No not at all. Your even in healthy bmi, regardless of it being top end or bottom end it's in the healthy bit.

Laughterisbest · 05/12/2019 08:39

you could be a top athlete and showing as overweight

I doubt if MN is full of top athletes enquiring if their weight is ok.

frumpety · 05/12/2019 08:43

It depends , where do you carry your fat ? is it all over, abdomen, hips, bum , thighs ? What does your waist measure ? How old are you ? how toned are you ? Are you male or female ?

PickAChew · 05/12/2019 08:45

It's fine if you're healthy and active.

These threads often attract people with extreme and sometimes downright disordered views, either way, as evidenced by the people who have already declared you fat with no other info.

EagleSqueak · 05/12/2019 08:46

Depends on too many other things. My friend and I are exactly the same height - she weighs 9 12 st and I weigh 11. She has size 3 feet, mine are a 7 and her hands are tiny in comparison to mine. Even her head is smaller than mine - hers is swamped by hats which perch ridiculously on top of mine. Neither of us is overweight to look at.

feelingverylazytoday · 05/12/2019 08:47

CanIhaveadrink that doesn't work for people with small hips/flat bums either, seeing as they can still have a small waist. Some people use the height/waist ratio instead, ie waist should be 50% or less of height measurement.

EagleSqueak · 05/12/2019 08:47

9 1/2

amusedbush · 05/12/2019 08:48

I'm 5' 5 with quite a broad frame and a decent amount of muscle. I'm carrying more weight than I'd like at the moment but when I was 12 stone I was a size 12.

(Someone on here tried to fight me on that but I swear it's true. A couple of years ago I was 12st on the nose, very fit and wore a 12 in pretty much all clothes).

I'd look GREAT at 10.5 stone Grin

cataline · 05/12/2019 08:50

I'm 5'5" and look very skinny at 10.5 stone.

It's actually my target weight- I'm currently sitting at about 12.5 and whilst I don't look massive, I'm definitely on the tubby side!

circleorsquare · 05/12/2019 08:50

I think we can't say! I'm 9 stone 11 and 5 ft 7 and look heavy and need to wear a 12!

gypsywater · 05/12/2019 08:52

I'm 5'5" and 8 stone 4lbs and a Size 8. I would feel huge two stone heavier. Sorry!

nocluewhattodoo · 05/12/2019 08:54

I'm 5'5", I weighed 10st at 9 months pregnant so I would consider that too much weight for me to carry day to day. Depends on how much is muscle/fat.

Settlersofcatan · 05/12/2019 08:55

I think boobs make a big difference - at that weight I am a 32H with a 28 inch waist and look pretty good.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 05/12/2019 08:55

I would feel huge two stone heavier.

But you wouldn't be huge, that's just your poor body image telling you that.

TryingToBeBold · 05/12/2019 08:56

I'm 5ft 2 and 10st 4, and would be more comfortable after losing another stone and a half.
Although I did have a baby in the spring Grin so I think I'm excused. 8and a half stone and a size 6-8 is ideal for me.

Amber2019 · 05/12/2019 08:57

It depends on your build I'd say. When I was that weight at 5,6 I was a size 10 with plenty of room. I'd love to be that weight now. Looking back at pictures i actually looked like i weighed less than that. It's just how you carry it.

TheBlueStocking · 05/12/2019 08:58

To be honest, I do, unless you're a bodybuilder. I am two inches shorter and that's two and a half stone heavier than me.

PinkDaffodil2 · 05/12/2019 08:59

It depends on how you carry it - quickest way to check is waist measurement, less than 31.5 inches is reassuring for a white woman.
Or compare waist to height - if your waist is less than half your height (32.5 for you) that’s also a good measure.
BMI is a good rough guide, if both BMI and waist are normal I wouldn’t worry.

Newcatmum · 05/12/2019 09:00

I'm 5'6" and 11st 7. I'm a 10/12 and I look and feel much better at that weight than the 9st I was 2 years ago as I looked very gaunt then.

This is my height and weight (well I was last time I looked I imagine it's probably more now Sad) and I am a size 14/16. Just shows how much it varies person to person. I carry all of my weight on my stomach and hips Sad.

Atalune · 05/12/2019 09:01

Nothing good can come of this thread!

If you’re worried about your health then go and get your cholesterol, bloody oxygen, resting heart rate and visceral fat measured. Those are the proper indicators.

Ask yourself-
Do I eat a balanced healthy diet?
Do I take regular exercise including resistance and cardio?
Am I more or less happy and contented?

Size is SO subjective. Appearance is SO subjective.

Love the skin you’re in. Smile

MerryGrinch · 05/12/2019 09:05

That's my height and weight. I feel ok at this weight but it's because I was 12stone a couple of years ago and that was definitely too big. My ideal weight is 9.5 stone and I struggle to maintain that unless I do a lot of exercise.

Purplecatshopaholic · 05/12/2019 09:05

BMI is a very rough guide. I think frame comes into it a lot. It depends how you feel within yourself too. For me that weight is too much - I am 5ft 6. I felt and looked heavy at that weight. I stay at the lower end of weight for my height - 8 and a half stone - and look and feel much better in (and out of!) clothes at this weight.

wigglybeezer · 05/12/2019 09:06

I'm 5 6 and the same weight and do not like it, would need to lose a stone to get back to my preferred size. I am over fifty and the extra weight tends to sit round my middle. We have definitely normalized being a bit bigger, looking at old photos reveals that.

PhoneLock · 05/12/2019 09:07

But you wouldn't be huge, that's just your poor body image telling you that.

Or her good body image encouraging her to stay well within the healthy weight range.

OpheIiaBaIIs · 05/12/2019 09:07

I'm 5ft 6 and a size 16. No idea what I weigh, I suffered from anorexia for a lot of my 20s so never, ever weigh now. At your weight OP I'd be a size 10/12.

I couldn't care less about all this guff about 'normalising being overweight to be kind'. I would much, much rather be even two stone overweight (which I probably am now) to weighing 6 and a half stone which I did when I had anorexia. Let me tell you, being two stone - or even one stone - underweight is far more detrimental to health (mental and physical) than being two stone overweight.

OP, be whichever weight you're comfortable at. Obviously being 18 stone or whatever isn't ideal, but your weight is fine, if you feel healthy. And I'm sure you look fab.
