I haven’t watched the interview, but heard reports of the content. I just find it unbelievable he claims he can’t remember meeting a woman he had his arm around! Despicable. Does anyone believe him?

If I was going to speculate, I’d suggest that Andrew was the hearty sporty son Philip wanted....

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/11/2019 13:05

@WineorGinOrBoth

Apparently Prince Phillip quite likes Andrew’s macho image.
( I’m wondering if toe curling stories about Prince Phillip will be printed or suppressed out of deference to the Queen, once he passes)

In the 80’s Andrew spray painted a load of photographers in LA.

I remember seeing it on the news. It was completely deliberate.
Andrew’s “ punishment” was to Spend the summer cruising in Scotland with his parents.
He has always been a buffoon.

They took a different tack with reporting on royal peccadilloes in those days, didn't they?

A masterpiece in issuing factual statements, as damningly as possible, while remaining as gushing as possible..

Prince Andrew of Britain, who has largely ignored his huge press entourage on a southern California tour, playfully sprayed eavesdropping reporters with white paint today while visiting a vacant house in Watts.

Wiping his hands on a piece of newspaper afterward, he said, ''I enjoyed that.''

I think the pizza story was very funny, how many kids have a princess as a guest at their kids pizza party? And the prince dad there too. If you were the parent of that birthday child, or indeed the child themself, of course you would remember the prince and princess being there. You would probably also have photos of all the kids at the table etc.

Anyway it's irrelevant, even if he was there , as the nightclub would have been later at night.

NormanSmith · 18/11/2019 13:24

Wendy wasn't his daughter the one having the birthday? Don't know. Totally agree though that the whole pizza thing is so silly given there were plenty more hours of the night to go out and get up to all sorts - he's so dim if he thinks that counts as any kind of alibi

Passthecherrycoke · 18/11/2019 13:27

I’m certain he was at pizza express and certain the birthday child and family remember it too. Don’t see any dispute that he wasn’t at pizza express

I completely agree with @BertrandRussell I think for Phillip Andrew was the macho son he wanted and after Prince Charles, who was clearly rather sensitive and didn’t appear to see his parents much anyway, and Anne (a girl) then a 10 year gap he was probably just glad to have the son he wanted (and I imagine Edward after has been a disappointment to him too)

I mean poor Edward. Made a bit of a fool out of himself in his younger days but he’s married well, lived quietly causing no serious embarrassment for the family yet Andrew is the golden child

Passthecherrycoke · 18/11/2019 13:30

Sorry that’s supposed to say for Prince PHILIP Andrew was the macho son he wanted

peridito · 18/11/2019 13:36

I can't get that ' sex is a positive act for a man and (therefore) difficult to forget ' remark out of my head .

Maybe he's not so keen on the act with women and that's why he claims it's unforgettable ?

W0rriedMum · 18/11/2019 13:36

I doubt that it's was the princess's birthday if her mother was away at the time.

Eastie77 · 18/11/2019 13:43

@AnyMinuteNow to his credit Piers Morgan (who I am not generally a fan of) was almost apoplectic with rage. It was so bizarre. She seemed to be saying "there are minors and then there are children" so the two groups are different and a minor who is forced into sex is a prostitute and not a victimConfused.

LarkDescending · 18/11/2019 13:49

He didn't claim it was Beatrice's birthday/party (her birthday is in August anyway). But it's just a red herring as others have said. She was 12.5 at the time so it's likely to have been a drop-off at most and in any event has no bearing on his ability to "party" (or whatever) later in the evening.

floraloctopus · 18/11/2019 13:59

@Eastie77 I'm not a fan of Piers Morgan either. Part of me thinks good for him and part of me thinks the man doth protest too much.

JoObrien7 · 18/11/2019 14:08

Andrew looks a lot older than 59 imho

Passthecherrycoke · 18/11/2019 14:12

I don’t mean this as an expression of sympathy, but I think he looks like someone under considerable stress and despite his arrogance, I do think he was nervous in the interview

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/11/2019 14:17

@JoObrien7 I thought so too, he doesn't look much younger than Charles. He also looks remarkably like Peter Hitchens!

JoObrien7 · 18/11/2019 14:27

@QueenOfTheAndals

He looked a cold fish to me and I wouldn't be surprised if the allegations were actually true.... Fergie had a lucky escape imho

diddl · 18/11/2019 14:27

The interview was always going to go badly as his personality came through and he didn't admit to being an absolute fool for staying in contact with JE after knowing of his conviction.

JoObrien7 · 18/11/2019 14:28

@diddl

He was extremely arrogant and unapologetic imho

CoastalWave · 18/11/2019 14:40

Just catching up on this on player..

Jesus. Body language says everything.

Be interesting to see what happens with the FBI. Can't see them leaving this one ..

Passthecherrycoke · 18/11/2019 14:42

He also seemed so badly prepared! I mean it’s the interview of his life. Why didn’t someone advise him, when he was very generously asked if he wanted to say anything else, to say that he has deepest sympathy for the victims and wants to reiterate his disgust for Epstein’s actions? Seems so obvious!

Passthecherrycoke · 18/11/2019 14:42

I wonder what the FBI want with him though?

longwayoff · 18/11/2019 14:48

Lady Colin Campbell has an interesting history. Give her a google.

JoObrien7 · 18/11/2019 14:52

@longwayoff

she talks rubbish and is a friend of his.

nespressowoo · 18/11/2019 15:19

He makes me sick. What a despicable human being. I think the Royal Family had Epstein killed off in prison for fear he'd spill the beans.

CallmeAngelina · 18/11/2019 15:26

Where do the press get this "Queen's favourite son" shite from? They've reported it as fact for decades but no one has the first idea what she feels about them all.
