How often do you get takeaway / eat out?

In the run up to christmas we've got a takeaway / meal out planned most Saturdays. We don't normally do it that often, normally once or twice a month. How often do you get takeaway or eat out?

Oh and I'm vvv jealous of those with Lebanese, Mexican, Iraqi restaurants locally etc that deliver. We have Dominos and Indian that deliver to our village, that's it!

MustardScreams · 30/11/2019 07:43

I take dd out for dinner (Indy pizza place/cafe etc) once a week.

I eat higher end once a week. Used to chef in Michelin kitchens, so restaurants are my second home and I miss them!

ukgift2016 · 30/11/2019 07:44

Once a week takeaway and usually once a week for eat out.

Rarely do takeaways - maybe chip shop once every couple of months. But do have lunch out whenever we are in town - about once a fortnight.

maddiemookins16mum · 30/11/2019 07:53

We rarely eat out, probably half a dozen times a year.
We do however get a Takeaway probably twice a month on average.

MrsPear · 30/11/2019 07:58

H has been away so only had take away tea at football.

Not sure what it says about my cooking

Roussette · 30/11/2019 08:01

I think threads like this should be split between those that live in towns and have choice and those that don't! No deliveries here.

Takeaways - perhaps once a year. Over one hour round trip to collect an indian. Fish and chips 45 mins round trip.

Eating out - only if meeting friends and most of the time only lunch.

Prefer my own cooking to be honest. There is nothing worse than a disappointing meal out and paying a fortune and realising I could cook it better.

So I cook in. If we were on the doorstep of lebanese, moroccan, thai food, yes would have lots of takeaways.

leckford · 30/11/2019 08:03

Never have takeaways, don’t trust what is in them. Go out to the nice pubs and restaurants around here about once a week.

aggitatedstate · 30/11/2019 08:11

Eat out 3 times a week and takeaway at least once a week.

weegiemum · 30/11/2019 08:14

We usually get a takeaway on Friday or Saturday night. Eat out much less, but this week we were out for family meal for dd2's 16th Birthday (and how old do I feel .......?!).

However, if we are trying to save a bit of cash, the takeaways are first on the list to go. Replaced by freezer pizzas!

DustyMaiden · 30/11/2019 08:18

Takeaway very rarely, eat out 2/3 times per week, more when away from home.

RaininSummer · 30/11/2019 08:26

Takeaways never really, about 2 in ten years. Eating out, cheap Spoons type things every 2 to 3 weeks as my craft group meets in the pub. Anything else is birthdays only generally.

soulrunner · 30/11/2019 08:27

I buy at least one coffee and lunch every weekday as does DH. We probably get one or two deliveries ( have Deliveroo so can get whatever you want) and then eat out twice or three times a week- usually Saturday dinner and Sunday lunch and dinner.

Shadowboy · 30/11/2019 08:28

Takeaway once a month- usually the Friday or Saturday after payday. Eat out for celebrations- maybe once a month?

Tempjob · 30/11/2019 08:34

We never get take aways.

Eating out: probably once or twice a week we'll order toast/coffees/ice cream at the local cafe. We may have McDonalds once a fortnight. We also have date night on Wednesdays which may include pizza :-)

WalkAwaySugarbear · 30/11/2019 08:43

Very rare. We cut right back when we wanted to save hard and now it just seems a waste of money.

AuntieMarys · 30/11/2019 08:46

arabella that's depressing. Is it a money thing for him?

FashionFoodLaughs · 30/11/2019 08:48

Takeaway about once every 3 months. Eating out (usually brunch or lunch in a pub) about every 2 weeks. All that seems to be changing this December as have so many things booked in that all seem to be food oriented!

Megan2018 · 30/11/2019 08:49

Takeaway almost never because we are rural. But we get easy supermarket meals at least once a week instead. If we are in town then get the odd McD’s.
Eating out, about once a month now as a couple as we have a newborn. But I have lunch out with friends most weeks.

Nuttyaboutnutella · 30/11/2019 09:05

Not very often. We either go out or have a takeaway every 3-ish months when my parents babysit the kids. Haven't eaten out in ages as we've had so much going on at the weekends (house renovations) and they're only 2 & 6m so won't give them takeaway. we might start eating out now and again as they get older.

Plus, we enjoy cooking and I prefer homemade in general. I hate dominoes as it's just greasy stodge, MUCH prefer the fresh pizzas DP makes.

DP takes lunch most days but will buy something occasionally. I'm on maternity leave/about to be a SAHM so have lunch at home.

If we can't be bothered, I'd prefer frozen fish and chips, those packets of filled pasta with pesto, or a cheese board with fresh bread/olives/antipasti.

666onmyhead · 30/11/2019 09:07

We collect one maybe once in two or three months, no one delivers out to where we live in country side . We have a place in a city too, but forget we can get takeout easily there! I've never had a deliveroo /just eat/uber ever ! But now you've reminded me I might give it a whirl on my next city stay !
