You're right, Fedup...shops that sell ONLY jeans don't seem to exist any more. I remember one called Jean Junction.
I loved Wrygges too.
Stirling Cooper.

Woollies was the only place you could buy those boxes of milk chocolate miniatures (Don't think Cadbury's make them now).

We had one called Mad house!

I quite miss C and A as well.

And Athena-we used to spend our Saturday afternoons in there looking at posters and novelty lights! (Then we’d go to Body Shop and buy £3 worth of bath pearls and soap shaped like fruit!!)

Our seaside town has totally gone down the pan since Woolworths went, marks followed and mother care. It's so sad. My new years resolution is to shop in the high street rather than online, use to love a day out browsing.

I miss the alternative and indie type no chain stores that have had to close. I quite likes tj Hughes. I don't miss bhs, the clothing was really old fashioned.

RuffleCrow · 18/12/2019 16:01

Yep Woolies here too. Wilko is a crap imitation

C & A

Virgin megastore

Definitely C&A. I used to buy loads of stuff there for myself, OH and family. In particular, in those days, we were into skiing and fitted ourselves out with all the gear, ski-jackets, leggings, thermals etc. My OH was on the large side and C&A was the only place which sold suits, shirts, trousers, etc that actually fitted him properly so his entire work wardrobe was C&A. When it closed, it left a real gap for us, one which we've never found any alternative. It's quite exciting for us when we are abroad and come across a C&A (It was only the UK branches they closed). When we were in Berlin, we spent loads in their C&A and brought home nearly a suitcase full!

The old, bright and colourful Body Shop with perfume oils, bath pearls and refill pumps for loads of the products. It's shit now.

GG20 · 18/12/2019 16:08

Definitely Woolworths, Bay Trading and Past Times!

I used to really like Au Naturale for cheap homeware type stuff as well.

jobbymcginty · 18/12/2019 16:09

Woolworth , M&S and bhs used to buy all my bras from there

Roselilly36 · 18/12/2019 16:12

Woolies, Richards Shop, Chelsea Girl.

alltoomuchrightnow · 18/12/2019 16:51

I really miss the old Body Shops too. Why did they stop the refills? It was such a good idea and surely what they were all about. Better products then too like the henna hair conditioner... never found anything to replace that to this day.
Nectar was good too
