I haven’t watched the interview, but heard reports of the content. I just find it unbelievable he claims he can’t remember meeting a woman he had his arm around! Despicable. Does anyone believe him?

I would have thought that this interview would effectively stop any court case or trial against him going ahead as it would be argued that no-one could now have an impartial view of what happened.

merrymouse · 16/11/2019 09:52

"my judgement was probably coloured by my tendency to be too honourable"

Or in other words "Some people are just more valuable than others".

Thesearmsofmine · 16/11/2019 09:52

No I don’t believe him and I am very disappointed in the BBC for being part of this PR exercise.

I believe that the press have been given free pass on Meghan in order to protect Andrew.

If they had stayed together, Andy might even have behaved himself.

Ah so it's SF's fault if it transpires he is lying. Of course it is.

Thesearmsofmine · 16/11/2019 09:55

Also I’d never heard the story about him ramming the gates before but it doesn’t surprise me at all. He strikes me as the kind of person who is happy to let mummy fix his messes.

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 16/11/2019 09:56

I too do not believe a word he says. I think as a damage limitation exercise it was an epic fail.He is and comes across as a dreadful man.I too think there will be way more to come out here in the weeks and months to come. No one can hide forever and I hope this proves to be the case where truth will prevail.I do feel really bad for the Queen though.

VeryGenuinequestions · 16/11/2019 09:56

There are other photos of young girls with arms around him and ghislene in the background, also staff in florid a or Island saying he indulged into the massages there.

I don't believe him for a second...

PatchworkElmer · 16/11/2019 10:02

Disappointed in the BBC over this- he should be telling his story to the police, not them.

PicsInRed · 16/11/2019 10:03

The rumour is he is wanted for questioning by French police, as a seemingly a number of women have come forward to say they were assaulted by him when under age. The British government, approved by the queen have seemingly blocked it. In addition he was supposedly meant to be attending chiracs funeral, but as he was informed he would be arrested on landing in France, he had to allegedly pull out.

That is much more believable than Angry Andy Airmiles' protestations that he never knew his friend was a paedo, despite regularly partying with said friend - and desperately young and underage girls - on what was effectively Paedo Island.

For Fuck's Sake.

Hand him his P45 and send him to the Job Centre. Better yet, a P85 and one last plane ride.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 16/11/2019 10:05

People need to wake up and understand that these high profile paedophiles get protected from proper investigation at the highest levels.

It is the reason the child sex inquiry has failed before it ever got off the ground.

It's why Andrew can give a fluffy interview to the BBC.

It's why Saville was able to get away with abusing children for years despite being under suspicion and tipped to police decades before he died.

In a way it's suprising this much has been made of Andrew's disgusting behaviour.

However I don't see any point in getting bothered about it, because even the press know, there's fuck all that will really be done. This is just an excercise to try and put doubts in the minds of the naive, save his reputation and prevent mud from sticking to the RF.

LarkDescending · 16/11/2019 10:12

If Andrew thought this was going to blow over, he wouldn’t have given the interview. I believe he knows that chickens are going to come home to roost, and wants to get ahead of it in the public mind.

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 16/11/2019 10:12

The full interview should anyone want to watch is bbc2 tonight at 9pm

PicsInRed · 16/11/2019 10:17

Andy's past (present) is closing in and he knows it. The Queen may attempt to protect Andrew, but Charles won't.

The royal family have been known to throw even close family members in the bin to prevent peasant's revolts. Think German members of the British royal family in the early C20th and King Ed VIII. 🗑

AgeLikeWine · 16/11/2019 10:22

“I have no recollection” is a classic non-denial.

He isn’t saying he didn’t have sex with the teenager, he is just claiming he can’t remember whether he did or not. His recollection of events can’t be disproved. If he was sure he didn’t, he would say so clearly and unambiguously.

We can therefore infer that either he did have sex with her, but doesn’t want to admit it or that he had sex with so many teenagers who were procured for him by Epstein and Maxwell that he can’t remember this particular one.

Delightful chap.

MissEliza · 16/11/2019 10:23

It's pathetic he thinks giving an interview on his own terms will sort everything out. I wish the police would interview him.

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 16/11/2019 10:27

Remember Bill Clinton...He had no recollection of Monica !!! He catagorically did not sleep with that woman he said....he was right he didnt just a quick blow job in the oval office! He didnt lie he just spun the truth...Andrew is the same.

sandyfoot · 16/11/2019 10:32

I don't believe him but even if he didn't commit the crimes of which he is suspected, he shouldn't be part of a funded royal family. He shows at best, horrendous judgement.

To say his problem is he is too honourable. Makes my blood run cold.

And yes, the fact that the gutter press focus on Meghan and spending Christmas with her family makes me doubly sick

YeOldeTrout · 16/11/2019 10:35

I don't remember meeting people I met briefly 20 yrs ago
I have made bad judgement decisions.

At one point this morning, this story was on all 3 of the BBC stations I listen to (4, 5, WS). The story really does not interest me. Irk. Let justice mechanisms take care of it rather than public opinion, please.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 16/11/2019 10:38

The royal family have been known to throw even close family members in the bin to prevent peasant's revolts. Think German members of the British royal family in the early C20th and King Ed VIII.

This is true. However what people forget about these sorts of things (and why they get covered up) is that at this level, there is usally an extensive amount of networking involved. So if you imagine a mind map with Epstein in the middle (perhaps...) as the main subject with Andrew being one line leading out. If you really wanted to do a proper investigation, then you start talking to witnesses, then it comes out that there's lots of other lines leading out to other people of note. And that can't happen.

So I'd be very suprised if anything other than a light touch, face saving excercise by police that culminates in some soft questioning with top notch laywer present and right to refuse to answer occurs. I certainly don't see a public trial. No way.

noodlenosefraggle · 16/11/2019 10:40

I completely believe he doesnt remember meeting her. She was a commodity provided for his entertainment. You may as well ask him what colour the sofa was he Sat on that night. He didn't care who she was or how old she was.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 16/11/2019 10:41

I wonder why he is doing this interview? Is there more that is being suppressed in exchange for this interview?

I'm wondering the same. Obviously it's impossible to comment on the contents before seeing it, but what beats the heck out of me is why he'd agree to the thing at all ...

NewName73 · 16/11/2019 10:42

So far I think only clips of the interview have been made public, the full interview airs tonight.

"I don't remember" is an absolutely classic defensive line trotted out by people in power across time (as AgeLikeWine says) because it is impossible to prove.

I do hope Emily asks him about the photograph, which some people have claimed is faked. And alleged massages etc.

I don't think the BBC is doing PR for the Royals, and I'm very surprised Andrew decided to do the interview - it may well backfire, just as Harry & Meghan's Africa one did a few weeks ago.

ElizaStrawberry · 16/11/2019 10:44

'Not becoming as a member of the royal family' WTF - staying with a convicted paedophile is not becoming as a member of any family you ludicrous man.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 16/11/2019 10:45

Puzzledandpissedoff

It is curious considering the usual stance is to 'Never complain, never explain.'
