I've actually found chocolate that I really like.

I've found chocolate that tastes like chocolate. Not posh bars of thin stuff that are really unsatisfying and not things like Cadbury's that now have a waxy after finish , but properly chunky chocolate that tastes like it used to.

It's called Tony's chocolonely. Not sure about the name! But it's properly wrapped in paper and foil, doesn't seem to contain anything it shouldn't and it supports a campaign to end slavery in chocolate. Which is a pretty bloody good aim

I had the chocolate caramel sea salt and it was almost perfect. ( I just wish it could break into even chunks, rather than the creative design it has) I wish I'd bought some other flavours, but next time I'm in town I'll buy a different flavour for comparison.

It's got palm oil in which I try to avoid.

Trewser · 02/12/2019 13:39

I didn't like it at all Sad

Doggyfeet · 02/12/2019 13:40

I thought it would be this, really tasty chocolate.

You've reminded me OYBBK, that is the very chocolate bar I have stashed in my cleaning materials cupboard. I had started it (I only have a bit at a time) but DS wasn't well and in the resultant trauma I had clean forgotten my concealed chocolate cache!

(Even better, it was on offer in Sainsbury's so I bought two bars, now hidden from prying male eyes by J cloths and wipes. Huzzah!)

hanahsaunt · 02/12/2019 13:43

Sounds like it is worth trying - another here who had been put off by the packaging (though a lack of symmetrical shapes may be disturbing). The one to avoid is Monty Bojangles - I am not sure it should even be labelled as chocolate given that it contains no cocoa solids.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/12/2019 13:47

Mine doesn't have any palm oil in it at all. I posted a pic of the ingredients.
I've had a look and lots of websites say that it is palm oil free.

Someone else here recommended this so my husband got a bar for my birthday - 6 bloody euro!! Going up to Sainsbury's in Northern Ireland where I know it's cheaper. I like it because I can't eat the whole thing in one setting which is unusual for me!

BloodyCats · 02/12/2019 14:11

I love it! I love the big chunks of salt too.

Ohffs66 · 02/12/2019 14:14

They currently have a chai turmeric white chocolate one which sounds disgusting but is actually incredible. Sadly you can only get it in the Netherlands. I have seriously considered doing a round trip to Schiphol duty free just to stock up! The raspberry popping candy one is amazing but sadly you can't get that here either!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/12/2019 14:18

Maybe we need a campaign for equal access to all the range? Grin

Yikes
Look at this

Collision · 02/12/2019 14:24

The whole range is on Amazon.

Orangecake123 · 02/12/2019 14:32

This is the documentary he made.

I will give this chocolate a go when I go back home.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/12/2019 14:44

That's dangerous Collision! Now I'm torn between wanting to taste them all and the idea that buying slave free chocolate from amazon might be a bit of an oxymoron.

Sorry about that Kitten 🤣🤣

PurplePuffinPicker · 02/12/2019 15:09

I love this! Wish the pieces were regular though. The sea salt one is delicious. I want to try the pretzel one but have a slab of Aldi's pretzel one to work through first.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 02/12/2019 15:13

The pieces aren't equal sizes in Chocolonely bars - it is to represent the unfairness of slavery.

TheStaleBiscuitofDoom · 02/12/2019 15:15

I liked the salted caramel bar but the plain milk chocolate tasted like cheap advent calendar chocolate. I was very disappointed.

SpamChaudFroid · 02/12/2019 15:25

I'm partial to a bit of Tony - I like the salted caramel like you've got there in your OP. The one with bits of nougat and nuts is nice too - a blatant rip-off of Toblerone but who cares Grin

DontCallMeShitley · 02/12/2019 15:34

It's got palm oil in which I try to avoid.

No it doesn't. I checked before I bought my first bar.

I don't care about the hideous wrapping, but not keen on the uneven pieces although when you get the big one in the middle you don't have to share it.

FlaviaAlbia · 02/12/2019 15:36

Ooh, I saw this in Sainsbury's but didn't buy it as I thought it was a bit pricey. Slavery and palm oil free would be worth the extra cost though.

Trewser · 02/12/2019 16:04

I like the packaging. I ony tried the milk chocolate and it was soapy and gross. Maybe I'll try a different flavour. The Lindt 40 percent is yum

orangeteal · 02/12/2019 16:15

Love Tony's, wish it had normal squares though.

Doggodogington · 02/12/2019 16:17

Not sure I can eat chocolate with the name colon in it Wink

ursuslemonade · 02/12/2019 16:21

Ha knew what your post was about.
I think it's on offer in waitrose ( it was on Thursday for £2.75)
Also a big fan but I have to abandon it for a while as I'm prediabetic...Wish it had less sugar in it....
