I haven’t watched the interview, but heard reports of the content. I just find it unbelievable he claims he can’t remember meeting a woman he had his arm around! Despicable. Does anyone believe him?

I’ll bet, when pressed, he won’t remember seeing the twins in the corridor though...

DerbyshireGirly · 17/11/2019 16:19

Watching the interview last night I had to laugh at how obviously he was lying and the arrogance that he clearly expected the plebs to buy his cock and bull story. Today though, I'm just sad and angry that the whole country now knows he's lying and those poor girls still won't get any justice. There is so much more to this story and I just don't think any of these sick bastards will be held to account. This sends such an awful message to women.

Bluntness100 · 17/11/2019 16:22

Was he actually shot at in the falklands, my husband says he was kept on the far far fringes of the action, and laughed at the suggestion he was at risk.

Apparently the men he served with described him as a "nasty piece of work." Treated everyone like a servant, and made sure they knew we was superior. The men disliked him intensely.

As said, even during a game of rugby he had to be addressed as sir or your royal highness, and if his fellow officers didn't address him a such, even when running around the pitch, he blanked them.

It’s hard to imagine how he was shot at, with no direct conflict. He flew helicopters and was stationed on a ship that played a pivotal part in the conflict. But surely he wouldn’t try and pass off the ship/ helicopter being targeted as him being “shot at”?

MakeMineALargeProsecco · 17/11/2019 16:25

What on earth us his motivation for this?

It's a total PR disaster.

I wonder if he's being blackmailed?

Passthecherrycoke · 17/11/2019 16:28

I would love to know motivation too. I think the simplest explanation is pure arrogance tbh

Wildorchidz · 17/11/2019 16:30

Am waiting for the Christmas Day walk to church.,,

Bluntness100 · 17/11/2019 16:35

Yes when I said to my husband he was shot at, he guffawed with laughter and said "he was never shot at" I'm assuming he's wrong and he was shot at. Just I can't find any news articles about it. So maybe it depends on Andrews definition of being shot at.

MakeMineALargeProsecco · 17/11/2019 16:35

If so, cherry, he's totally misjudged the public reaction. The newspapers are having a field day & he's come off far worse than he would have done by remaining silent.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 17/11/2019 16:40

cock and bull story.

Cock and ball story more like !

I don't think he's being blackmailed, I think he simoly thought if he addressed and denied it it would go away. Which if he'd handled it better it might well have done.

If he has Showed empathy for the victims, said he'd provide evidence it couldn't have been him to the fbi etc, talked about his horror at Epstein's crimes, his remorse for being involved with him, People would have bought it.

Instead he simoly denied it, under played epsteins crimes, clearly lied about his own behaviour, showed no interest in any victims or empathy, and showed no regret. The whole thing was a car crash.

He is being ripped to shreds by the public on social media and ripped to shreds by the press who are reporting the public reaction. Which could have been predicted,

That would be near identical to my relative's description - he used to comment on irritation of the men when AirMilesAndy was described as "at risk" as he was deliberately kept far away from the main action. He also commented on the difference he saw with Harry who whilst subject to some restrictions he lobbied hard to be treated like any other CO.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 17/11/2019 17:03

I thought Andrew flew helicopter decoys, so “being shot at” is not quite the same as being an Infantry man on the ground.

RhinoskinhaveI · 17/11/2019 17:30

the only shooting going on is self inflicted and to the foot

MakeMineALargeProsecco · 17/11/2019 17:39

The BBC website is quoting "sources close to Andrew" as saying he stands by his decision to do the interview and demonstrated "humility & honesty"

OMFG. He is truly delusional.

oldmum22 · 17/11/2019 17:40

Amazed at this total car crash interview. Without a doubt the worst PR advice that has ever been given and yet sadly, I think Prince Andrew thinks he might be the victim!! The damage that has been done by this interview will never be repaired and I for one hope that justice takes its natural course and those girls are exonerated .

ThePawtriarchy · 17/11/2019 17:42

Seems about right.

Prince Andrew
AGnu · 17/11/2019 17:42

Given the way he allegedly treated everyone else, I'd be surprised if he wasn't shot at...

atankofskunks · 17/11/2019 17:43

It was truly shocking and to my mind there's no doubt of his guilt.

NewName73 · 17/11/2019 17:45

So trying to imagine the meeting with his PR advisers.

They will have given him a checklist of what to shoehorn in:
NSPCC role
Falklands War hero
Children's birthday party (hands on Dad, with 2 daughters)
(Misplaced) loyalty to friends
Mental Health- goes down well now, especially in Royal circles

SAY SOMETHING SYMPATHETIC ABOUT THE POOR ABUSED WOMEN.

Oops - forgot the most important thing ...

NumbersStation · 17/11/2019 17:53

He won’t be too bothered about that tiny slip. Hmm

Not when he’s the new face of Mark’s suspenders, Jocky Lewis and Dubby Hams.

At a changing room near you folks...

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 17/11/2019 17:56

I really think the reason he did the interview was his own arrogant attitude. He thought through the magnetism of his personality he would be able to put this little incident to bed - ahem and all the little people would creep off back to the rocks from which they came from.

I am not glad in any way shape or form that young women or girls were subjected to horrible behaviour but I am glad that his true colours have been exposed.

QuantumEntanglement · 17/11/2019 17:57

“Anhidrosis should now be renamed Andrewhidrosis in his honour”

“I was unable to sweat at the time I wasn’t with that girl”

Just got lost down a twitter wormhole and some of the comments are gold. Grin

As for ‘humility and honesty’, yeah, someone should tell the ‘sources’ that's not how you spell ‘hubris and hokum’

Brilliant interviewee on BBC news about an hour ago. She had been part of a trade delegation with PA to China some years ago.

She didn't pull any punches. Said that like most members of the royal family he was out of his depth in his role. In answer to one question she said "no, he's not very bright" not unkindly, but as though it was just a fact. She made the point several times that she couldn't believe his complete lack of empathy for the young girls involved in all of this.
