I've actually found chocolate that I really like.

I've found chocolate that tastes like chocolate. Not posh bars of thin stuff that are really unsatisfying and not things like Cadbury's that now have a waxy after finish , but properly chunky chocolate that tastes like it used to.

It's called Tony's chocolonely. Not sure about the name! But it's properly wrapped in paper and foil, doesn't seem to contain anything it shouldn't and it supports a campaign to end slavery in chocolate. Which is a pretty bloody good aim

I had the chocolate caramel sea salt and it was almost perfect. ( I just wish it could break into even chunks, rather than the creative design it has) I wish I'd bought some other flavours, but next time I'm in town I'll buy a different flavour for comparison.

I absolutely love Tony's.

But the problem is I can very happily eat the whole bar. That's bad enough with a big bag of Galaxy or something but Tony's is a LOT bigger.

Trewser · 03/12/2019 17:56

Omg I'd forgotten about Milka. It is the best I agree.

Thegreymethod · 03/12/2019 18:05

I opened this thread knowing what chocolate it was going to be!! ...... I found a bar of it at a shop I go to that's a shop for NHS/police/food manufacturer workers and there's always weird and wonderful things in there and this was in there and I picked it up thinking it looked exciting it had bits of pretzel and toffee in it I've never found it since or seen it anywhere else!

Some branches of Sainsbury’s sell it & Selfridges do.

FAQs · 03/12/2019 18:10

I saw this in a very expensive farm shop and looked at it but agree with others I was put off by the naff branding. Maybe I shouldn’t judge a chocolate by its cover and try it.

ECMOR · 03/12/2019 18:10

Before I even clicked on the thread I knew this would be about Tony's! Grin

sockittome123 · 03/12/2019 18:11

Another one who predicted it Grin

I keep seeing it and wanting it but it's so bloody expensive, and I have a severe nut allergy so I'm pretty paranoid. Any fellow nut allergy sufferers out there who've eaten it and survived?

katy1213 · 03/12/2019 18:15

I tried the milk one too and I wasn't keen. I mean, I forced it down - but I wouldn't buy it again!

nameymcnamechangeagain · 03/12/2019 18:18

I love the Normal milk chocolate one, forgot about it actually! Will have to get some more! It’s my new favourite

jenniuol · 03/12/2019 18:20

I also wasn’t keen - definitely wouldn’t buy again. I don’t mind the cost if it’s yummy and being fair trade etc was a massive plus but I just wasn’t blown away at all.

bluesky · 03/12/2019 18:22

This cornish chocolate is my current favourite, in particular the milk choc with sea salt, but tbh they are all delicious

www.kernowchocolate.co.uk/chocolate/chocolate-bars/

they make the chocolate for National Trust, Eden Project and lots of other places too

TheLittleBrownFox · 03/12/2019 20:01

Second taste of it today. Preferred it today Hmm I had to unwrap the whole bugger to see what everybody was on about with the big piece Grin

I've had two portions and that's still some left. That's better than a bar of dairy milk does Blush

HowlsMovingBungalow · 03/12/2019 20:04

Is the Cornish stuff fairtrade? I do like Willies (fnar fnar) for his posh dark chocolate but unsure if he is as fair trade as Tony's ...

SnugglySnerd · 03/12/2019 20:08

Dh bought the milk one a few weeks ago and I thought it had that cheap advent calendar taste but he liked it. In the interests of trying so.e other flavours I might get him couple of bars for Christmas.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/12/2019 21:18

That's a plan Snuggly
scientific taste test and supporting slave free chocolate. win win.

I've not tried this yet as it's horrendously expensive. But I do like Divine chocolate which is fair trade and appears to do a lot for impoverished farmers, and support women in developing countries.

EssentialHummus · 03/12/2019 21:26

I knew it would be Tony’s! I really really want it to be Chocoloney, though. The “L” drives me nuts.

RaynaJaymes · 03/12/2019 21:33

EssentialHummus I always read it that way

ShivD · 04/12/2019 07:42

Divine is actually more expensive, the bars is just smaller Wink

Trewser · 04/12/2019 08:11

Divine is nicer IMVHO

joystir59 · 04/12/2019 08:14

How much is it for 100g?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/12/2019 08:24

If you buy a big bar and split it, it's £1.94/100g

OP posts:
Trewser · 04/12/2019 08:30

The Divine 45% milk is amazing but £££, i think about 2.40 for 90g

GloGirl · 04/12/2019 08:32

Ooh I am excited! I didn't realise exactly what was missing since Cadburys tasted so bad - but you're right it's the thick indulgence not the faux thin snaps you get with modern pish chocolate. I have some in my supermarket trolley ready for my next delivery! Merry Christmas to me! Xmas Grin

dontgobaconmyheart · 04/12/2019 10:41

Ah I really, didn't think it was anything special, for the price especially-plus the bars are annoyingly chunky and a pain to bite (I have a problem with my jaw so appreciate this is probably just me Grin). Our local M&S food to go sells it though, as do Sainsbury's, last time I went in they had practically every flavour.
