Anyone else got this horrendous cough and cold?

I’ve had it since Thursday. Coughing so hard I am urging, lungs feel like they’re being squeezed and I can’t smell a thing. I also feel like I’ve been hit by a bus.

Apparently loads of people have this awful virus at the moment. Is anyone else here suffering too and can share a moan, tea and sympathy?

My elderly DM was ill in December with these symptoms and was poorly for weeks. She found it hard to cope with how ill she felt and she described at the time as feeling different to how other bouts of flu or viruses had been.

If COVID was around in any extent last year it managed to avoid being detected in hospitals, care homes, schools, prisons, the GP swabbing scheme and the respiratory centres in the surveillance testing. There’s no evidence of any coronavirus, let alone the novel one circulating widely before January.

Well yes, they couldn't detect it then?

I had bad stomach pain early march, then a fair fever and slept 18 hours in a day then 14. Cough ever since and post-exercise, notable and sometimes scary trouble breathing for 0-4 days after exercise. Also live 1,5km from one of hte first confirmed cases where I live, a teacher who came back from a N Italy sky resort that turned out to be highly live for Corona.

But I can't get an antibody test and they aren't reliable anyway .... they turn up negative even for people who've definitely had it confirmed sometimes :( (ex - MIL's neighbour)

Ah, I mentioned this thread on another Zombie thread yesterday, and here it is!

I actually had the worst cough of my life last November. I remember because I had to take time off work and go to the doctors, which is unheard of for me. Obviously I'm now wondering if I actually had it then.

It's an interesting thread and I don't doubt some people had COVID before we were aware of it ,but I had an awful virus two years ago obviously it can't have been COVID but I had similar symptoms and would have been convinced I , had had it been last November .
