How often do you get takeaway / eat out?

In the run up to christmas we've got a takeaway / meal out planned most Saturdays. We don't normally do it that often, normally once or twice a month. How often do you get takeaway or eat out?

once a week. plus chippy chips maybe once a week for restricted eater.

camelandsushi · 26/11/2019 10:44

@MiniTheMinx you choose your meals and then the fresh ingredients arrive in a box with the recipe to follow.

AgeLikeWine · 26/11/2019 10:49

Once a week. It’s our Friday night treat. Sometimes Indian, sometimes Lebanese, sometimes fish & chips with a bottle of champagne if it’s been a really crap week Grin.

camelandsushi · 26/11/2019 10:53

@AgeLikeWine Grinchippy and champers 👏

MiniTheMinx · 26/11/2019 11:01

AgeLikeWine I'll be round Friday Grin I love Lebanese food.

Thank you camelandsushi, my eldest son suggested ordering boxes with recipes, perhaps this is what he meant. I'll look into it. I'm very bored with cooking the same meals because I'm not very creative, this might work.

camelandsushi · 26/11/2019 11:04

@MiniTheMinx they have a really good range to choose from and we pay £35 for 4 meals for 2 people a week. I have a 5 year old who there is usually for also :)

Pilot12 · 26/11/2019 11:08

We eat out once a week, we take MIL out for lunch every Saturday. We will also go out for lunch or order a takeaway if it's somebody's birthday. If we have visitors we might suggest lunch out if neither of us can be bothered to cook (the person doing the cooking gets stuck in the kitchen and misses out of the conversation).

Usually eat out or have takeaway twice a week normally over the weekend- less in the summer as we bbq a lot

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 26/11/2019 11:35

Me and dh have take away once a week when the dc are in bed normally a curry but current favourite is fish, chips and a bottle of champagne.

Me and the dc eat our for lunch twice a week after swimming, baby club

Me and dh go for a meal out together while mil babysits, 2 times a month

Me and dh also go out with friends alone when the opportunity arises, this time of year meals out are non stop

MotherWol · 26/11/2019 11:59

Takeaways are very rare - if I'm feeling lazy I'll just have something on toast for dinner rather than shell out for a takeaway. But we have lunch out most weekends, and if I've not been organised enough to make a packed lunch I'll get a sandwich when I'm at work. Dinners out maybe a couple of times a year, when we have a babysitter!

Cheeseywish · 26/11/2019 12:21

Used to be 3/4 takeaways or meals out per week! But since gaining a dress size (I don’t exercise since 18 month old DS came along) I’m on a diet but still have 1 or 2 takeaways/meals out per week. When I meet with friends it’s always for dinner or a takeaway! My socialising always revolves around food! I’m happy to be back in my size 10 clothes again though.

NeverGotMyPuppy · 26/11/2019 12:38

Fish and chips maybe 4 times a year. Never anything else. Eat out fairly rarely now we have a one year old tho we did on holiday a lot. DH gets a meal deal or similar every day.

sleepingdogssnore · 26/11/2019 12:57

Eat out very rarely. Even if do usually one of our parents paying for a special occasion . We did go out for my birthday to Pizza express with our Dc.

We have a takeaway / drive thru every Friday, it's chip based. I prefer Chinese or Indian, but too expensive alas.

I very rarely buy food out or even coffee, just because of the cost. I feel so bad to pay £14 for a sandwich out for me and DC when I could do it for so much less at home. It's a shame as it's a nice experience. We just don't have the money.

TerpsichoreanMuse · 26/11/2019 18:06

Never a takeaway as I don't get the point. Only really eat out to get out of the house and socialise with DH, if I'm at home I'd rather eat better quality food that I cook.

Generally eat out 3-4 times a week, 2-3 dinners and a lunch. DH eats lunch out every day. Neither of us eat breakfast.

Ithinkwerealonenowtiffany · 26/11/2019 18:17

Never buy breakfast nor lunch out. Weekly tea thiugh as im working till 4:30 then puck up DD to take her to football training 60 kins away. Training for 2 hours then 60 mins home. Mostly its McDonalds or a tesco sandwich.

But tonight im eating chips and sausage in the car as DS is in training and i was working till 4:3o, drove to school for parents evening and picked up DS.

charm8ed · 26/11/2019 18:24

I normally eat or have a takeaway out twice at a weekend, one lunch and one dinner. Something like a tastecard chain restaurant lunch out and then a takeaway on the other day. In the week normally I’ll eat out once. Last week it was a dinner with a friend, this week it will be two dinners each with a different friend. I’m used to buy lots of coffees out but have completely stopped that now and may buy a hot chocolate every couple of weeks.

MissCalamity · 26/11/2019 18:27

Probably a takeaway twice a month, eating out nearer every two months or so.

InsertFunnyUsername · 26/11/2019 19:02

Takeaway on Friday and we eat out on a Saturday.

Koloh · 26/11/2019 19:17

Most meals atm, but I'm in NY and groceries are sooooo expensive. You wouldn't believe it. After about the first week you just give up and go to a restaurant or deli. It's just not worth cooking. I bought some cabbage, bacon, and canned tomatoes the other day and it cost me thirty fucking dollars.

In England, once or twice a week.

DramaAlpaca · 26/11/2019 19:19

Once or twice a month.

ginghamstarfish · 26/11/2019 19:22

Takeaway never, eat out when we have to, that is when visiting family who insist on it (at our expense that is!). Otherwise hate it. I can always make something much better for far less.

MikeUniformMike · 26/11/2019 19:23

Very rarely. A few times a year. Twice this year so far.

GrumpyHoonMain · 26/11/2019 19:24

We don’t buy takeaways, but we probably do eat out for lunch / have a jacket potato dinner at Costco once a week.

newdeer · 26/11/2019 19:26

Far too often. We rarely have takeaways (about once every two to three months) but we eat out in restaurants way too often. Either to celebrate something, or because DC are performing somewhere away from home and we've gone to see them and need to eat. Or. more and more, I have just hit the wall of being so bored of cooking after 18 years of daily food prep. But the expense is silly. It embarasses me that we spend so much on eating out. I'd rather spend it on other things.

ScreamingValenta · 26/11/2019 19:27

Takeaway - only on holiday (we go self-catering) or occasionally with guests. I think we've had three takeaways this year. I'm not a huge fan of them, really - they're always a bit of an anti-climax.

Eating out - again, on holiday and for birthdays/occasions. About six times a year, but not spread out evenly. A mixture of independent restaurants and pubs - we're not keen on chains/fast food.
