The members of the public who jumped him were amazingly brave.
And I feel for the police officer who had to make the call to shoot him.

PreseaCombatir · 29/11/2019 22:59

Yes, it must be horrendous to be in a position to have to make that call. Literal life changing decisions, that have to be made in a split second.
I hope he has some good people around him tonight.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 29/11/2019 23:07

@Dongdingdong - a ex police official on newsnight said the police had 20,000 suspects on file - this offender had been out of prison for a year but obviously known on a database for his fundamentalistism - how the hell do you police that amount of could be's?

It is a fucking scary world out there.

heartsonacake · 29/11/2019 23:07

How many more before someone says enough

Span1elsRock What a ridiculous comment. What on Earth is it even supposed to mean?

GabsAlot · 29/11/2019 23:07

Something wrong with out justice system that he was allowed out to do this again

@Madein1995 Don't beat yourself up, I think it's easy to feel scared. You just have to try & rationalise it & also remember the terrorists want you to be scared. I'm not ashamed to say I was nervous getting the tube to work the next day after 7/7 & clearly lots felt like that as it was pretty quiet. There is something very scary about sitting down for a coffee & getting stabbed to death for absolutely no reason. Particularly when the suspects are often known to the police but it's impossible to monitor them all.

Hmm

Enough what exactly?

BillHadersNewWife · 29/11/2019 23:19

That man with the fire extinguisher! There's no telling how many lives he saved.

AlexaAmbidextra · 29/11/2019 23:23

The anti terror police were kitted out with bullet proof vests and helmets and all had guns and are highly trained and had time to know what they were letting themselves in for.

LauraBradshaw. Their ballistic armour wouldn’t have prevented those police being blown to pieces if the terrorist’s suicide vest had been real and he had detonated it. Yes, they’re doing a job they’re being paid for but do you think they could ever be paid enough to lose their lives?

HoldNose · 29/11/2019 23:24

Or how many he has taken?

As per a PP, enough what? Explain yourself.

poltergust · 29/11/2019 23:31

I can't get over the bravery shown by those civilians, chasing him down with random objects, knowing he had two knives and what they suspected to be a bomb.

And the focus and coordination of the emergency services in that chaos.

littlealexhorne · 29/11/2019 23:34

I can't even imagine seeing someone with a knife (or multiple) and what they will have thought was a bomb vest and running towards that rather than away. Such strong people and total heroes.

As for people complaining about being later home or whatever? I get its a pain but surely things like this put that into perspective? At least two people will never be able to go home to their families again. Families will have lost a loved one forever. There could be children who've lost a parent. Not to mention others at the scene, particuarly the members of the public who stepped in and the police, whose mental health could likely to be really badly affected by this, with potential PTSD. An hour of your day just doesn't compare to the rest of somebody's life.

Was that blood spattered all up the side of a building before they shot him?

Amazing that so many people’s reaction was to help even if it meant them possibly being injured or worse. There’s more good out there than bad.

PenelopeFlintstone · 29/11/2019 23:44

Enough what exactly?
Enough of letting them out of jail with tags on?

ploopsie · 29/11/2019 23:45

I think what @HoldNose is referring to but not saying is that some reports are saying some of the people who tackled him were also ex offenders. Something to do with a conference.

Amibeingnaive · 29/11/2019 23:47

I am continually humbled by those who run towards danger rather than away from it.

I hope in a similar situation I would be so brave, but I imagine I'd just freeze.

And then there are those who bitch about a slightly longer commute arising... Hmm

Justaboy · 29/11/2019 23:47

Maybe it becase their Londoners, and they love london town?.

The same breed that stood up to Hitler and his bombs?

Brave people one and all. I salute you!:)

BeverlyGoldbergsHairAndJumpers · 29/11/2019 23:58

What recognition do these heroes get? Do they literally get a medal?
They are just normal people on their way home and they have jumped in top of a terrorist to save the lives of strangers. It’s truly amazing.

Dahlietta · 30/11/2019 00:00

some of the people who tackled him were also ex offenders.

It's a fascinating twist, isn't it? Nothing's ever black and white.

JaimeBronde · 30/11/2019 00:04

The people & the police who tackled the attacker are so brave.
My DSis & DNephew were at the Ariana Grande Concert in Manchester when the bomb went off & saw things that no one should never ever see.
Until that happened I was shocked & had sympathy for the poor victims.
Now I'm furious.
You never think a loved one would get caught up in a terrorist attack.
I & my family were absolutely floored by the murders committed at the AG concert (but relieved as DSis & DN were ok.) Disbelief & shock has led to anger & personally I would be happy to 'sort out' the Idiot Squad as we call Daesh.
It's personal now & those fucking stupid barbaric idiots need putting down.
