... I'm thinking like A Christmas Prince which was unexpectedly good!

I know they commission loads at Christmas but are they all trash (bad trash not good trash)!?

Thanks Shrumps, that was it!

Amani, Christmas prince, then CP the wedding then CP the baby

123bananas · 03/12/2019 22:17

I enjoyed Get Santa.

Amani · 03/12/2019 22:18

Thanks - I will search for those Smile

I watched Merry Happy Whatever which is a mini Christmas series with Dennis Quaid it was surprisingly funny and very feel good!

RuffleCrow · 04/12/2019 12:40

The netflix christmas choice is really crap this year. I don't even think they've got Nativity!

peachgreen · 04/12/2019 12:46

My claim to fame is that I once snogged the Christmas Prince Grin but I've never actually watched the movies!

I really enjoyed The Christmas Inheritance which was released last year I think.

HigherFurtherFasterBaby · 04/12/2019 12:48

@RuffleCrow Oh they’ve got Nativity alright, and Nativity 2... I’ve got 2 sick DC and we’ve watched both today... And yesterday...

But yes, Netflix, NowTV and Prime all have shite offerings this year.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 04/12/2019 13:04

They have nativity and nativity 2! My kids love them both.

I've researched both christmas Prince ones to prepare for the new one. Utter preposterous delightful tosh : )

I wish they'd get meet me in st Louis though. I watch that and the bishop's wife every year.

ParadiseLaundry · 04/12/2019 13:05

I watched Christmas Inheritance last year and enjoyed it so much I've just rewatched it today. Knight Before Christmas was a bit crap, even for me who usually loves this shite Grin

Christmas Chronicles was so good I'm saving it until closer to Xmas and making DH watch it too.

SaskiaRembrandt · 04/12/2019 14:33

I started watching Merry, Happy, Whatever last night - it was awful, just awful. Admittedly, I'm not the best judge of good Christmas entertainment, and only like It's a Wonderful Life, but even so, this was really bad, like Modern Family or Life in Pieces without any jokes, or likeable characters. I felt quite embarrassed for Dan Quaid.

BaubleTheLumpOfCoal · 04/12/2019 15:59

Netflix took The Grinch, Deck the Halls and Christmas with The Kranks off the platform on the 1st of December.
I shit you not.

Sky want £7.99 to buy Elf, Home Alone and (funnily enough) The Grinch (which was available for free when Netflix still had it on the platform)

Absolutely stinks.

Xmas Angry

I agree the Christmas Knight new one was rubbish. I was disappointed. Not a classic for me. I wish Netflix would do fewer Christmas films but just do them better

OP posts:
Disfordarkchocolate · 04/12/2019 18:28

Christmas with the Kranks is on TV soon, channel 5 this weekend I think. I have set my tv to record so I don't miss it this year @BaubleTheLumpOfCoal.

BaubleTheLumpOfCoal · 04/12/2019 18:32

@Disfordarkchocolate Thank you! Will set it to record now Crown Grin

MutedUser · 04/12/2019 18:35

The Knight before Christmas was shit . Just what I look for in a Christmas film when I know the ending 1 minute into the start. I loved it .

squashyhat · 04/12/2019 18:50

Not Christmas themed per se but the Dolly Parton Heartstrings series is just the right side of feelgood cheese with some quite good writing and acting. Watch with IMDB open so you can play the 'what have I seen them in before?' game. I have so far spotted a West Wing reporter, a Designated Survivor spy and Melissa Leo who was something in Treme. Plus the everlasting Dolly herself of course. Smile

StCharlotte · 04/12/2019 19:00

I watched one last year called the Christmas Swap which was cute. It showed the couple watching the Christmas Prince so I'm guessing it's from the same stable.

StCharlotte · 04/12/2019 19:03

I feel your pain! You should try being/living with a football fan.

doadeer · 04/12/2019 19:11

Hmmmm Christmas swop is ringing a bell.... Did it have the same actress in it? Was she the Baker?

DH is out and my baby has miraculously gone to bed early so I'm having a glass of wine, hazelnut chocolate and watching a Christmas Prince one! ❤️

The Holiday Calendar was surprisingly watchable.

The Christmas Chronicles is great.

Greyhound22 · 04/12/2019 19:19

Oh yes the Christmas Inheritance was good too.

Kanga83 · 04/12/2019 19:20

Angela's Christmas on Netflix is short- 30 mins or so, but my goodness it makes me wail like a baby (possibly because the girl reminds me so much of my daughter). It's the same Angela of Angela's Ashes fame. It's really beautifully made.

Sn0tnose · 04/12/2019 19:20

Fuuck that was 'Let it Snow' - also enjoyed it

Another vote for that, really enjoyed it. The Christmas Chronicles is absolutely fantastic.

JMAngel1 · 04/12/2019 19:24

@Fucck
It was Let It Snow - I loved it but I love a good old ensemble cast Xmas film!
