What does she give Edgar, and what does he do at the feast (at the end)? Cook bread by breathing fire on it? How is that related to the gift?

Justmuddlingalong · 14/11/2019 08:15

He lights the Christmas pudding.

Trewser · 14/11/2019 08:16

He lights the Christmas pudding

Big whup

I was waiting for him to turn on the villagers.

Justmuddlingalong · 14/11/2019 08:19

It's a bit, meh. I've watched it once and it's not one that I'll stop what I'm doing to watch again.

flowery · 14/11/2019 08:19

He’s setting the Christmas pudding on fire

ReviewingTheSituation · 14/11/2019 08:20

Ah - pudding! Of course. Doesn't explain what she gives him though?

OP posts:
FAQs · 14/11/2019 08:25

She gives him a Christmas pudding to light to show how he can use his skills for good and join in the Christmas festivities and be accepted for who he is. That’s how I saw it it a simple form. I thought it was sweet. Not as good as the Christmas truce but the message in this is kindness and overcoming diversity no?

Trumpton · 14/11/2019 08:25

Surely she gives him the pudding - a nod to Waitrose there !
I thought it was delightful without being mawkish .

ReviewingTheSituation · 14/11/2019 08:42

Makes sense now. Not that I've seen Frozen, but isn't that basically the same story?

OP posts:
FAQs · 14/11/2019 09:35

I don’t know I’ve not seen Frozen.

Armi · 14/11/2019 09:43

I thought it was fab.

It’s not that hard to understand, surely? It’s a TV advert not the collected novels of Henry James.

floraloctopus · 14/11/2019 09:48

I was waiting for him to turn on the villagers.

I don't think JL wanted a fetish video for their xmas offering.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 14/11/2019 09:54

@Trewser Grin

Mysterian · 14/11/2019 09:57

Just another attempt to stir up anti-dragon feelings before the general election.

ReviewingTheSituation · 14/11/2019 10:03

@Armi Clearly I understood the principle, but just couldn't tell what the gift was!

OP posts:
FAQs · 14/11/2019 10:06

@Armi Grin

mumwon · 14/11/2019 10:23

@Mysterian Grin mind we have to bring politics & Brexit into everything!

MoltoAgitato · 14/11/2019 10:29

@FAQs at overcoming diversity!

PrincessHoneysuckle · 14/11/2019 10:31

Just seen this Grin

Can someone explain the JL ad?
BrieAndChilli · 14/11/2019 10:35

DH did say that lighting th epudding wasnt really enough to make up for everything else he did.

having thought about it a bit more i can sort of see it as an analogy for say an autistic or ADHD child, who cant seem to fit in with the others and is trying to play but ends up wrecking everything and being ostracized but it only takes 1 person to see the potential and find a way for them to use their skills in a positive way!

Alsohuman · 14/11/2019 10:39

It’s awful. For some reason Twitter’s drooling over it but I think JL have really missed the mark this year.

Trewser · 14/11/2019 10:41

Lighting the pudding?! Are matches not invented in this village? Is it pre-fire?

Morgan12 · 14/11/2019 10:48

Think some people are reading into it a bit too much 😂

PollyFeather · 14/11/2019 10:49

It's a lovely advert!

I'm amazed you didn't get it though OP - seems clear enough to me!

PollyFeather · 14/11/2019 10:50

@BrieAndChilli possibly overthinking it just a tad there

Irisloulou · 14/11/2019 10:50

Is it frozen or game of thrones?

CUte ad.
