Is there already a thread about the instamum dramas involving MoD today?

Oh god @morningdread is that over on Tattle or here on MN?

Imagine getting caught using fake accounts to slag off competitors. That's basically what this is. And it's gross misconduct.

Of course I don't know much about employment law and whether her posting outside company time and not on company money means her day job is safe. I wonder.

SpiderCharlotte · 10/11/2019 13:33

That not many other instamums have stepped up to comment on this saga speaks volumes to me about how this industry world

This is a really good point @lostlondoner - many will not want to say too much because really they're peddling the same shit that she is.

LizzieSiddal · 10/11/2019 13:34

I do wonder if jealousy is the root cause of much of this pouring over of details.

How original Hmm

You need to ask yourself, how people know these details? Because two people have chosen to put them in a public space and make money out of sharing those details. Of course people will talk about it/them/their dc. Thats exactly what MOD and FOD want!

On tattle there was a link to some of her posts.

@Ellapaella yes it's bizarre particularly as she apparently was a member of Tattle before the thread about her appeared. I say apparently because I've not looked myself. I assume some users across both sites are the same.

It's all very Black Mirror particularly with the game show footage etc you couldn't make it up!

I guess she wanted to be famous (no shame in that), used her midwifery & kids as a platform but ultimately wanted to move away from that and be a "personality" which I assume she was becoming. It seems she sees herself above other or different to other insta influencers & probably thinks them & her followers are a bit below her.

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 10/11/2019 13:51

Couple of thoughts 1) I wish people would be more nuanced about tattle. Yes there are some vicious comments granted, but it's also a space for discussion about the ethics of Instagram and influencers which tend to get blocked on here and on Instagram. That discussion needs to happen and people need to wake up to the fact that influencers are business people and also peddling their kids for cash. It needs to happen somewhere. 2) That not many other instamums have stepped up to comment on this saga speaks volumes to me about how this industry world ;with the exception of a few) They spend their lives in public giving opinions and sharing their life yet it all goes silent when this happens. THIS is the time for them to be vocal. They are all a bunch of idiots in my opinion and I'm pleased this has opened some peoples eyes to the fakery and greed of it all.
Yes to all of this. Tattle is the antidote to the saccharine world of Instagram.

Tooearlyforcrackers · 10/11/2019 14:17

It's not really surprising that there are common users across the two sites. There were threads and threads of discussion on influencer ethics on MN, raising many good points, and then MN started clamping down on them. It was never clear whether this was due to pressure in the background from influencers or other factors such as concerns about loss of MN's own advertising revenue maybe, but the reasons for closing down the discussions were often pretty flaky: "not in the spirit" was one reason frequently given. It was exactly the same as the influencers deleting and blocking any dissenting comment on their feeds.

Tattle filled a hole created by MN's moderation stance, imo.

You've made me want to change my name to FlyawayPeterFlyawayPaul

Tooearlyforcrackers · 10/11/2019 14:21

But influencers are self employed hashtag mumbosses. They don't have to conform to anything other than their own moral compass.

I bet there are plenty more influencers who have accounts on tattle (and MN) who are keeping their heads down right now.

MarshaBradyo · 10/11/2019 14:23

I have no doubt many are at all -at the same time as getting upset about it.

Yes to many just moving over when threads here were deleted repeatedly.

I recall mnhq wanted to do something and push them on here even more tg that was stopped.

Powergower · 10/11/2019 14:34

Mn effectively closed down any discussion about the ethics of selling your children online, consent and unregulated adverts. They should be ashamed. Their reason was always 'women should support women'. Why? Men aren't told this. And it turns out what mod really wanted to do was have women supporting mod and fod only.

jamoncrumpets · 10/11/2019 14:43

Actually I think it's unfair to MN to say they closed down conversations. They only deleted posts that were offensive. I was fine with them doing that.

hopeishere · 10/11/2019 14:45

The thing about the women supporting women mantra is that if MOD genuinely thought, for example, MPukkas show was shite then she should still be able to say that without it being an attack on womanhood. You can't always support women. It's ok to disagree.

Just be constructive which is what I felt a lot of insta mum threads as were - user feedback.

I think the top tier - DMBL40, SMS, Steph flowers, MP have agreed not to comment on this as damage limitation.

Tooearlyforcrackers · 10/11/2019 14:47

I can think of several threads that were shut down. All the Sali Hughes ones were shut only recently.

I'm more than fine with MN operating a sound moderation policy. Tattle's moderation policy is more than questionable, and MN allowed most threads to self moderate which I think is far healthier, but they definitely went further than that.

I do think there was more to the moderation policy they adopted than we know about.

Tooearlyforcrackers · 10/11/2019 14:54

DMBL40 doesn't express an opinion on anything. She's too busy flogging Flora margarine, insanely priced holidays, cheesy cruises and clothes she wouldn't wear (Tu) and hanging out with her new celebrity pals. She has lost the plot. She wasn't even in MOD's sphere of vision to draw any comment from Alice on anyway I don't think. SMS never says anything about anything either really. I think Steph is a genuine mate, probably chatting to Clemmie and offering support behind the scenes.

Chronicallymothering · 10/11/2019 14:57

I find it amazing that anyone would have enough time for 4 children (and associated admin) a healthy marriage, a busy shift based job and running a house and spending a lot of time on holiday. And then run an insta account and a back channel secret ID slagging off other insta peeps. I feel like she needs to change her moniker and give us all her tips on time management.

RexDangerVest · 10/11/2019 14:57

Who is DMBL40?

HowlsMovingBungalow · 10/11/2019 14:59

Tattles moderation is highly suspect.

morningdread · 10/11/2019 15:02

I feel like she needs to change her moniker and give us all her tips on time management.

I would buy a book on this! I've fallen down the rabbit hole because i've been ill in bed since Wednesday & the dc are at their nana

MarshaBradyo · 10/11/2019 15:04

It’s not that much time though is it v part time, cc in place, posting takes seconds, maybe a cleaner. I’m not criticising this I have time to post on mn it really doesn’t take long.

highheelsandweathercocks · 10/11/2019 15:06

Who is DMBL40?
Does My Bum Look 40

MarshaBradyo · 10/11/2019 15:07

Tbh listing all the things these people are supposedly doing so well is part of the build them up problem. As shown by the fact they’re just on tattle having a gossip like anyone else.

BobbyNewport · 10/11/2019 15:25

Tattles moderation is highly suspect

In what way?

IDontDrinkTea · 10/11/2019 15:26

She only does one midwifery shift a week though and she used to post about a nannying agency that she used. I’m sure a lot of us would have a lot more free time if we only worked one day a week...

MarshaBradyo · 10/11/2019 15:33

Some people have loads of time, holidays, help (or not) but the only distinction that is really relevant imo is choosing to monetise content of children. Lots choose to stay away from this which is why trying to force it on here flunked.
