Only 7 point lead for Boris in latest poll. Still all to play for.
Boris on Marr tomorrow morning.

Straight outta Conservative HQ? Sounds like it. Bet she’s reeeeeaaaallly worried about anti-semitism too.

ohwheniknow · 30/11/2019 22:12

say he's a liar and untrustworthy.

Which is true. What's your objection?

Pilipilihoho · 30/11/2019 22:13

It's clear it's going to be a hung parliament, and has been since the polls closed. Given the SNP and LibDems recent comments, it's highly likely we'll get Corbyn for Christmas.

A Marxist at the helm of an institutionally antisemitic party (and people on here twat on about "evil Tories" Confused) - it'll be like going back to the 30s...

Pixxie7 · 30/11/2019 22:15

Same here never been asked or know anyone who has.

tangledyarn · 30/11/2019 22:30

I'd say the polls were even less accurate this time than previously just because there are a lot of very undecided voters in marginals. Have been doing a lot of canvassing and a lot of people seem genuinely undecided.

BackforGood · 30/11/2019 23:00

I haven't made my mind up yet. I think I've settled on the "least bad" then I find out something else and think I just can't bring myself to vote to them either.
I'm not the only one in my house even, let alone in our constituency or the country, I don't think.

Yappy12 · 30/11/2019 23:08

Another couple of polls with the Tory lead at 9 and 10%. Still enough for a small Tory majority.

At a guess I think we'll end up with a small Bris majority of about 20. Enough to get Brexit done.

OP posts:
53rdWay · 30/11/2019 23:23

We will still be ‘getting Brexit done’ for the next 15 years. Both Tories and Labour are being wildly, dishonestly optimistic about what they’re promising they can do in a few short months.

raskolnikova · 30/11/2019 23:29

Enough to get Brexit done.

What do you mean by 'get Brexit done'?

SeaWitchly · 30/11/2019 23:34

I am terrified that the Tories get in again and people like LauraBradshaw will be running the country. Voting Labour is the only way to rid ourselves of their cruelty and deception.

Hereismyreply · 30/11/2019 23:53

Polls that just show the percentages of people planning to vote for each party tell us very little because what is crucial in our first past the post system is where increases or decreases are taking place, eg if an MP who already has a large majority gets an even higher percentage share of the vote, that has no impact on the election result. Conversely, a tiny percentage increase could have a huge impact on the result if that increase takes place in marginal constituencies. Good article in yesterday's FT on this issue, explaining why the methodology inWednesday's YouGov poll, which predicted a substantial Conservative majority, may be more reliable.

Hereismyreply · 01/12/2019 00:00

Notable that every single November poll has Tories with a vote share of over 40%, whereas none of the polls have Labour anywhere near 40%. In some of them, Labour don't even make 30%!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 01/12/2019 00:17

@Yappy12 Brexit is a multistage process. Even if Tories win the majority, which my username shows I DO NOT want, there is still no guarantee that the deal Boris has agreed will pass through parliament. His MPs have voted against the whip before.

Let's say it passes, there will be a transition period till Dec 2020.

If we can't get everything done that needs to be done during that period then it can be extended til 2022. Given the last 3 years, do you really think this government will meet the 2020 deadline???

During the transition period, the UK has to follow most of EU law in (mostly) the same way as it does now as a Member State. However, it will no longer have representation and voting rights in the EU institutions when the EU makes decisions about how EU law should change. There are some exceptions to this continuation of EU law, which are set out in the Withdrawal Agreement itself.

So for up to 3 years we would still follow EU laws but have no say in them. We will also continue to contribute to the EU budget.

If by the end of the transition period we haven't negotiated a trade agreement we would leave with No Deal - as per Boris's Withdrawal agreement.

If by some miracle Government have managed to negotiate a trade agreement it will then need to be implemented and made to work which is a good few years work right there.

Anyone voting because they want to "Get Brexit Done" needs to be really clear that they understand what that means.

Yappy12 · 01/12/2019 00:27

All newly elected Tory MP's, including ones re-elected, have been read the riot act by Tory Central Office and one condition of them being adopted as a candidate, on Boris's orders, was that they must all vote for his deal. IT'S OVEN READY .

OP posts:
PigletJohn · 01/12/2019 01:07

I saw Boris's dad on the TV complaining that people were allowed to call the Prime Minister a liar.

Does he think it's supposed to be a secret?

Snowjive2 · 01/12/2019 01:13

Yappy12, loving your work. Perfect irony.

Yappy12 · 01/12/2019 01:27

@raskolinikova

Get a deal passed by Parliament so that revoking A50 is no longer possible. Just want out at any cost.

We're not on benefits and are higher rate taxpayers. We want Corbyn as PM because we give a shit about other people.

HeIenaDove · 01/12/2019 02:24

Why the fuck do we even still have the FPTP system

Fl1mF1am · 01/12/2019 03:50

Why are all these people voting for Con/ Lab?

Don’t get why they’re not going for Lib Dem or Green.

Pan2 · 01/12/2019 04:14

The BBC gave in to Tories because they are Tory. At least the news section is. Cameron saw to that.

A hung parliament with a 2nd ref would be a good outcome for the country.

Pan2 · 01/12/2019 04:19

Anyone who votes Tory needs to ensure they have oodles of money spare to pay for medical bills. Your measly BUPA premiums or employer schemes will not be covering you at all.

Pan2 · 01/12/2019 04:24

Yes, Get Brexit Done is utterly meaningless. It's a slogan designed to work on people's lack of knowledge on how things actually work.
And the Good Friday Agreement is being sacrificed as peace is worth a price to pay for grubby ugly spivs currently in govt.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 01/12/2019 07:58

@LauraBradshaw plenty of working people vote for Labour. It's not about wanting "free stuff" it's about us being fed up of seeing the most vulnerable in our society suffering. Disabled people who CANNOT work getting benefits cut. My son's school is not getting the funding it needs. Our local hospital is at breaking point. This cannot carry on.

I take little notice of polls. They are often skewed. I'm a Labour voter and have been on Yougov for years and they never ask me when it comes to election time.

My head is saying Conservatives will win, heart is still hoping for Labour.
