I know bmi wise it’s right at the top bmi 24.9

OP posts:
BlaueLagune · 05/12/2019 09:09

I'm 5 foot 4 and when I was 10.5 stone I was overweight and looked it. I wasn't fat and I didn't waddle, but I'm 9 stone now and look 100 times better.

Juliette20 · 05/12/2019 09:11

It would be fine for me. I'm a size ten at BMI 25.

Strugglingtodomybest · 05/12/2019 09:11

I'm 5 4 and weigh 10 10, I'm a size 10. If I drop to 10 7 I get loads of comments about looking skinny. It's a huge effort to get to 10 7 too, so I don't bother.

Scooby30 · 05/12/2019 09:11

I am 5ft 5, I am a size 14 to 16 I am 11 stone 12 most of the time but that goes up and daily. My waist is 31inches but the fattest part of my stomach is 37inches my thighs are 42inches And bust 32 inches, I have broad shoulders small waist small bum but big hips but I think I look for it. I think your weight is fine for you.

Scooby30 · 05/12/2019 09:12

I mean I'm 11 stone 2

Happyspud · 05/12/2019 09:15

It is always so strange how different weights and heights translate as completely different for people. I guess it’s always subjective and in the interpretation.

It would be heavy looking on me. I’m 5ft 5.

Hannahthepink · 05/12/2019 09:19

I'm 5'5'' and 10 stone is my very happy weight. It's when I look best and feel healthiest. At that weight I'm a size 10-12. I start looking a bit too 'soft' at 11 stones. (Although after two babies I feel like I may never get back there!)

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 05/12/2019 09:20

This thread is so interesting!

I'm 5ft 6, and my "fighting weight" is about 10stone 2. If I go up to ten and a half, I feel a bit porky. A couple of years ago I was really ill, and dropped to nine and a half, and I looked gaunt. Both of those weights are fine in terms of BMI.

I weigh myself once a week, and am currently sitting at 10/4 as of yesterday - possibly slightly higher than usual because I'm pre-menstrual. I wear a UK 10 in most places, very occasionally a 12 in trousers.

Winesalot · 05/12/2019 09:21

To anyone saying this is overweight- you are irresponsible. Surely in this age of self awareness that numbers like these don’t reflect muscle, frame size and even bone density that someone can be ‘overweight’ while others can be borderline gaunt. Or do you all seriously believe that your body is the same as everyone else’s?

OP listen to those who are telling you that it depends on so many other factors. And there are many people on here telling you their experiences based on their body and where this is not overweight. Which, incidentally, is where I fall with a large frame and lean muscle.

If you really need to get this advice, I’d recommend going to see a professional. Don’t listen to anyone who says you are or aren’t overweight based on the numbers you have given.

Just no!!

mymadworld · 05/12/2019 09:21

I'm 5ft6 and at 10st 7 look ok in clothes but wobbly without! My mum is 5ft5 and 8 stone and most people refer to her as being 'so slim' or even skinny.
Under 10 stone around 9st7 is where I should be to not carry extra excessive fat and be able to wear fitted clothes without worrying about bulges! Unfortunately I eat too much to sustain this weight plus have no boobs when I lose weight which is more miserable than a bit of a tummy or slightly wobbly thighs!

Wexone · 05/12/2019 09:24

Same height and weight here with same BMI. For me an definiteley nearly a stone overweight, and it all shows on my belly. My clothes are tight and i avoid now slim fitting clothes, will be doing something about it in the new year. I know its not massively overweight however i am worried about it creeping up on me for life and want to change it for the better.

Winesalot · 05/12/2019 09:25

purely based on the numbers you have given.

recycledbottle · 05/12/2019 09:25

I am that weight and height and I feel it is too big for me. I am a size 12. 9 1/2 stone looks great on me and I can get away with 10stone but 10 1/2 is too much. I am in my forties and have an underactive thyroid so find it extremely difficult to shift weight.

TrickyKid · 05/12/2019 09:28

Yes, definitely. I'm similar hight and weigh the moment unfortunately. Around 8st would be healthier.

WorraLiberty · 05/12/2019 09:28

There's no point in asking the internet OP, as answers will vary wildly.

The best tools are your eyes and your honesty.

Stand naked in front of a full length mirror and you'll have your answer.

Solihooley · 05/12/2019 09:30

If you’re fit and healthy it’s absolutely fine. I’m just under that, I don’t feel overweight. I’m a size 10/12 and look pretty normal. Of course I could be slimmer. If you do no exercise and live on crap then you should address it.

euphorbian · 05/12/2019 09:30

Do not use the BMI. It is completely misleading.

Measure your waist instead.

Lucked · 05/12/2019 09:31

What do you think OP are you happy?

DamnitCharlie · 05/12/2019 09:32

I'm 5 ft 8 and I feel a little pudgy at 10 and a half stone. I find 10st is ideal for me and I can fit into 10/12 clothes. I don't exercise apart from walking though so I could probably stand be a bit heavier if I had any muscle!
Anything under 10 st and people have commented on me looking gaunt though.

Xenia · 05/12/2019 09:40

Someone who has been 15 stone at that height might be delighted but for most people including me ( I am about that height). 8 stone 8 looks good, under 9 stone is ideal, 9 - 10 is okay but not so good in tight dresses, and 10 and over is a bit too much although I certainly have been over that at various stages and am now.

SpiderCharlotte · 05/12/2019 09:41

Some people really cannot, or will not, accept that fat distribution and your frame do play a part in this.

However, since some just love a chart to tell them what they should be, according to the NHS Healthy Height/Weight chart that weight is just within the healthy weight range. 8 stone, as someone suggested is just on the cusp of being underweight.

People carry weight differently, only you can decide what is comfortable and healthy for you.

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 05/12/2019 09:41

Hang on a minute, a 5 foot 5 woman with a a weight of 10 stone 7 has a BMI of 24.4.

Thestrangestthing · 05/12/2019 09:48

I'm 5'10 and 12st12. I'm heavier than I would like to be, but still a healthy weight according to bmi 23.8.
The lowest healthy weight for my height is 9st3. I've been 10st 6 at my lightest, when I was younger and people used to say I was too thin and looked unwell Confused. I thought I looked great. I would love to go back to that weight but sadly I know I never will, I'm a greedy bitch and can't get out of my bad eating habits. Also can't cope with feeling hungry now with kids to run around after and a full time job. I will say when I was that weight I really hardly ate anything and went to the gym a lot (pre children).

SummerPavillion · 05/12/2019 09:52

It's way too dependent on body shape to be able to say. Also I think some people are more 'dense' than others - I've always weighed less than I look and have friends who weigh more than you'd think.

I'm 5'5" and best at 7st 10lbs BUT I have a very narrow frame so any more than that basically sticks to me in saddlebags Sad

Can easily imagine a woman the same height looking totally fine at 10st 7.

MsTSwift · 05/12/2019 09:55

Just got to 10.5 stone down from 11st 9 and look much slimmer people have commented. Attempting to lose the next half stone...
