Just a quiet place to sit. If you want to gloat or opinionate about Corbyn please go over to AIBU.

One of my colleagues has come in beaming

We work for a Local Authority- what good could she possibly think can come from this for the likes of us?!?!

The "get brexit done" has worked, with no thought as to what will happen to the country thereafter. Only positive thing is Corbyn standing down so we hopefully get a more voteable opposition leader- but that's after 5 years of more austerity, budget cuts, crippling schools and NHS, etc etc.

Honestly all those in the North and wales who voted conservative- stuff them if they all go on to lose their jobs.

JazzyJelly · 13/12/2019 10:56

This has come at the worst possible time for me. I feel like the next 5 years or more will be incredibly difficult. I've no idea how I and more importantly those most vulnerable will get through this.

StarDanced · 13/12/2019 10:57

I'm gutted too. I work in education and have seen first hand what not funding mental health and social services is doing to children. I have seen what austerity is doing to children. It is so disheartening to feel like I am in such a minority with my views. I fear what more underfunding of services might do to commuities.

Yes sultan. One quick glance at social media this morning shows me that the most gleeful, vocal people are the one who are going to be the most directly affected. But....Brexit. Those people were lied to and exploited. The tories really have played a blinder.

TheSultanofPingu · 13/12/2019 11:11

Depressing isn't it Sagrad.
They have managed to win the working class over with their 'Get Brexit done' mantra.
It's like right to buy all over again, but this time with absolutely nothing to show for it but worry and uncertainty for years to come.

Vinorosso74 · 13/12/2019 11:11

I'd like to join too. I feel very disheartened.
The country is more divided than ever and I don't see an end to it. Services need proper funding to support everyone whether that be socially, health, education, policing etc. The increase in poverty in my area is so obvious. The Tories don't care and most people will suffer. I do wonder what will be made of this time period by future generations.

Piggywaspushed · 13/12/2019 11:13

So, I teach secondary in a generally affluent true Blue area: very aspirational parents who want the most for their children despite having voted to basically underfund them. you can't make silk purses out of a sow's ear! And they will push and push and whine on MN and then wonder why their kids' teachers are leaving in droves.

riotlady · 13/12/2019 11:19

Broken hearted. I’m in the North East and we have our first Tory MP in nearly a hundred years.

Locally, child mortality has been on the rise since austerity began. Can you believe that? In this day and age, in a developed country, more children are dying. And we’ve abandoned our roots and our traditions to vote in droves for the fuckers that are to blame.

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 13/12/2019 11:20

Why are you worried about you're SEN child? Generally just wandering.

Because funding cuts have decimated SEN provision in schools. There is minimal help and support, and the situation will only get worse under a government who are responsible for the cuts in the first place.

riotlady · 13/12/2019 11:20

I’m also due to graduate into an NHS career at the end of 2020, so that will be a right fucking laugh! Hmm

MamaGothel · 13/12/2019 11:20

I don't understand either, some of the most vocal Tory supporters I know are the people openly despised by the Tories! I'm talking about disabled people, single mums on benefits. My own mother lost her DLA when it changed to PIP and now scrapes by on a pittance- tory supporter! Most people on my facebook seemed more anti-Corbyn then anything, though.

IScreamForIceCreams · 13/12/2019 11:26

Gutted...I'll be the only EU citizen in my family soon. We left the UK 6 yrs ago, I worked and lived in the UK for 20+ years. I would not feel welcome anymore :-(. Gutted for my DH and DD, both Brits, both now in limbo.

I'm especially devastated for the homeless. Those that have lost their homes over the last ten years, those that will be continued to be forced into homelessness, and those that will continue to be ignored.

:(

MyReadingChallenge · 13/12/2019 12:17

I knew Labour wasn’t going to do well but totally gutted at how badly they’ve done. I love JC and I think he would have been a good leader. The media bias against him was just awful.

My constituency is actually the only one who has swung conservative to Labour so that’s a very small positive.

SpiderCharlotte · 13/12/2019 12:44

There are some posts that I've read on here this morning which prove to me that some people who voted Tory, really and genuinely don't care about people in this country who are struggling. They don't care about education or health services. They. Don't. Care.

And then there are others who really just don't understand. The ones asking the questions that they should have researched the answers to before putting their cross anywhere near a ballot paper.

amd4578 · 13/12/2019 12:49

@SJaneS48 yes but again this is a big case of people not reading things and just going by social media posts...

These are the figures of additional investment on top of what is currently invested now... So actually the next 3 years the amount increases befor then going back down to the levels of now..

People really need to get there facts befor trying to scare monger people...

These are the actual things from the manefesto...

^^ Yes

mathanxiety · 13/12/2019 12:50

That was to SpiderCharlotte

sashh · 13/12/2019 12:55

And I'm sure that Scotland will leave the Union now and I didn't want that either

I don't, but I hope they will accept English / Welsh /NI refugees.

OnlyTheTitOfTheIceberg · 13/12/2019 13:00

Can I join? I'm disabled, my DH is disabled, he's going through a PIP appeal, he's reliant on the NHS to keep him alive, we live in one of the poorest parts of the country barely keeping our head above water...this is just shit.

I try hard not to fall into the trap of thinking Tory voters are all selfish and uncaring - factually, that cannot be correct. I struggle more with not feeling resentful at the sheer stupidity of a great chunk of the electorate. I don't mean "if they don't vote the same as me they must be stupid" thinking, I mean actual demonstrable lack of understanding of how the country works, the EU works, the political process...any of it. On another thread about Brexit, someone actually something like "if life in the EU is so great why have we had so much austerity?" How do you cope with knowing that level of ignorance has had a major influence on the direction of the country over the next five years and beyond? And I know that's intellectual snobbery, I'm not advocating for minimum IQ standards before you can vote and I'm not proud of myself for thinking like that...but this morning, when I wonder if my DH will even still be alive after another five years of Tory rule, it's hard not to feel bitter.

colouringinpro · 13/12/2019 13:01

Thanks OP. Totally Gutted here. My poor ds is already being appallingly failed by CAMHS and the NHS, and I know there are hundreds of thousands in similarly awful situations. SadSad

managedmis · 13/12/2019 13:04

I keep thinking that then when I realise that I do. There are so many people who say how awful a situation is (food banks, no funding for health care and education etc) but in reality, they really and truly do not care one bit. They're not interested.

^

This. People do not give a shit.
