@Yappy12 Brexit is a multistage process. Even if Tories win the majority, which my username shows I DO NOT want, there is still no guarantee that the deal Boris has agreed will pass through parliament. His MPs have voted against the whip before.
Let's say it passes, there will be a transition period till Dec 2020.
If we can't get everything done that needs to be done during that period then it can be extended til 2022. Given the last 3 years, do you really think this government will meet the 2020 deadline???
During the transition period, the UK has to follow most of EU law in (mostly) the same way as it does now as a Member State. However, it will no longer have representation and voting rights in the EU institutions when the EU makes decisions about how EU law should change. There are some exceptions to this continuation of EU law, which are set out in the Withdrawal Agreement itself.
So for up to 3 years we would still follow EU laws but have no say in them. We will also continue to contribute to the EU budget.
If by the end of the transition period we haven't negotiated a trade agreement we would leave with No Deal - as per Boris's Withdrawal agreement.
If by some miracle Government have managed to negotiate a trade agreement it will then need to be implemented and made to work which is a good few years work right there.
Anyone voting because they want to "Get Brexit Done" needs to be really clear that they understand what that means.
