Just a quiet place to sit. If you want to gloat or opinionate about Corbyn please go over to AIBU.

I didn’t really like any of the leader, but I did vote leave in the referendum.. The stats clearly show this as a huge labour loss not a big Tory win.

Surely in that sense instead of blaming people for voting Tory the blame needs to lie with Corbyn for his stubbornness on Brexit. The result today clearly shows leave would have won in a second referendum. If Corby had just accepted that People voted for Brexit instead of clinging to the hope that people would have changed their minds than the result could have been different today.

We can all complain that this was an election on Brexit and what about everything else, but the country voted for Brexit and labour were not going to deliver it. This would have been so undemocratic that it’s not surprising people didn’t trust a Corbyn anymore!!

TheBlueStocking · 13/12/2019 10:06

@SlowAndWild

Then please enjoy gleefully further upsetting people who are already frightened and heartbroken. What a swell person you are.

WesternMeadowlark · 13/12/2019 10:10

"Ignore the goady ones. There are some who take delight in others unhappiness."

They're also adding weight to the theory that it's about spite.

No even halfway decent human being responds in such a way to other people being in a state of very well-founded fear. Ever.

Though the other weird thing is how many seem to be in this strange, regressed state, where their understanding that actions have consequences, and if you take the action - when in adequate possession of the facts - you're responsible for the consequences, has broken. It's like denial turned up to 11. That principle is such a basic fact of life and of how reality works, but it's like it's just... gone, for them.

I suspect that many of them honestly think that Conservative policies can't be "that bad", because they themselves aren't the kinds of people who would vote for something that bad, and they voted Conservative.

"Stop exaggerating how bad it's going to be; I voted Tory, and I'm not the kind of person who would vote for something that bad, and what's more, you're being really rude, suggesting that I am!" You just DID!

It's bizarre.

SlowAndWild · 13/12/2019 10:13

Oh please,don't be so dramatic.

TheBlueStocking · 13/12/2019 10:13

I think it's psychologically very difficult for human beings to conceive of themselves as bad people, even when they are staring their bad deeds in the face.

Anyway, big hugs and lots of support for all who voted Labour yesterday. So many, many decent people out there. Thank you x

SlowAndWild · 13/12/2019 10:16

Please explain why lifelong working class Labour voters, voted Tory. And please don't tell me they don't care about poverty because that is total bollocks.

GruffaIoChrimbo · 13/12/2019 10:18

Our labour MP Jonathan Reynolds held onto his seat. So my vote didn't go to waste. He was lucky though - the Brexit Party split the vote.

SlowAndWild · 13/12/2019 10:19

Do you actually believe that voting Conservative means you are a bad, evil person? That is a pathetic sweeping generalization and shows you know nothing outside of your own blinked political view.

TheBlueStocking · 13/12/2019 10:20

Slur campaigns in the media
Election called immediately before Brexit before its punishing reality becomes evident

I won't be responding to any further questions on this matter, as you are spoiling this thread for the people who need it.

GruffaIoChrimbo · 13/12/2019 10:20

I assume slow that they were feeling a bit Brexity and wanted Get Brexit Done at any cost. And that they are easily influenced by the media.

GloriaMumsnet · 13/12/2019 10:23

Hi everyone, popping in to say that whilst people are entitled to their say, this is supposed to be a thread for support and some of these posts don't feel in the spirit of that. There are plenty of political threads on the site right now to join in with - some more about discussion of issues rather than support. If the personal or goady attacks continue on this one, we're going to have to take this one down, which would be a shame.

WesternMeadowlark · 13/12/2019 10:26

"I think it's psychologically very difficult for human beings to conceive of themselves as bad people, even when they are staring their bad deeds in the face."

That is very true. Though I'd understand it more if the refusal to think things through and take responsibility was universal. The fact that a significant minority do consistently manage to do those things makes the ones who don't look a lot more suspect.

@GloriaMumsnet please don't take the thread down. But please delete the truly awful goady and gloating posts, many of which are still there Sad

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/12/2019 10:31

Please don't take this thread down @GloriaMumsnet Don't let the goady ones have their way, don't let them shut down our voices. Just delete the awful ones and as for the rest of us - ignore, ignore, ignore.

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 13/12/2019 10:37

Checking in for a big hug please. I’ve been sitting crying in front of the TV.

I have a child with SEN and I am so afraid for her future.

Sagradafamiliar · 13/12/2019 10:39

The irony is that I know for a fact that some of the most vulnerable people to Tory policies (I know in RL), voted for them based on Brexit and nothing else. I tried to tell them but they wouldn't listen, they 'wanted to leave the EU' for xenophobic reasons and nothing else was taken on board.
Now they are fucked, alongside decent people who didn't vote conservative, who are now continuing to live with effectively, a death sentence. I truly feel sick that this is what people wanted. All the tories gloating must be completely out of touch with the lives of some of the working classes.

CochonDinde · 13/12/2019 10:39

I was on my work do last night and have made a complete twat of myself by crying last night once the result started to become clear. I've had sketchy MH over the last few years and this is the tip of the iceberg... feeling utterly depressed this morning

ethelredonagoodday · 13/12/2019 10:41

Am so disappointed. What a mess.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/12/2019 10:43

Massive hugs.

Leek sweetie, turn off the tv. Or turn it onto netflix if you have that. You too Cochon. It's a blessed relief not to listen to all the analysis and stuff. Time for that another day.

What do you both like doing that you can do? Do something that you like, even if it's just listening to some music while you get on with stuff. If you can get out in the fresh air, that's a good idea. Look at the birds, they are so fun at this time of year.

amd4578 · 13/12/2019 10:47

Why are you worried about you're SEN child? Generally just wandering.

maxbabi · 13/12/2019 10:51

I'm gutted and so are most of my friends. I'm London based.
Really really don't want to live under a tory govt. This is just so unfair. Too hurt to listen to the radio or TV so watching friends. My daughter who voted for me first time is also upset.
This hurts it really does.

TheBlueStocking · 13/12/2019 10:52

I'm struggling to think of a single positive thing I can do today. I'm exhausted from a terrible night's sleep. And just feel too depressed to get out of bed. Luckily, I don't have anything to do until this afternoon.

TheSultanofPingu · 13/12/2019 10:53

SlowandWild I believe that working class voters voted conservative because of Brexit. They were fed lies through social media that the EU was responsible for their poverty, not this barbaric Tory government with it's years of austerity.
I'm a working class voter btw, who didn't fall for that shit.
The Tories don't care a jot for the working class, they never have done.
Lots of people are massively going to regret their vote I think.

anxioussue · 13/12/2019 10:53

Yesterday I thought the future was hopeless today I don't have a future
