Anyone else got this horrendous cough and cold?

I’ve had it since Thursday. Coughing so hard I am urging, lungs feel like they’re being squeezed and I can’t smell a thing. I also feel like I’ve been hit by a bus.

Apparently loads of people have this awful virus at the moment. Is anyone else here suffering too and can share a moan, tea and sympathy?

I read the first 5 posts thinking er I think you’ve all got Covid symptoms why has no one mentioned????!!! Then looked at datesGrin definitely here before 2020!

museumum · 20/07/2020 22:06

This is really interesting. Especially the loss of taste one.

sanityisamyth · 20/07/2020 22:07

I'm sure I had it in the week before Christmas. Genuinely have never felt as ill. Was a proper flu but nothing I have ever had before.

@Redears3
I thought it was a joke at first til I saw the date!

Partner had a really bad "chest infection" around Xmas, coughing loads, lost all sense of taste and smell (Xmas dinner was ruined for him) but I remember him saying he wasn't snotty and that everything is so dry. Too much of a coincidence!

JamesNesbittsBrows · 20/07/2020 22:08

Gosh. I could hear my internal voice screaming!! What a different world then.

I did the same thing thing! Grin I was very confused until I spotted the dates (not before I got to the second page Blush )

It would be very interesting to find out if any of the posters had a Covid-19 link established.

DobbyLovesSocks · 20/07/2020 22:08

This was also me back late October and November. I had about a week and a half off work over the course of a couple months, horrendous cough and lethargy. Makes you wonder. And when I think of how many times I sat there in the drs surgery just hoping they would work out what was wrong with me
I'm still not right mind

Notmyrealname855 · 20/07/2020 22:09

Totally placemarking!

cariadlet · 20/07/2020 22:09

I read the first couple of posts thinking it was some kind of stupid "funny" thread where people were posting covid symptoms and feigning ignorance.

Couldn't believe it when I saw the dates. Zombie threads are usually annoying but this was a really good find.

betteliefsen · 20/07/2020 22:10

I was the same in February. I am prone to coughs anyway but in February the one I had was worse than when I had early pneumonia.

BitOfFun · 20/07/2020 22:11

Now isn't this interesting?

I suppose it would be key to see if there was any increase in deaths from respiratory illnesses during the same period?

Heatherjayne1972 · 20/07/2020 22:12

Yeah. I had loads of patients coming in around Christmas last year with ‘the worst cold I’ve ever had’
Covid was Definitely Here way way before anyone admitted to it

Kenworthington · 20/07/2020 22:13

Wow! Like a pp I thought this was some kind of weird joke too. Clearly this was Covid. Wasn’t it???

Eyetestingdurham123 · 20/07/2020 22:14

This happened to me too. In November. I had the worst cough I've ever had, my chest was awful, I felt like I couldn't breathe. I couldn't smell or taste anything and I had a temp on and off.

Now, as far as I'm aware lots of people have said they felt like this but there wasn't an increase in deaths. I'd be fascinated to have an anti-body test though.

Northernsoullover · 20/07/2020 22:17

I'd love to know if any of these posters had antibody tests? My son was really poorly in January and I was joking with him (in his healthier moments) and how is your coronavirus today hardy-ha-ha? How naive we were...

Miserablemoan · 20/07/2020 22:17

Wow! I also thought it was a joke.
The poster who suggested it felt inflammatory seems quite prescient too!

My kids and DH were also ill in late November but more more typical flu so when people say they had it then I’m usually sceptical but many of these posters seem v close to the symptoms!

passthegin1234 · 20/07/2020 22:17

This is crazy!

Littlepond · 20/07/2020 22:17

I had that virus before Christmas - and went on to have Covid (tested positive) later so what I had can’t have been Covid. Before I got the actual Covid virus though I was convinced what I’d had in November / December time was it.

GreyishDays · 20/07/2020 22:18

Although that one seems to be very snotty and mucousy, so maybe not?

PicsInRed · 20/07/2020 22:19

Was the covid relatively mild?
MuttleysSnigger · 20/07/2020 22:21

Yeah, we were all ill in office throughout late December and early January after several different colleages came back mid-December with bad coughs they picked up while on ski trips in northern Italy. We all had a loss of smell/taste too.

Mustbetimeforachange · 20/07/2020 22:21

I was reading about the choir from Bradford yesterday who all apparently has it in January. One of them had even been to Wuhan. They had the kids of taste/smell etc. Except not a single one of them had antibodies or T cells reactive to coronavirus. There were a lot of other viruses doing the rounds including influenza B, and there will be again this winter. I'm sure it probably was here earlier but I thought the Bradford thing was interesting.

Missh07 · 20/07/2020 22:23

I had this back in October and antibiotics didnt touch the sides of it. The cough lasted from then til I gave birth 5 weeks early in Feb. Never known a cough like it, I coughed so hard I pulled a muscle in my back and literally couldn't move to the point I had to call an ambulance. I have no doubt in my mind after reading these posts that it was covid!

leolion1 · 20/07/2020 22:24

This is why we're unlikely to get a second wave, we've already had it.

DobbyLovesSocks · 20/07/2020 22:24

@Northernsoullover @Eyetestingdurham123 I had antibody test and it was negative. Doesn't mean I haven't had covid just means I don't have antibodies but they reckon they may drop after 3-6 months
