I know bmi wise it’s right at the top bmi 24.9

Same height too

Abetes · 05/12/2019 10:07

It would be too heavy for me, but like previous people have said, it really depends on your build and so on. I’m the same height as you and weigh 8 and a half stone but I’ve got a great lump of fat round my stomach which needs to be shifted so I don’t look at all good for my weight. My best friend is the same height as me and weighs a stone more but, because she is super toned, she looks slimmer and better than I do.

SpiderCharlotte · 05/12/2019 10:16

My friend and I are pretty much the same height and weight. She can carry an extra half stone or so without anyone noticing - I can't at all. I have small hands, feet and I look totally out of proportion. I'm too heavy at the moment and doing something about it but that's mainly down to how I look and feel.

SpiderCharlotte · 05/12/2019 10:19

Just got to 10.5 stone down from 11st 9 and look much slimmer people have commented. Attempting to lose the next half stone...

Well you will look much slimmer because you are slimmer! Grin Really well done, it's not easy to lose weight when it's more than a couple of pounds.

gypsywater · 05/12/2019 10:23

@MrsMaiselsMuff my body image is great thanks, how about yours?

YouJustDoYou · 05/12/2019 10:25

I would have to run minimum 5k every single day and eat lettuce and dust to get down to 9st (I'm 5'5 and currently 71kg). I'm a size 14 and wish I could be slimmer but right now I just don't have the time or energy and to be honest I don't see the point anyway. I have no health related issues, I can run around after my kids, it's fine for now.

egontoste · 05/12/2019 10:29

That was my normal weight (once upon a time!) when I was in my 20's - 5'7 and a half and about a size 12ish bordering on a 14 in skimpy stuff.

Impossible to say whether that weight would be right for you because it all depends on your frame and bust size.

Vanhi · 05/12/2019 10:34

It was desided last year that the BMI rating is not terrible accurate, because muscle weighs more than fat,

1kg of muscle weighs the same as 1kg of fat. Muscle is denser than fat though so the muscle would occupy less space.

OP I agree with PP - you just can't tell from those numbers. How do you feel about yourself? Are you physically fit? Are you able to be active and mobile? I'd use fitness indicators, allowing for any disabilities, more than I would use BMI which is a guideline, nothing more.

Alfiemoon1 · 05/12/2019 10:45

Think it depends on your frame and body shape I am 4 ft 11 and very petite build I weigh 5.5 to 6 stone despite eating loads so it would be way to heavy for me

SpiderCharlotte · 05/12/2019 10:54

@Alfiemoon1 You're a vastly different height to the OP so of course it would be too heavy for you.

rattusrattus20 · 05/12/2019 10:54

it's not dreadfully bad, pretty much regardless of your age etc.

if you're slightish, with relatively little muscle, then it's, sure, overweight by at least a few pounds, though nothing too dreadful.

if you're heavily built/muscular then it might be near enough the perfect weight.

Concestor · 05/12/2019 11:50

I'm the same height and currently 10st 2 after dieting from 11st 1 and I am still too fat. I look best just under 9st. Anything over 9 1/2 I have rolls of back fat.
Sorry OP but I'd say yes you are overweight based on my body. I'm only just in healthy BMI now and st the very top of it.

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 05/12/2019 11:59

zurala

What?

Where did you get 10 st 2 from as the very top of your BMI?
If you are five foot five, the healthy weight range goes from 7st 13lb to 10st 10lb.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 05/12/2019 12:36

It depends on your build I would say. If you have wide hips and size 7 feet it's probably the perfect weight for you. If you are slim of hip with size 3 shoes your probably be a little overweight.

mistermagpie · 05/12/2019 12:55

I am 5'8'' and weigh 10 stone 12. That's a good stone or so too heavy for how comfortable I am, although BMI is totally fine. It all comes down to health and how you feel about it.

Frame matters too, I was 9 stone before I got pregnant and never looked 'gaunt' or 'skeletal' like lots of people seem to think they do at heavier/shorter 'stats' than that.

lljkk · 05/12/2019 19:41

I don't believe that people do vary that much. I just can't.
Some folk are better at hiding their flab.
When I use one of those websites for my height+weight: all the women look just like me. Ok, somehave bigger boobs or scrawnier arms, but fundamentally we all look tremendously similar.

The idea that someone could be my measurements (bust-waist-hips) and weight 6+ kg or more less - no, I'm not buying it.

orangeteal · 05/12/2019 19:51

10.5st is too big for me at 5ft5, I'm not terribly active so not overly muscular. I tend to sit naturally at 10st at a size 10/12 but am healthier and look better at 9.5stone.

managedmis · 05/12/2019 21:19

I'm 5'5 and aroun 9.7 stone which feels fine. I'd feel like I was carrying it at ten and a half, tbh.

I'm average build, big boobs though. I swear they weigh half a stone!

Lardlizard · 05/12/2019 23:54

Come jan I’m starting more excercise and healthier eatting mid like to lose half a stone which surely should’nt be that hard

Alfiemoon 4ft 11? Wow that is a pretty different height !

OP posts:
Lardlizard · 05/12/2019 23:55

I’d say med frame
Boobs
Overall hourglass shape
But a bit of a c section overhang
Which I’m thinking about getting sorted by plastic surgery

Destinysdaughter · 06/12/2019 00:02

I don't understand how you can be a size 10 if you're 5 foot 5 and weigh 10 and a half stone? That's my weight and I'm a size 14! Though I'm an apple shape so my weight is on my boobs and tum.

abitoflight · 06/12/2019 00:09

Agree with destinysdaughter
I'm 5'5.5" and a good stone and half less than that and my 10 jeans too tight

Fredy45 · 06/12/2019 09:06

Destiny'sdaughter - I am struggling with my weight at the moment (thank you thyroid) and have gone up to about 11 stone 12. I am 5 3 (yes clearly overweight, no need for people to point that out). I went shopping for smart work clothes and jeans the other day so fairly fitted stuff and I was a 14 more often than not.

This is general high street. I am an hourglass shape with a proportionally small waist and a small rib cage though.

Fredy45 · 06/12/2019 09:14

Although when I was 3 stone heavier I never went over a size 18 but when I was less than 10 stone I was still a 12. It takes me a good 1.5 stone to change a dress size.

Compact is what DH calls me

DreamingofSunshine · 06/12/2019 15:08

@Destinysdaughter the odd size 10 of my Pre illness wardrobe fits but certainly nothing fitted! I'm 5ft 5 and approx 10st 12. If I was buying something new I'd try the size 12 first.
