Tesco delivery saver Xmas slots open up at midnight tonight for those with delivery saver passes. Anyone staying up to get one?

I didn’t think they ever delivered on the 24th anyway?
I guess it’s supply and demand, it’s like the lottery of getting Glastonbury tickets, more demand than availability, I doubt it’s worded you are guaranteed a slot with a delivery saver. I’m a midweek saver and chose to pay to get the 23rd. It’s hectic every year and the system always crashes, that’s why it’s always so late at night, they can’t tick such an outage in the day, it would be out even longer
They release the rest of the slots for the general public around the 30th I think, good luck to those that missed out

footballmum · 27/11/2019 07:11

I went on this morning and all slots on the 23rd were booked. Didn’t really bother me so I booked a slot for the 22nd. However what’s really pissed me off is that most of the Christmas stuff is already “unavailable”. That includes the goose fat roasties, lots of the Christmas pre-prepared veg and the fresh deserts! So what’s the point?!

I’ve cancelled my slot, will stock up on the non-perishables in the weeks leading up to Christmas and go out and do a shop for the fresh stuff on the 23rd.

I’m convinced Tesco are deliberately trying to drive people back into stores. There has been more and more unavailable stock online, then they introduced their delivery saver+ which only rewards in store shopping and now this! I shall be cancelling my delivery saver when it is due for renewal and start doing scan and shop at Asda.

EggysMom · 27/11/2019 07:22

I don't use the delivery for Christmas foods anyway - I'd rather go into store and pick those for myself. Our delivery will consist of bottles and crisps Grin with maybe some random normal items like baked beans, butter, washing powder.

PrettyPurse · 27/11/2019 07:24

@footballmum - it's out of stock now, but nearer the date it might not be.

footballmum · 27/11/2019 07:29

Pretty I thought that last year and they never were. So I ended up having an online shop and still having to do an in store shop Angry

Meckity1 · 27/11/2019 09:15

@footballmum I was thinking that they are trying to get people back into the stores. I know that they don't make much margin on deliveries. The cost of the delivery saver from one year to the next has doubled, iirc.

I don't think they make much profit on me, even with the delivery saver. I'm usually getting @ £50 and a lot of it will be stocking up on the special offers. I practically never buy branded and when I do I wait for the deals.

I think it will be interesting to see how the Clubcard Plus goes. I have subscribed, and I can make back the £7.99 per month if I am careful, but I have to watch myself for impulse buys. I think I will find it harder to get the benefit from that than the delivery saver.

It's only unavailable just now. A lot of their Christmas stuff isnt available til December. Itll be back in stock

namechangenumber2 · 27/11/2019 09:26

So this is the first time I've booked a delivery so far in advance, I have a question!

Does that mean I can't do another delivery in the meantime? I can't see the option to book another delivery, only move edit the time of my Christmas slot!

Meckity1 · 27/11/2019 09:28

@namechangenumber2 When you sign in and the page shows 'your order is place, show changes' there should be a small box around the top right hand corner that shows 'book another slot'.

I've got around three going on.

namechangenumber2 · 27/11/2019 09:30

Ah great thanks @Meckity1 !

Fraggle45 · 27/11/2019 09:31

It's worth booking your slot for the week before too as they are often harder to get

I've got one for Friday 20th and when they come out I'll get thurs 27th too For when we all want beans in toast and salad etc 🤣

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 27/11/2019 09:33

Namechange you can have as many as you want but once a day.

I have one on the 14th active to go to family where we will be for a couple of days (just a small one with a few nice treat bits) and then one on each day from the 20th to 23rd until I can speak to my mum at some point today and find out which we are keeping and then release the others

Travis1 · 27/11/2019 12:59

I booked my slot with 2 bottles of gin Gin

doritosdip · 27/11/2019 15:08

Will be booking at post Xmas delivery for when I have more space in my fridge and a pre-NY delivery after that.

SamBeckett · 27/11/2019 16:16

I woke up at 2am ( unplanned but glad ) I got the slot I wanted on 21st Grin
Just beer on my list for now 🍺

chocolateisavegetable · 27/11/2019 16:22

All slots gone for 22nd or 23rd (they don't deliver on the 24th) and half the slots for the 21st have gone! I was very lucky to get a slot for the 23rd with no issues. I hope those of you who were suffering with the technical issues last night eventually managed to get a slot.

Cloverbeauty · 27/11/2019 20:59

Someone shoot me..

I just added tons of food to my basket, you know, being prepared and all that..

Had I already selected my prebooked time slot to amend it? No. Of course I hadn't. Angry

I'm not doing Christmas anymore. Grin

doritosdip · 27/11/2019 21:51

When the other slots go on general release (30th?) I think you could see some extra slots appear. If you didn't get a slot you liked, I'd try again and boycott them forever if a repeat of last night happened

DinosApple · 27/11/2019 22:22

Booked mine at 8am and the latest I could get mine was 8pm on Sat 21st.

Click and collect is fine though so I'll get another for the 23rd early!

Karwomannghia · 27/11/2019 22:37

Got mine this morning but the whisky and mince pies I added were only on offer til 9th December so I had to keep changing things! Settled for a turkey and smoked salmon in the end. Got Sunday 22nd 9 am. Just checked and all gone now for that day.

shinynewapple · 29/11/2019 11:24

Surely the availability of delivery slots depends on where you live?

I don't have delivery pass and was waiting for 30th November when I was told slots available.

Christmas delivery story from Tesco about 10 years ago - started unpacking and putting my shopping away and realised they had forgotten the turkey!!! I phoned the helpline and the guy was mortified; got a £25 gift voucher to apologise and turkey from the co-op round the corner Grin

f00k · 29/11/2019 13:19

Well I'm tempted to cancel my delivery for the 23rd now. For the second time since going bagless my Tesco shopping has been delivered with what smells like fabric conditioner all over the crate. 14 items refunded today which will mean going shopping later to replace them. Nearly all the fruit & veg I ordered. Full of cold right now so I wanted to avoid shopping in store. Don't want to go shopping on Christmas Eve to sort out their crap delivery if this is how it'll be.

Feeling ill and sorry for myself

thenightsky · 29/11/2019 15:38

Well, after the fiasco of not getting a slot at midnight the other night, I'm staying up again tonight to try again.

DH has told me not to worry about it though. Said he'll just go with a list very early in the morning of 24th, leaving me to have a lie in. His logic is that if anything is missing, he can visit other shops to fill in the gaps, ie; Lidl, Aldi, Co-op, Asda etc.

Ginkypig · 29/11/2019 19:11

What did Tesco say about your delivery pass night?

Your dh is not wrong it's likely that going in the morning he will get everything he needs and might have to pop to another shop but only if he has a specific brand or item that he doesn't want to compromise on.

MsSquiz · 29/11/2019 19:44

I got an email through earlier apologising for the mess of the other night/not getting a Christmas slot and giving me £10 off my next shop.

Not sure how, since I got the slot I wanted on the 23rd... but I won't complain

Has anyone else had the same through?
