Can someone explain the JL ad?

What does she give Edgar, and what does he do at the feast (at the end)? Cook bread by breathing fire on it? How is that related to the gift?

It’s about finding out you can fit in. She found something he could do and was good at.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/11/2019 10:56

Edgar is cute. Since when has JL sold Christmas puddings. It's too similar to the Mog advert from a few years ago.
Not keen on the Sainsbury's one at all.

PollyFeather · 14/11/2019 11:05

@Toddlerteaplease it's a joint effort with waitrose

inwood · 14/11/2019 11:05

Nobody successfully lights the pudding with matches, at least on the first go or without burnt fingers. A dragon would be pretty handy.

FAQs · 14/11/2019 11:15

@MoltoAgitato yes @BrieAndChilli and @Sparklingbrook explain it well.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 14/11/2019 11:15

Well I like it

I find it cute

TheLurkingOne · 14/11/2019 11:16

No, brieandchilliis right. I don't even like the ad particularly but as a mum of a child with adhd and autism it couldn't be clearer that that's one meaning we can take from it, and I like the message.

MoltoAgitato · 14/11/2019 11:18

Did you mean adversity? FAQs

percheron67 · 14/11/2019 11:19

I think it is a smashing ad. Christmas and kindness go together. Probably biased because my daughter and I love dragons.

BlobbyTheLump · 14/11/2019 11:19

No advert I've seen has matched up to the 2011 JL one.
The little boy who can't wait to give his parents the present, his little face.
Makes me cry just thinking about it. So sweet.
Star

FreeBedForFlys · 14/11/2019 11:20

Well I think it’s adorable and it’s made me laugh and cry. But then I’m menopausal and everything sets me off these days 😳

FAQs · 14/11/2019 11:26

@MoltoAgitato actually it could be either or, Diversity, celebrating ones difference and overcoming adversity.

KitMarlowesCodpieceOfThigh · 14/11/2019 11:29

I hope a parent or guardian bought the pudding for her, given that it contains alcohol. And helped her to warm the booze for the flambé as well.

Sotoes · 14/11/2019 11:30

Edgar's face at the end is brilliant. I love it.

EscapeTheCastle · 14/11/2019 11:30

The dragon is cute! I liked it a lot. Hurrah!

Horsemad · 14/11/2019 11:37

I like it.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 14/11/2019 11:39

OMG, I’m obviously over emotional and hormonal at the moment but, Edgar is adorable! And Bastille Dan making a bloody awful cheesefest song actually listenable. I feel all warm inside (I might have cried a bit at the end.....)

StylishMummy · 14/11/2019 11:43

It's showing someone who struggles with being 'different' for whatever reason can be included in the festivities in a considerate way that makes them feel good. I think JL have nailed it when autism and other 'hidden' disabilities are being publicised more. It encourages inclusivity

Horsemad · 14/11/2019 11:47

Oh dear, I've just watched Sainsbury's and cried at it! Mind you, I cried at JL too.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 14/11/2019 12:08

Awww yea, the Sainsbury's one is great too .

Only two Christmas ones I have seen so far this year

percheron67 · 14/11/2019 12:13

Horsemad I I love your name! You may imagine by looking at mine. I haven't seen the Sainsbury one yet but shall keep a look out.

SouthWestmom · 14/11/2019 12:16

Awful! Like a CBeebies show on celebrating difference. Stupid looking dragon isn't fit with the rest of the styling. What time period was it anyway? Load of old bollocks but then I don't get the 'waiting for the ad' stuff.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 14/11/2019 12:23

@percheron67 . The Sainsbury's ad is on YouTube .

percheron67 · 14/11/2019 12:31

Whentherabbits - Thank you. I shall look it up.

ReviewingTheSituation · 14/11/2019 13:50

@KitMarlowesCodpieceOfThigh - surely she made the pudding, with ingredients from Waitrose?? Don't we see her baking?
