I've actually found chocolate that I really like.

I've found chocolate that tastes like chocolate. Not posh bars of thin stuff that are really unsatisfying and not things like Cadbury's that now have a waxy after finish , but properly chunky chocolate that tastes like it used to.

It's called Tony's chocolonely. Not sure about the name! But it's properly wrapped in paper and foil, doesn't seem to contain anything it shouldn't and it supports a campaign to end slavery in chocolate. Which is a pretty bloody good aim

I had the chocolate caramel sea salt and it was almost perfect. ( I just wish it could break into even chunks, rather than the creative design it has) I wish I'd bought some other flavours, but next time I'm in town I'll buy a different flavour for comparison.

I knew this thread would be about Tony's. It's amazing compared to all other supermarket chocolates. It's the only brand a lot of us at work eat now.

DontCallMeShitley · 02/12/2019 16:44

Trewser maybe you are used to the sweeter and softer stuff. Tony's is like chocolate used to be pre-palm oil. It seems a long time ago that it went wrong but people have got used to it which is a shame.

I believe chocolate became crappy when the cost of cocoa beans went sky high some years back, so more crud was added to keep the prices down.

Excited101 · 02/12/2019 17:06

In terms of fair trade, it’s the best on the market

Wow, Montezuma has been my favourite so far- I'd not even heard about this one. Will have to try it.

That's quite patronising. I like nice expensive chocolate actually! The Tony's milk choolate tasted like cheap chocolate candy to me, and I know plenty of other people (with discerning palates Hmm) feel the same

TheStaleBiscuitofDoom · 02/12/2019 18:44

Trewser I felt the same way about the milk chocolate.

hazeyjane · 02/12/2019 18:51

I love it (...and think the packaging is fab - it looks like The Banana Splits would eat it!)

The one that is like a Toblerone sounds like heaven, where can I get it?

treepolitics · 02/12/2019 18:55

I like it, I love the brand.

M0reGinPlease · 02/12/2019 19:11

Knew it would be this before I even opened the thread!

A really nice bar of chocolate and a I saw small, single serving ones somewhere recently too.

WrongKindOfFace · 02/12/2019 19:15

Tony’s is great. The pretzel one is my favourite.

It’s a shame though it’s much more expensive here than in the Netherlands. I blame brexit.

Hoppinggreen · 02/12/2019 19:15

Me and DD love it!

KenAdams · 02/12/2019 20:50

@Stumpedasatree any evidence for that as it's one of the reasons I like it in that it doesn't have palm oil in.

ALemonyPea · 02/12/2019 20:55

I've had the blue one, think it's the pretzel one, was very nice. Really want to try the dark almond one now.

FlaviaAlbia · 03/12/2019 11:52

For the sake of science I got some of the milk chocolate in Sainsbury's this morning. I'm not sure about it. I think maybe it's because it's so chunky and hard to break but I think I like Divine chocolate better.

I'll try it again later when it's warmed up a bit, it's freezing from the shelves.

ShivD · 03/12/2019 12:38

The salted caramel one is my favourite and I quite like the tobelorone style one too. I keep buying it and then eating too much Blush

It’s ethical credentials are a massive plus for me too.

viccat · 03/12/2019 12:42

I also guessed it would be Tony's before opening the thread. I discovered it earlier this year and love it. Yes, it's more expensive but as with many other things, it's more expensive because of its fairtrade credentials.

I love the yellow nougat one, and the red plain milk one, as well as this salted caramel. There are many more flavours of it available in the Netherlands as well, I wish we had those!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/12/2019 13:03

No nougat one here. I've bought a chocolate and almond one though, which I'll start once I've finished the salted caramel.

Well done for joining the experiment Flávia Grin

I had to join the experiment.

Can't say I can see what the fuss is about Blush

I tried it again today Grin

Still don't like it.

The pretzel one is better.

Orangecake123 · 03/12/2019 14:22

I never noticed the word colon in it.

Thanks!

Comefromaway · 03/12/2019 14:35

I KNEW this thread would be about Tony's.

Dd went on a school trip to Holland where they stayed with host families and they introduced her to it. It is bloody lovely!!!!!

There is an almond honey nougat one (think Toblerone but a zillion times nicer) that is gorgeous.

Allegorical · 03/12/2019 15:10

Just added to my Ocado shop. Always on the lookout for decent chocolate.

FlaviaAlbia · 03/12/2019 17:22

My dedication to science astounds even me OhYouBadBadKitten Xmas Grin

Just had another bit now it's warmed up and it's much better. I like it Xmas Grin

angelaEhen · 03/12/2019 17:27

I didn't think it was anything special,
Milka is the best chocolate!
