Only 7 point lead for Boris in latest poll. Still all to play for.
Boris on Marr tomorrow morning.

Yappy12 · 01/12/2019 08:13

Who's watching Marr today to see Boris? Tipped to get a big audience, much bigger than other weeks.

Fl1mF1am · 01/12/2019 08:16

People don’t have to vote labour though.Confused I don’t get this two main party or nothing thing if both the main two are shite. Do people really think Lib Dem would do a worse job than either of the other two?

Yappy12 · 01/12/2019 08:29

Yes. LD want to revoke A50 and go against the will of the people. They'll put 2 fingers up to Democracy. We voted out.

chomalungma · 01/12/2019 08:37

All newly elected Tory MP's, including ones re-elected, have been read the riot act by Tory Central Office and one condition of them being adopted as a candidate, on Boris's orders, was that they must all vote for his deal

Bless...with a narrow majority, backbenchers suddenly find they have a lot of power, they look at their results in their constituency and can find that what they told Central Office isn't what they think is best to do.

Fl1mF1am · 01/12/2019 08:39

But labour will be calling another referendum.

chomalungma · 01/12/2019 08:40

Yes. LD want to revoke A50 and go against the will of the people. They'll put 2 fingers up to Democracy

But of course, were they to win, then they would have a democratic mandate to do what they said in their manifesto which is to implement their version of Brexit, even if a majority of people don't want their version

Just as if the Tories win, then they would have a democratic mandate to do what they said in their manifesto, which is to implement their version of Brexit, even if a majority of people don't want their version.

Because that's democracy

MajesticWhine · 01/12/2019 09:13

Ah was just going to say the same @chomalungma - an election promise by it's very nature cannot be undemocratic.

Pan2 · 01/12/2019 09:25

The will of the people has massively changed in 3 and a half years, knowing now what load of bullshit and illegality was practiced by the leave section.

Pan2 · 01/12/2019 09:27

If leave people are so sure about the will of the people argument they would have nothing to fear from a 2nd ref.

Yappy12 · 01/12/2019 10:41

We don't need a second referendum. We've had one. You don't re-run an election just because you don't like the result do you?

OP posts:
PigletJohn · 01/12/2019 10:48

Yappy

Actually, we already had a second referendum, in 2016.

Tell me again how we shouldn't have had it.

Fl1mF1am · 01/12/2019 10:49

The other referendum was based on lies. We now now the truth. Frankly I’m amazed the last one has been allowed to stand. Was never democracy.

AlexaShutUp · 01/12/2019 10:49

I imagine that the Tories have lost quite a few supporters as a result of his comments on single mothers and working class men. When challenged about these on the radio, he claimed that the remarks had been taken out of context, so I read the whole of the original article and found it to be even worse than I expected. Dripping with misogyny and class prejudice. Beats me how anyone can vote for him now.

Snowjive2 · 01/12/2019 10:51

OK, Yappy12, your copying and posting Daily Fail comments was funny for a while but enough already.

53rdWay · 01/12/2019 11:26

I saw Johnson on Marr and he was awful. Vague, blustery, outright lying. If Labour had a decent leader they’d be wiping the floor with him at this point.

He claimed that Parliament blocked his Queen’s Speech. That’s not true, Parliament passed it. Then Parliament passed first reading of his Brexit bill - and HE pulled it to throw an election because Parliament wanted more than 3 days to scrutinise it. But oh yes it’s Parliament’s fault, it’s Labour’s fault, nothing’s ever up to him.

Auberjean · 01/12/2019 11:37

PigletJohn 😄😄😄😄

Pan2 · 01/12/2019 13:14

Er.....You DO have 're elections and this is our 2nd GE since 2016. It's quite anti democratic to be found to have cheated on a massive scale once and then insist the result has to stand years later. We don't live in a backward autocracy yet.

Venger · 01/12/2019 13:46

We voted out

"We" voted the Conservatives into power (propped up by the DUP) in 2016. By your logic should we not now have another vote just in case we've changed our minds and want to try a different direction? I think you're confused about how democracy works.

LensGlans · 01/12/2019 17:04

The Lib Dems think that men are women, @Fl1mF1am.

Yappy12 · 01/12/2019 17:13

@53rdWay

Parliament has blocked both May's and Boris's Brexits. We'd be out now if MP's had done the right thing.

OP posts:
53rdWay · 01/12/2019 17:22

Parliament has blocked both May's and Boris's Brexits.

No they haven't, that's just not true. May's was voted down. Boris's 'oven-ready' one PASSED its first reading - and then Boris pulled it to call the election. Maybe they would have blocked it later, but we'll never know because he pulled it.

noblegiraffe · 01/12/2019 17:30

You don't re-run an election just because you don't like the result do you?

Ask Johnson? He doesn’t seem to like the result of the 2017 one. We’re not supposed to have another one till 2022.

ClashCityRocker · 01/12/2019 17:43

That's it. If boris wanted to brexit he had a deal that passed parliament.

He could have had it done by now, but he threw his toys out the pram.

Topseyt · 01/12/2019 18:09

"Get Brexit Done" is a meaningless sound byte on a par with Theresa May's "Brexit means Brexit" bullshit. It is the cliché they have invented for Boris to spout forth.

I would be more than happy if the result of this election was another hung parliament. I couldn't give a shit if parliament continued to "frustrate Brexshit" as I am a remainer and don't want Brexshit. So as far as I am concerned a lot of the last parliament did represent me and others, for once.

chomalungma · 01/12/2019 19:44

Parliament has blocked both May's and Boris's Brexits

That's a lie.

Johnson himself voted against May's Brexit because he didn't think it was his kind of Brexit.

Parliament supported his withdrawal agreement at 2nd reading.
It also passed his Queen's Speech.

So you are lying.
