Any Netflix hidden Christmas gems

... I'm thinking like A Christmas Prince which was unexpectedly good!

I know they commission loads at Christmas but are they all trash (bad trash not good trash)!?

Another vote for Klaus. Going to look up the others. The main problem (as a user, I can see why they don't do it) is that you can't rate and review on Netflix.

So I have to actually watch for 20 mins before deciding it's crap. Which ad far as their viewing figures go means I have "watched" it. Which is why they do it of course. Still, annoying.

marmiteloversunite · 04/12/2019 19:28

Channel 5 have a Christmas film every afternoon and you can watch them on the My5 catch up channel.

Flamingolegs · 04/12/2019 19:31

I was just about to say that too marmite there are some real horrors gems on there!

The Princess Switch is so cheesy. It was great!

BaubleTheLumpOfCoal · 04/12/2019 20:16

@StCharlotte Solidarity, I happen to cohabit with a man who enjoys ALL the sports.
Near on £100 for Sky Q per month, plus £20 for BT Sports
Then Amazon Prime and Netflix (which I believe has gone up to nearly £12?!)

My TV bill is ludicrous.
'Tis why I'm so pissed off about the Christmas film scam!

BaubleTheLumpOfCoal · 04/12/2019 20:17

Oh and £10 per month for his teams Sky Channel.
I'm sure there's another sports one too!

mogtheexcellent · 04/12/2019 21:51

I love all the Christmas cheesy films. Found this interesting article about behind the scenes of a hallmark film written by an extra hallmark christmas film

It all gets filmed in 15 days Shock

LewisFan · 04/12/2019 22:49

I loved Angela's Christmas last year - it's an hour long cartoon iirc but very sweet

burnoutbabe · 04/12/2019 23:05

I watched North Pole open for Xmas at the weekend (channel 5) was lovely. There was a career woman, a nice widower with cute daughter. I enjoyed!
Will try Christmas prince soon to enjoy the trilogy. Am sure it will be rubbish but who cares! It's Xmas

Fucck · 05/12/2019 08:09

The Princess Switch is so cheesy. It was great!

I follow one of the actors on Instagram and they posted this week saying they're currently filming a sequel.

I have nowtv too and it doesn't seem to have any Christmas content at all yet. They had a full Christmas genre tab in previous years I'm sure, but this year - nada 🤷🏼‍♀️
Although, I watched The Family Stone last week which was ok.

Sammi38 · 05/12/2019 08:14

Love the Christmas Prince films! Can’t wait for the next one this weekend.

Also, the knight before Christmas was a right load of cheese, but strangely feel good.

caranx · 05/12/2019 08:19

Angel of Christmas

And as PP have said:
Princess Switch
The Holiday Calendar
Christmas Prince (the first one)

mogtheexcellent · 05/12/2019 09:02

I'm currently watching a star for christmas. Suitably silly but female lead is annoying.

I secretly love the cheesy hallmark crap featuring candace cameron bure (aurora teagarden mysteries) so yesterday watched Christmas under wraps and switched at Christmas. Both easy watching and good.

mogtheexcellent · 05/12/2019 09:03

Sorry forgot to add allnon ch5 or the sony xmas channel. I dont have Netflix and the selection on amazon prime is a bit rubbish.

doadeer · 05/12/2019 09:46

I just watched the Christmas Prince trailer. Very excited. My 10 month old doesn't look impressed so I think I'll wait till I'm in the bath or something 😂

I came on to recommend Angela's Christmas but someone has already mentioned it. A beautiful film but only about 30 mins long. It's based on Frank Mc Court's book, Angela and the baby Jesus and based on a story his mother told about her childhood.

hartof · 05/12/2019 10:43

The Holiday Calendar, Christmas in the Wild, and Christmas Inheritance are all good.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 05/12/2019 11:20

The kids are with my parents this afternoon so I'll be home alone. I'm going to light the fire and curl up with the Christmas Prince: the Royal Baby Xmas Grin

Wendyasbury · 05/12/2019 11:57

Another vote for Angelas Christmas

Skyejuly · 05/12/2019 12:02

Spotted one called Christmas rush? Might watch later.

Chickenitalia · 05/12/2019 16:27

I watched the Royal Baby one over lunch. Utterly glorious, ridiculous story, drama, bling. It was perfection, plus a baby (yay!).

Planning on the Holiday Rush one with the ironing this evening. Too much misery around in the world just at the moment, I need to escape!

GoGoLego · 05/12/2019 17:39

Went home early today has wasn't feeling great. Watched Holiday in the wild. Rob Lowe, elephants and a country v close to my heart what's not to love.

Then watched the Christmas Prince Royal baby which was ok but not as good as the other two movies.

DreamingofSunshine · 05/12/2019 18:10

Just watched Christmas Prince: Royal Baby and it was so cheesy and brilliant!

StCharlotte · 05/12/2019 18:26

Yes the Christmas Swap/Switch was the one about the baker. Ridiculous but lovely.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 05/12/2019 18:31

Royal Baby hit Maximum Cheese almost immediately. Good times : )
